A day before it all began, when all the worries of the upcoming battle began to get the rebels, Ethan summoned all the rebels to the laboratory. When they all arrived, they noticed that Ethan looked agitated as he couldn’t stop fidgeting with things and bags hung under his eyes. “Alright, since everyone is here, I’m proud to say that the weapons I promised you are ready, except for Ninja’s weapon.”
“Huh? Why's mine not ready?” Ninja asked anxiously as he assumed that Ethan did this on purpose for whatever reason that made him believe it.
“Your weapon requires a lot of time to complete, usually it would take months to finish the weapon but I’ll manage to do so in less than a week. Your weapon may not be finished now but it will be before you go into battle,” Ethan explained.
“That’s not fair,” Ninja mumbled in his displeasure.
“Don’t worry though, you’ll be happy that I didn’t finish it a day early,” Ethan said as he walked to a wall and double-tapped it. The wall shifted away revealing a display of weapons mounted on the wall. The Rebels’ interest had been piqued as each one had their eye on a specific weapon, “Each weapon is specifically designed for each rebel. With the help of Kunoichi, I was able to come up with weapons and create them according to your talents.”
Ethan wore a pair of gloves then grabbed the first weapon and demonstrated it as he wielded it masterfully, “This is a hybrid staff, made from the finest carbon steel this world has to offer. It can be a normal staff, a three-section staff, and a plasma spear. In the right hands, this weapon can cause mass destruction as the user can do multiple fighting styles with it.” He threw the staff toward the wall, confusing everyone before he raised his left hand and the staff came back to him leaving everyone fascinated. “Cool isn’t it, that was electromagnetism. These gloves emit a magnetic wave that attracts the weapon back to the gloves. Colonel, I think you’ll have a lot of fun with this weapon.”
The Colonel was a little overjoyed as Ethan handed her the staff along with the gloves, “Thank you Cyber, I didn’t think you would make a staff for me. Kunoichi must’ve told you stories of how good I am with the staff.”
Ethan chuckled, “Yes, I heard you beat them all with bo staff in training sessions.”
“They’re always getting beaten with something, if they got better then maybe they wouldn’t get beaten up in training,” the Colonel said as she chuckled and side-eyed the other rebels.
“Do be careful with it so that you don’t hurt yourself. If you have any problems with the staff, just come to me for assistance,” Ethan advised.
“Sure.”
Ethan put on another pair of gloves then picked up the next weapon off the display and aimed them at Flash, “These are the plasma guns, they have similar mechanics to the revolver but I redesigned the model of the revolver to be more aesthetic and reduce recoil. They shoot about 50 plasma bullets before you have to reload. It has a special attack called the plasma burst, if you hold the trigger long enough, it will build up the plasma accumulation and once you release the trigger, it will release a powerful plasma blast. You can release 2 plasma bursts per energy mag so use them wisely since you only have 20 energy mags for the whole battle. The gloves do the same as the Colonel’s, as all the gloves I give you will do so. Go wild with them.”
Ethan handed the guns to Flash along with the gloves as he couldn’t stop grinning like a child receiving presents, “Oh wow, these feel great, thanks Cyber,” Flash said in awe.
“The guns and the special contact lenses are linked so it’ll enhance your aim.”
“Sweet…”
“I also made you these electromagnetic grenades, experiment with those how you see fit,” Ethan explained.
“Guns and explosives, you’re really getting me excited for this battle Cyber,” Flash said taking the grenades.
Ethan put on the next weapon and faced Bradley then he threw a few quick jabs at the air as the weapons sparked electricity with every jab. “These are the electro gauntlets; with every punch, they release an electric discharge on contact. These will be very effective against the robots especially since you have better mobility now Bradley.”
After being given the gauntlets, Bradley tried them as he threw a few quick jabs, “Cyber, these are cool and all, but they won’t be useful against guns being fired at me.”
“I understand your concern, but it’ll be a lot harder for them to hit with the mobility you have now. If you’re still concerned then I can give you some armour that you can wear. Combined with a machine gun, you’d be an unstoppable force like a Juggernaut,” Ethan said as he envisioned it.
Bradley himself couldn’t escape the vision as he saw it too; him carrying a machine gun in his armour, firing away at the robots as bullets deflected off his armour. He alone cleared the enemy lines, a supreme warrior who struck fear into the circuits of the robots. “You see it, don’t you Brad? The carnage you could do.”
