"Hey Muskan! How are you, girl?" Kareena greeted her friend who had just stepped out of the taxi, returning from her walk.
"You're back quite early today. Did you finally realize that working overtime is not cool?"
Seeing no response from her best friend, Kareena sensed something was wrong. Even though Muskan seemed to never express her emotions, Kareena could distinguish between her happy and sad expressions.
“Muski, you had dinner?”
To her reply Muskan nodded her head positively.
“ Great! Let’s go for a walk.” Kareena held Muskan by arms intending to take her for a walk.
"But didn't you just come back from a walk?" Muskan inquired.
"Yes, but I'm aiming to get even healthier. Let's go!" Kareena replied enthusiastically.
Handing her bag to the security for safekeeping, they headed to the nearby garden for their stroll. Along the way, they spotted an ice cream truck and decided to indulge. Kareena opted for a new flavor called 'Love Potion,' while Muskan stuck with her usual choice of cookies and cream.
After eating ice cream, Muskan felt a bit lighter. Her tension seemed to be decreasing. Kareena thought this was the right time to find out what was on her mind.
"How's your new project going?" Kareena asked.
"Why so suddenly interested in my projects?" Muskan replied casually, enjoying the fresh breeze and the cold ice cream.
"Just curious…" Kareena stuttered a bit, as she had never been interested in Muskan's work before. She was just happy with her friend and her own work. And Muskan knew this.
"Get straight to the point. What do you want to ask?" Muskan said, noticing Kareena's hesitation.
Upon hearing this, Kareena laughed remembering the old days. "How much have you changed in these 10 years, Muski. But your habit of coming straight to the point is still the same."
"Fine, I'll get to the point. What did Jay do this time that's bothering you so much?" Kareena's question wiped the smile off Muskan's face, and her steps paused right where they were. She looked at Kareena as if she wanted to say, 'How do you know I'm upset because of Jay?'
"Why are you looking at me like that? I'm your best friend, we've been together for 10 years. I know enough about you." Kareena said. Muskan attempted to conceal her sadness from her friend, but failed.
"No matter how hard I try, whenever he comes in front of me, that night flashes before my eyes. What should I do?" Muskan expressed her feelings to her friend sitting on the park bench, after sharing the instance of today's night with her. Hearing this, Kareena, who was usually not silent, just hugged her friend silently, hoping that her friend's burden would lighten a bit.
"Don't worry, Kareena. It's just a matter of a few months. Once this project is over, everything will be back to normal." Muskan reassured herself through Kareena.
"No one knows what might happen in these months, and I hope everything goes back to the way it was before. Not like a few months ago, but 10 years ago. I hope Muskan's smile returns." Kareena said to herself in her mind."
