"Tyler, it's you!" exclaimed Jonas happily before dragging him into a big hug.

Tyler nearly fell over from the violent hug, before steadying himself. Jonas was a surprisingly physical person. He'd said he got that from his father. He was actually the only one of his friends to be that physical, with his other friends he didn't tend to hug or anything. However, he didn't mind hugs, he never felt uncomfortable. He even started to enjoy them, although he would never admit it.

"What took you so long?" Jonas asked excitedly as he broke away from the embrace.

"I was out looking for your birthday present," Tyler said, rolling his eyes.

"Make it quick, everyone is waiting for you" said Jonas impatiently, dragging him into the living room where the party was taking place.

Arriving, he was able to spot Jonas' friends. There was Sarah and Nolan, who seemed to be in the middle of a discussion. Nolan was a bit of an odd kid, but clearly very smart. He had learned from Jonah that he was in fact an intellectually precocious child. He had few friends because of this and he and Jonas had gotten along very well, as Jonas as a child did not have many friends because he still had trouble speaking proper English coming from Germany which Nolan had helped him.

Nolan was rather small in stature, but surprisingly had muscles in his arms.

Sarah used to be rather shy, but she became very talkative on subjects that she was passionate about like movies, series, anime or manga. You will automatically become her best friend if you have already seen and liked one of the movies or other she has seen and if you share the same passions on manga, movies, series or anime.

Sarah was a very pretty girl, nevertheless she was the kind of girl who was always neglecting herself and didn't care about appearances. She was the kind of girl that you would imagine sewn up. Her hair was matted all over the place, she dressed simply and always had big black circles under her eyes. He had learned by talking with her that these rings were because of movies, series, and mangas. She often does sleepless nights for that, that's why she had a tendency to have always big dark circles under her eyes. She is a big fan of series, anime or manga, she could sometimes forget to sleep or even do her homework because of that.

"Hey Tyler, how are you? Did you get a chance to read the astrophysics book I recommended last time?" asked Nolan excitedly.

"And I hope you started the Harry Potter series. I still can't get over the fact that you never watched Harry Potter in your life, Tyler! That is a crime against humanity! My God, what did I do to deserve this?" Sarah exclaimed theatrically, throwing her hands up to the sky

Before he could disappoint them, Jonah came to his rescue.

"Let's give Tyler a break, he just arrived. Besides, he couldn't greet everyone yet, you'll have time to harass him later" sighed Jonas, exasperated.

As Jonas dragged him off to greet his other friends, he couldn't help but feel happy to see his best friend. Since they didn't live in the same neighborhood or go to the same school, it was complicated for them to see each other. So seeing him again always excited him.

He missed the days when they could see each other all the time in class when they were in the same college.

"Hey man, how are you? Jonas has been busting our chops about you, he hasn't stopped worrying about you being late, he even thought about calling the police at one point" Nathan chuckled amused as he sipped a cup of booze.

Nathan was very similar to Diego in personality. He was very flirtatious. However, unlike Diego, he is a great romantic and hopes to find the right girl one day.

"Oh my god, I'm so scared folks, what if Tyler got kidnapped and I need to call the cops quick" Tetsuya imitated taking a slightly high- pitched voice and waving his arms around which made them laugh. Even Jonas joined in the laughter,

Tetsuya has a sense of celebration and knows how to enjoy the moment. He is generous, optimistic, and easy-going. His honesty and undiplomatic way of communicating can be offensive, but he never tries to hurt anyone on purpose. He is a profoundly kind person, even if he doesn't always think twice before speaking.

He is Asian-American, Asian, but his parents were born in South Korea. He had very fine features, and had very pale skin. Black straight hair fell on both sides of his face. He looked like the Kpop stars that so many girls drooled over.

"Oh shut up, I was worried like a normal friend would be," Jonas tried to defend himself by rolling his eyes.

"Tyler was just five minutes late." chuckled Normani, amused

"Even you betray me, Normani! I am very disappointed in you," Jonas sulked, crossing his arms.

Tyler felt that Normani was more like Jonah. Selfless and altruistic, she was always looking to help her fellow man, not only to comfort him but also to help him heal. She was always ready to help.

