Once she had regained her composure, she turned her attention back to the man behind the glass wall.
His hair had already started to turn grey and he looked pretty malnourished. The only thing that even made him look alive were his focused storm grey eyes that stared right at her. His stare seemed to have something dangerous to it but also caring, almost like he was trying to warn her.
She could tell this whole thing wouldn't have a good end, but at the same time something deep within her started to feel happy.
~This isn't like me.~
-Really? Then tell me, what is the real you like.-
~I would never feel happy about the fact that something horrible is going to happen!~
-Is that so?-
~Yes! I- ~
-There's no need to defend yourself, I know what you truly feel. You don't need to hide it from me.-
~What I truly feel?~
-I know how happy you must be about this whole thing, after all you were the one who created this.-
~Created this? What even is this?!~
-Looks like you still don't remember, then how about this?-
~Wait-!~
But before she could even finish her sentence the scenery changed once again. This time instead of a laboratory they were outside on a flower field. The view was breathtaking but she couldn't really focus on it because her whole world was still spinning.
After a while she was finally able to calm down and she started to see more clearly. Looking around she recognized what kind of flowers this field was made of. This whole field was filled with red spider lillies. At it's sight her heart started to ache, but at the same time she felt happy like she had only felt a few times.
Something within her knew what this place was all about but she couldn't remember anything at all, all that was left were the feelings from the last time she stood in this field. And instead of feeling troubled because of her colliding emotions she felt at ease, knowing that no one could harm her in this place.
As she turned around she saw someone standing there. It was the man with green hair, at first she was taken by surprise until she noticed him staring at something intently and when she followed his gaze she saw the woman standing there looking at the sunset.
It was a mesmerizing sight, but what surprised her the most was that the woman looked so different. She seemed to be more relaxed and happy, it was as if a huge burden had been lifted off her shoulders. At that time she wondered what that strange woman might've gone through all this time and if that was the reason she was like this.
Suddenly the man started talking in a hesitant but warm voice.
"Do you- do you regret it?"
"Do I regret it? I regret giving them the power to do as they please, after all if I hadn't all these innocent people wouldn't have had to lose their lives. But even then it's not like I can judge them for doing so, after all their lives were like hell and it's my fault they turned out this way. If someone is to blame it's m-"
"It wasn't your fault!"
"What?"
"It wasn't your fault that they turned out this way, you just wanted to help them! Sure maybe your methods weren't the best, but that doesn't mean that they only turned out this way because of you, if they had the chance to they would do it again, with or without you."
"... Say, can you promise me somehting?"
"Anything."
"If they were to start another war and hurt innocent people again I want you to stop them."
"Have you forgotten what they did to you? Why do you want me to watch out for them?!"
"You don't need to watch out for them, all I ask is for you to stop them, no matter what method you use, I don't want innocent people to get hurt again because of me. Please, this is my last wish before I leave this world."
"... Alright, I will do as you say."
The woman nodded and started walking though the flower field. It was a beatiful sight, but at the same time it broke her heart for the man that stood by the woman, knowing that this would be the last time he saw her. Why did the gods have to be so cruel? Why did they have to take her from him when she was the only one who tried to change this messed up world? This isn't how it was supposed to be...
"Dylan."
"Yes?"
"Thank you. Thank you for everything you've done for me, but there's no need for you to sacrifice yourself for me."
"You knew."
"Of course I did, I'm not dumb", said the woman turning around, smiling at him.
"Do you think, that if we were to meet again in another time and world that we could make this work?", she asked as tears started to fall from her face.
"Of course", the man answered taking her hand. "No matter where you are or how much you might have changed I'll find you and stand by your side once again, this is a promise."
"A promise can be easily broken", said the woman as he wiped her tears with his hand.
"If that's the case", meant the man getting down on his knees, "I swear that I will find you again, no matter where you are or how long it takes and that I will stand by your side until the day I die."
"You're an idiot", said the woman looking at the symbol that appeared on the back of his hand. "How could you make an oath like that? You know that it's not possible for me to just return from the dead."
"I told you already didn't I, I'm ready to wait for however long it takes to get you back", he declared smiling at her, as he stood up.
Instead of saying anything she slowly let go of his hand and looked at him with tears in her eyes. Just as he thought that he made her cry she smiled at him through her tears, happier than he had ever seen before, and hugged him.
"I'll be waiting for you", whispered the woman as her body slowly turned into a swarm of fireflies in his arms.
After years of being isolated from everyone Silas finally escapes. But now that he's free he doesn't know what to do and his pursuers are starting to close in. Will he be able to fully escape or will he lose everything while trying, even his own life?
"Who are you?", asks the confused and scared voice.
The dark being in front of him smiles at him with that horrendous smile, that he despises more than anything else.
"Can't you see it? I am you."
