Who in the castle let it go that far?! How did they allow her to take the crown?!
‘I can see that you are mad.‘ the boy said.
‘So, you really told the truth, huh?‘.
I was wondering why he came to this conclusion all of a sudden.
‘What makes you think that I told you the truth?‘ I asked him.
He smiled and stood up to go to the open window and look if the guard was still there.
‘Well, why would you be so mad? No one cares who has the crown on their head because nothing will change for us common people. If anything, it will get worse.‘.
I showed him that I told the truth without noticing - just by my reaction. At least that would be cleared now.
‘Is that person your step sister? He asked as he pointed at something outside the window. I stood up and quickly ran to the window to see something surprising.
A big, golden wagon appeared with many guards behind it. There was a person shaking the hands of the people. As I looked closer, I realized that this person was indeed Levla. She really made a public appearance?! Trying to win the people over - good move by that witch.
‘This person did it. She killed the allied King‘s daughter and blamed me.‘. Seeing her down there as the new Queen brought up all my anger again.
‘I think it would be better to leave now. Do you trust me?‘ the boy said.
‘What do you mean? Why?‘ I asked as I was confused. He stretched out his arms.
‘We need to leave by running above the roofs. Just a bit more southern and we arrive at the hideout.‘
‘Are you crazy?! Do you really want to carry me?!‘.
‘Well, you aren‘t the best climber and the fastest runner, are you? And your feet are bruised up. We will be quicker if I just carry you until we arrive.‘.
I realized that he was really serious because of his montone and cold voice.
I really had trust in him until now. He gave me a feeling of safety and comfort just by being near me. But I wasn‘t comfortable with being touched by someone else as I got to a point where I didn‘t want anyone to touch me.
At that moment, it was necessary. The risk of getting caught by someone and Levla being present with all those guards was too high if we kept hiding in this house.
I slowly approached him and turned around. He grabbed me under my knees and by my back. At first I twitched and had a shiver running down but his soft hands felt warm. He grabbed me very gently like he wanted to make sure that I felt comfortable.
He showed affection for me and cared how I felt. All of a sudden, he didn‘t seem like a stranger anymore as I was in his hands.
He made a quick jump on the edge of the window and then jumped on the roof on the other side. From there on, he ran. Over roofs, jumped from one house to another and all that while carrying me in his arms. At no point did I feel like he would drop me or fall down. He was incredible. A weird feeling took over my body when I looked at his focused face.
We arrived at what seemed to be a tavern. Inside he took me the backroom and we entered a narrow hallway.
‘Behind that door is our hideout.‘
‘Wait.‘ I stopped him before we entered.
‘I still don‘t know your name.‘.
‘Sturm is my name. And now that I believe your story you must be Evera.‘
I never heard a name like his but it suited him. As he opened it, I was greeted by some people who seemed to be members. It weren‘t many.
‘Who‘s that girl?‘ said a big guy who sat in the corner. He looked very intimidating.
‘Someone who will be very helpful in our operations‘. He said. A girl about my height stood up and hugged me. I was caught off guard by her.
‘Welcome to our team!‘.
