Upon entering their room, Elise's heart sank at the sight of Lucas still sound asleep. She approached him gently, her voice soft yet tinged with frustration. "Hey! It's dinner time. Wake up now, or the dinner will get cold," she urged, gently shaking him from his slumber.

As Lucas stirred from his sleep, his demeanor remained distant, his eyes avoiding hers as he rose from the bed and made his way to the bathroom without a word. Elise couldn't help but notice the chill in his demeanor, a stark contrast to the warmth she had come to expect from him.

Confusion clouded her thoughts as she made her way to the kitchen, her mind swirling with questions. "Why do I feel like he's being cold towards me?" she wondered, her heart heavy with worry. Despite her attempts to dismiss the feeling, a sense of unease lingered, casting a shadow over the evening.

After washing his face and hands, Lucas made his way down to the kitchen for dinner, his mind still clouded with thoughts and worries. As he took his seat at the table, Elise's gentle voice cut through the silence, breaking him from his reverie. "You finally came for dinner," she remarked, a hint of relief evident in her tone.

But Lucas remained silent, his focus solely on the food before him as he began to eat. Despite Elise's attempt at conversation, he couldn't bring himself to engage, his mind preoccupied with the events of the day.

Once he finished eating, Lucas retreated to the hall and took a seat on the sofa, unaware that Elise hadn't touched her dinner. Lost in his own thoughts, he failed to notice the concern etched on her face, the worry evident in her eyes.

As Elise watched him from the kitchen, a pang of hurt pierced her heart. "What happened to him? Why didn't he notice that I wasn't eating? Did he just ignore me, or perhaps he was lost in thought?" she wondered, her mind racing with questions.

But even in the midst of her confusion, Elise couldn't shake the certainty that Lucas would never intentionally hurt her. "He must be thinking about something important. He wouldn't have let me stay hungry if he had noticed," she reasoned, clinging to the belief in his kindness and concern for her well-being.

After seeing Lucas's distant behavior during dinner, Elise couldn't bring herself to eat. With a heavy heart, she excused herself and made her way to the bathroom to take a bath. As the warm water cascaded over her, she couldn't help but feel a sense of loneliness engulfing her.

Lost in her thoughts, Elise couldn't shake the anticipation of what the night held. "When I go to sleep, he will definitely come to sleep beside me and say something like, 'You didn't let me do anything on our wedding night, but tonight, I will complete our wedding night,'" she mused, a shy smile playing on her lips at the thought of Lucas's affectionate words.

Despite the uncertainty clouding their relationship, Elise held onto the hope that their bond would prevail. With each passing moment, her heart swelled with love for Lucas, and she prayed that their connection would only grow stronger with time. 

After taking her bath, Elise slipped into her nightdress, her heart fluttering with anticipation as she prepared to retire for the night. With each passing minute, she pretended to sleep, eagerly awaiting Lucas's arrival in their room. But as half an hour ticked by and Lucas failed to appear, a sense of disappointment began to gnaw at her.

"Why did he not come?" Elise wondered, her mind swirling with unanswered questions. Unable to ignore the ache in her heart, she mustered the courage to check on Lucas. However, the sight that greeted her only deepened her sadness.

Lucas lay sleeping on the sofa, his peaceful expression belying the turmoil within Elise's heart. Though she longed for his presence beside her, the distance between them felt insurmountable. With a heavy sigh, Elise retreated to the bed, her thoughts consumed by the growing rift between them.
