After a short rest, the rescuers first connected to life support systems, diagnostics and surveillance cameras. The station was in more or less working condition, there was damage in places, and there was no power. The fourth and fifth outer circuits were filled with water, the third half. Tan tried to start the pumping station but nothing worked. Scanners and sensors did not work and needed a restart. A third of the surveillance cameras were without power. Tai asked Yuki to use the remaining surveillance cameras to search for people at the station. Yuki silently sat down at the console with several monitors and began to examine the premises of the station. Tai sat down next to her.
“Wait,” Tai stopped. “Show me the corridor on the fourth level”
“What have you seen?”
“There are holes in the walls, most likely from a gunshot. There are also superficial damages, dents of the correct shape, they are everywhere, the question is what can leave such a mark.”
“I found people!” Tan suddenly exclaimed.
Four green dots flickered on the diagram of the living quarters on the eighth level. The four crew members of the Locust were found thanks to a search engine that Kir Lak passed on to the rescue team. As soon as the individual sensors were activated, these people realized that they were coming for them. They began to look for working surveillance cameras, but did not notice the camera in the corridor and walked past. Of the five surveillance cameras in the living area, only one was working. The camera image showed only the corridor and the staff's back room. Tan managed to connect to the sensors of the living compartment and rescuers found out that there were seven more survivors there.
“Why are these people sitting in this compartment and not going up?” Yuki asked.
“A scan of the compartment showed that the doors were locked from the inside.” Tan answered puzzled.
“Very interesting!” Tai frowned.
“I restarted all the sensors, there is no one else at the station except these people and us.” Tang clarified.
“We'll have to find out what happened here.” Tai said quickly.
“I tried to connect to the security camera database, but there is no connection. So you have to go to the security block.” Tan summed up.
“Tan, try to find a way to contact the survivors.” Tai asked.
Taking the equipment, Tai went out into the service corridor leading to the central hall of the complex. Having reached the hatch, Ty lowered the ladder to the floor of the hall. It was dark downstairs, there was no electricity, and the floor of the hall was filled with knee-deep water.
Tai looked around and got in touch with his brother: “Tan, judging by the Reman coat of arms in the hall, this complex belongs to Count Atauda. So we found what we were looking for. And this bothers me, I see that there is no point in waiting for the pilgrims. We have little time. There is water all around here, there is much more of it than we expected, apparently the ship has broken through the lining of the circuit. I can't get into the security block, if I open the door, the whole hall will flood with water, the only way is ventilation, but I won't get through there, I think Yuki can get through.
Yuki quickly got ready and went down to Tai. He helped her climb into the ventilation duct, a minute later she was already in the corridor leading to the security block. Along the corridor she reached the open elevator shaft, climbing the stairs, she reached the security block. The door to the security room was locked from the inside.
“Tai, the door is locked.” Yuki got in touch.
“You have a GP-key, open the side panel and install the jumper, turn the key to the right.” Tai instructed.
“There's something else here.” She said worriedly.
“What?”
“The door, there are marks on it like claws, it is all scratched.” Yuki answered.
“It is unlikely that these marks were left by some animal; most likely these are marks from a cutter with which someone tried to cut the door. Tan said there is no one here.” Tai reassured.
Yuki became wary and listened, but apart from the sound of a waterfall in the mine, she heard nothing. She did everything as Tai said. The door opened slightly and a sickening, corpse-like smell emerged from the crack. Yuki quickly put on her protective mask and opened the door. On the floor of the security post, she discovered the body of a guard with a weapon. The guard showed no signs of violent death. After examining the corpse, Yuki went into the archive compartment and pulled out a recording unit. On the way back, she grabbed weapons and ammunition from a dead guard. With a recording unit weighing about five kilograms and a weapon, it was more difficult for her to go down the stairs into the elevator shaft; she almost fell at the exit, stepping on her own wet footprint that she left when she left the flooded corridor. Yuki was pretty scared, but managed to cling to a box that stood next to the elevator doors. The box overturned and fell into the elevator shaft. She quickly climbed into the ventilation channel and crawled towards the exit. Behind her she heard some kind of crash, apparently the box fell to the bottom of the elevator shaft.
Having overcome half of the ventilation channel, Yuki heard Tan’s frightened voice through her earpiece: “Come back quickly!”
Yuki didn’t even bother to find out what happened; she quickly crawled, driven by inner fear. Tai was waiting for her at the exit; as soon as she came within arm's reach, he grabbed the straps of her overalls and pulled her out of the ventilation.
“Get out of there quickly!” Tan’s cry was heard in the headphones.
Tai took Yuki in his arms along with everything she had in her hands, quickly ran to the stairs and threw her into the service tunnel under the flow of the hall. A second before raising the ladder and slamming the hatch, Tai heard something quickly running along one of the corridors adjacent to the hall. The hatch closed. Tai and Yuki froze, they thought they heard each other's pulse. Through the beating of the pulse, they heard someone walking along the hall.
“Help!” – a hysterical female voice rang out.
Yuki shuddered. The words were repeated and the voice grew closer. The voice was not ordinary, it was not loud, it vibrated strangely, which made Tai and Yuki’s ears start to clog. They both felt internally agitated and very dizzy.
“Where are you? Help!” The voice intensified.
Yuki reached for the hatch handle. Tai, noticing her slow movement, tried to stop her, but could not move. Somewhere in the distance Tan's voice was heard, it became stronger, the temporary numbness quickly passed, and Tai pulled Yuki's hand away from the hatch handle.
“Someone help!” The voice became distant.
Yuki was exhausted, she did not resist, as Tai pulled her away from the hatch, she came to her senses. Finally, Tai and Yuki emerged from the technical corridor.
