"Be careful not to startle her when she wakes up", said a familiar voice from the door.
~What is Silas doing here?!~, she asked herself as she opened her eyes a little bit. To her surprise someone was staying above her looking right at her and that someone was one of the people she wished to never see again.
"You!", she exclaimed surprised and angry.
"Well that came a bit late", said the man standing above her with a pained expression. And with that he turned around and walked to the window closing the curtains.
"Did you sleep well in your old bed?", he asked in a soft voice.
His question was met with silence and an angry look. After that she turned around and looked at Silas who was still standing in the door. Looking at him she noticed his unusual attire. He was wearing what seemed to be the clothes of a young aristrocat, which they probably were as it was something Claude would often wear when they were young.
"Why did you bring me here?", she asked him with an exhausted expression.
"To get you treatment", he answered looking at her with red eyes.
"Treatment for what exactly?"
After a bit of silence he eventually answered.
"She won't be able to take control over your body anymore."
"Who do you mean by 'she'?", asked the man standing by the window.
Hearing his voice made her angry, so angry that she could barely contain her tears. She knew that if she were to look at him now she would lose all of the composure she was trying so hard to keep ever since they escaped.
"She knows who I'm talking about. There's no need for you to occupy yourself with it", Silas said giving him a cold look.
"She's staying at my place right now and she's using my stuff. I think I have the right to know what this is about."
"It's not up to me to tell you, if you want to know ask her yourself."
Nothing. The man stayed quiet, but she could feel his gaze resting on her. But she didn't turn around, she didn't want to do this now. She was already upset about the fact that she had to be in this building, in this room out of all the ones there were. After all this place only brought up memories of how it used to be and how everything suddenly changed while she stayed the same, always stuck in the past.
She could nearly hear the laughter of kids coming from the corridor as they ran to her room in order to wake her up.
She was lying in her bed, as she heard how someone tried to get the door open as quietly as possible and she had to try hard not to start laughing as she turned her face towards the window.
"I'm sure we'll be able to catch her off guard this time", meant a boy with incredible confidence after how often they had already failed.
"Shh, keep quiet she'll hear you", said another small boy sneaking up to the edge of her bed and just as he was about to shake her in order to surprise her and wake her up, she turned around with her eyes wide open and the creepiest smile she could pull off. And just as expected both boys screamed in horror and the butler came running in.
"What happened? Is everyone alright?", he asked with a baseball bat in his hands, ready to hit everyone who could harm them. But all he saw when he entered the room was the girl nearly suffocating of laughter in her bed, while the two boys turned completly red out of embarassment.
"Again?", said the butler quietly while shaking his head, "this is already the seventh time."
"Just you wait next time I'll scare you!", said the boy with the dark curly hair, looking at her with big hazel eyes.
"Sure you will, Cesar", said the girl between her laughs.
"Cesars right Mari, next time we'll scare you", said the other boy who stayed in the back up 'till now.
"And how are you planning on doing that, you get scared even more easily than Cesar, Claude."
"I don't!", he said now outraged.
"That's enough all of you", interrupted them the butler.
"Both of you are coming with me and you", he said looking at her, "Go get dressed, then come down to the dining hall, he wants to speak to you once you're done eating."
After they left she quickly got ready afraid that they would eat everything without her, as waiting wasn't their biggest strength. And just as she was about to leave she remembered that she had yet to give the family head her homework. She made sure to write as neatly as she could with her small hands in order to impress him, maybe if she did a good job he would allow her to take lessons along with Cesar and Claude.
Quickly she ran to her desk grabbing her notes and then hurried down, as she already heard Markus calling for her.
"What's taking him so long, we agreed to meet here half an hour ago", said Cesar impatiently.
"I'm sure he'll be here soon", she answered, even though she was just as impatient as him at this point.
"He better be, I've waited really long for this moment!"
"Oh, he's calling", she said and answered the phone.
"What are you doing Claude, why aren't you here yet?", she asked.
"I'm sorry but it looks like I won't be able to join you today, father said I had to attend this meeting with him."
"Again?? Can't you just not come for one of them, you're always cancelling our plans last minute. By now the least you could do is ask your father to hand you a schedule so you know when there's a meeting, so we don't end up waiting for you for over half an hour each day just for you to call and say you can't join us", said Cesar now visibly annoyed.
"I'm going to, okay? I promise I'll come next time no matter what, alright?"
"Alright, have fun", said Marianne and hung up the phone.
Cesar on the other hand was walking up and down muttering something.
"Are you alright?", she asked, as she knew that Cesar had put in the most work for this party, "We can just ask him to join us once he's done."
"It's fine, he'll be too tired by then."
"True", she said looking down on her phone, "I hope he'll ask for that schedule soon, this is already our fifth attempt."
"I liked the second one best", he said thinking back at the beach trip they had planned.
"I'm sure it'll work out next time, since we already told him we were going to watch a movie we might as well watch one."
"Oooh, I wanna watch 'Night terrors', it's a new movie that came out recently."
"You do know that's a horror movie right?"
"I'm sure I'll be fine", he answered confidently, "If I want to be his bodyguard I can't be scared so easily. And he was also able to overcome it, so now it's my turn, I'm not going to fall behind!"
"I don't think this is the best methode to- You know what sure", she said with a mischevious smile.
"I mean, how scary could a movie possibly be?"
Two hours later on the way home.
"Soo, how did you like the movie?", asked Marianne with a smirk on her face, she had seen how scared he was during the whole movie. It was honestly surprising that he didn't start screaming halfway through, when they saw the monster for the first time.
"It was just fine", he said trying hard to look cool.
"I can hold your hand if you want to", she said teasingly.
"I told you I'm not scared!", he said turning his head around just to feel someone breathe right into his ear like the monster did in the movie, and just as expected a scream escaped him and he sprinted up the last few stairs inside the house.
