The black irises in his eyes shrank to pinpoints in what appeared to be agonizing realization.
Rain felt the change in her Master's mental touch as fear vibrated in the cord that connected their hearts. She cried out again and again for her Master, not realizing the danger she was now in was far greater than before.
'Rain, be calm.' She heard his voice in her mind.
The steps were close now and it was then that she heard the voice that made time stand still. As though ice water had been poured onto her mind, her body froze. Everything vanished from the world except for the voice that had instantly grasped her entire being.
"Did you think that you could hide her forever, Magnus?" The unknown's voice drew shivers from Rain's soul for somehow it was not human. Each word spoken was an intoxicating spell.
A low rumble rose in Rain's Master's chest, an anger that he usually kept locked away was bubbling to the surface.
"What a beautiful woman you have become," the voice neared Rain, the evil in their aura reached out and curled around her every limb. She was as blind as her Master, and unable to see the one who now stood before her. Their icy touch brushed against her cheek, moving strands of black hair from in front of her wide and frightened eyes. She made the motion to draw her face away from the fingers that stroked her face but the hand grabbed her chin, jerking her focus to the featureless silhouette before her. Their indistinguishable face nearing her ear in order to whisper;
"I've finally caught you, little mouse. There's no place for you to scurry. I have waited centuries for this moment."