“…Yeah, I do…I see glorious destruction.”
Kunoichi pulled them out of their fantasy as she lightly bonked them on their heads, “Okay you two, snap out of it.”
Ethan cleared his throat, “Right, have fun with those Bradley.” He made his way back to the display and picked up another weapon, “Now I wasn’t planning on making a weapon for you Chemic, since you already have a few special weapons at your disposal. However, I thought I should make you one to add to your arsenal.”
“Thank goodness you did, I would’ve been heartbroken if you didn’t,” Chemic sighed in relief. Ethan chuckled awkwardly, “Indeed, thank goodness I did. Now what I have here is a plasma cannon, it has similar mechanics to Flash’s guns but obviously, they’re not exactly the same due to the size of the gun. The bullets come in bursts, the longer you hold the trigger, the bigger the burst will be. You have 20 energy mags so be sure to use this in important battles like against Colossals and Cybortrons. At least with this gun, it won’t require precision like Flash’s guns, so go wild with it,” handing the gun to Chemic.
Chemic received the gun gracefully and adored it like a baby she just adopted, “I think I’ll call you, Rosé.”
“There she goes again naming her weapon,” Kunoichi chuckled at the sight of Chemic’s adoration for her weapons. “And then there was me, what do I g-,” Kunoichi said but then realized that the last weapon left mounted on the display was an old skill she hadn’t practiced since her parents were alive. “How did you know that I did archery?”
“Heheh, uhh I didn’t, I asked Ninja and he told me that you practiced archery back in better times. So I thought making a kinetic bow and arrows would be a good weapon for you,” Ethan unmounted the bow from the display.
“Coool, does it have a special attack?” Kunoichi asked enthusiastically as she beamed with curiosity.
Ethan went to his hologram table to show a visual demonstration, “The bow simply enhances the potential energy of an arrow, making it cover more distance and move at the speed of a bullet once released.”
“Wow… I really never thought that I would pick this skill back up again, but I’m glad that I am. Thank you, Ethan,” Kunoichi said.
Ethan smiled as he handed the bow to Kunoichi along with a glove, “Make sure to never touch the string without the glove, otherwise you’ll get shocked with 200 volts of energy. Since you can’t channel, wearing the glove is the only way to avoid that.”
“Ok, but why is it like that though?”
“For the potential energy enhancement, the string needs a constant flow of energy. If you touch it with bare fingers, you’ll either get burned on your fingers or shocked, so the gloves are important to act as an insulator. If the glove wears out, tell me so that I can give you a new one.”
“Alright sure,” Kunoichi replied.
The Rebels were pleased with their weapons as they couldn’t stop admiring them. Well, not all the rebels were pleased as Ninja was moping at the sight of the other rebels enjoying their weapons. “I’m going to go give this baby a test run,” Chemic said as she cheerily rushed to the elevator. “Me too,” Flash joined her. “Wait for me,” Bradley followed. The Colonel remained silent as she entered the elevator, trying her best not to match the childish energy of the other rebels.
“Have with them, you guys,” Ethan said as the elevator door closed.
Meanwhile, Kunoichi was trying not to laugh at Ninja as she tried cheering him up, “Don’t worry Ninja, your weapon will be done tomorrow so don’t feel bad.” However, that didn’t help much which made Ethan feel bad as he sighed, “Alright Ninja, while I finish your weapon, you can train with my energy sword. Just don’t activate it otherwise you might kill someone.”
Ninja’s face brightened up as he cheered up and rushed over to Ethan who took out his energy sword then gave it to Ninja along with a pair of gloves. “Have fun with it, but don’t get attached,” Ethan suggested.
“Hehe thanks Cyber, I’ll take good care of her,” Ninja said then dashed to the elevator grabbing Kunoichi along with him. When they vanished behind the doors, Ethan thought to himself, why do I get the feeling that he’s not gonna want to give that sword back when his actual weapon is done?
While the Rebels began training vigorously with their specialized weapons, Ethan continued to create his final weapon for the rebels. Spirits had reached an all-time high for the rebels’ camp due to Ethan delivering on his promise of creating weapons that would level the playing field against the Mavis Empire.
I do wonder though, will it be enough for them to win this war?