Normani was a very pretty black girl with black skin, she was quite thin, and had a very beautiful face. What he liked most about Normani was her face, she had a very beautiful face, but especially her smile. She had a beautiful smile that charmed many. She had braces, but Tyler found that it did not remove her beauty and that it made her even cuter.

"I swear that Jonah is the father of all of us" said Tetsuya.

"I think he was even a better father to me than my father ever was," Nathan said.

Jonas had a constant need to mother others, he was always ready to pamper, spoil and help those he loved. He was a doting father, and at times he acted as if his friends were his children, always looking out for them. He was constantly worried about their safety.;

In fact, he liked to pamper those he liked until they couldn't take it anymore, brooding them, feeding them and even overfeeding them.

"You don't have a father" informed Testsuya very frankly.

"Oh yes, you're right, I had forgotten", Nathan recalled, perplexed.

"How can you forget that you don't have a father?" asked Testsuya, confused.

The evening slowly unfolded as they all settled on the couch to start a simple board game that nevertheless created childish arguments and betrayals. Tyler actually found it quite hilarious to see everyone fighting over a poor board game. Even he, who was competitive, was not as devastated by the fact that he was losing.

"You cheated Nathan and Tetsuya, that's for sure!", Sarah declared angrily.

"How could I cheat when I was sitting in front of you all this time, Sarah?" asked Testsuya sarcastically.

"Testsuya is right, Sarah, the chances that Testsuya and Nathan could cheat while facing us are very small," said Nolan with a serious tone and a frown.

"Nolan! I thought you were on my side!" declared Sarah, falsely betrayed.

"I think that's enough guys, we've played enough, everyone has won, so no loser," said Jonas, interrupting the arguments by putting away the cards.

After that, they started a karaoke night. It was more hilarious than anything else. Sarah was paired with Normani to form a duet, while Nolan, Tetsuya and Nathan were paired as a trio to sing. He and Jonas were not singing, they were actually the judges of this musical massacre.

As the duo set up to sing, Jonas moved closer to him.

"I'm glad you were able to come", Jonas said softly.

"I'm not a jerk for missing my own best friend's 19th birthday party. Plus, I was afraid Daddy Jonas would call the police if I didn't show up," Tyler said mischievously, nudging him lightly in the shoulder with his own shoulder.

"Oh shut up! You're not going to do it too," replied Jonas, falsely annoyed.

"I'll be able to tell my dad that I don't need him anymore now that I have you" teased Tyler.

"Tyler, if you don't shut up now..."

"So how was it?" the duo asked as they finished singing. Jonas and Tyler looked confused, having heard nothing of their song. Nevertheless, they quickly shared some praise so as not to get bored.

As they finished their karaoke night, they all cozied up on the couch against the pillows and blankets that Jonas' dad had generously given them for a Netflix night while eating the food and cake that Jonas had prepared.

"I don't want to watch horror movies," Normani said flatly.

"Oh, come on, it's not that scary", Nathan bribed

"Why don't we watch Fifty Shades of Grey?" asked Tetsuya.

"Do you realize that this is an erotic movie, and that they are only fucking during the whole movie?" asked Sarah calmly while looking at her friend strangely.

"Yeah, so? It could be cool" replied Tetsuya.

"It's true that it's a bit strange to want to watch this kind of movies with friends" Normani said, looking at Tetsuya with concern.

"Oh, I know, we should watch a documentary on astronomy?" asked Nolan.

"I give up" declared Sarah.

"Since we were invited tonight, I think it's best that Tyler chooses the movie so there's no jealousy," Jonas decided as he turned to Tyler waiting for an answer.

"Hmmm, I'm not a big fan of movies, but why not watch a movie that Jonas would like since it's his birthday?"

"It's not stupid. Ok, you can decide Jonas," decided Normani.

"Oh uh, I wasn't expecting that, I choose Avatar since since it's a movie I've wanted to watch for a long time."

As the movie came to a close, everyone was practically asleep on the couch. Only Jonah was awake, putting away the plates and the mess he had made. As Tyler was about to get up to help him, he froze as he felt a familiar tiredness and sadness, his throat tightened. and his hands began to shake.

Tyler violently lifted his comforter before rushing into a room. As he walked in, he noticed that it was Jonas' room. When he was finally out of sight, although no one was looking because everyone was asleep,Tyler finally allowed himself to collapse on his legs on the floor, letting the tears flow and his hands shake violently.
