Roses of Betrayal

Prologue Roses of Betrayal. Part II

Prologue Roses of Betrayal. Part II

Apr 04, 2024

“Watch what you say, you have no rights to talk about manners to even begin with.” Kyan's eyes twitched after hearing that and decided to let him go which made Aire stumble to the ground and gave him a quick glare out of annoyance before storming off. Kyan started to push through the crowd guards so he could walk away from the scene and others followed after him and shouted his name. Aire could only let out a deep sigh of relief. “This guy never learns.” Aire softly mumbled and rubbed his temples before he started coughing a couple seconds and he couldn't stop for a quick minute until a guard picked him up to bring him to the nursery. Kyan was stomping around and making his way to the crimson red eyed girl who was known as Crown Princess Amara's, he decided to go to her room to vent about what just happened between him and Aire like usual. However before he entered the room he heard voices coming from her bedroom. They were two unfamiliar voices he hadn't heard in his life. “Hurry up and take the princess before someone comes in the room!” One of them snapped impatiently. The voice sounded like a male with a soft tone. “I am trying my best, but she keeps fighting back. It's like she has an unlimited power of mana flowing through her.” The other voice explained. “But if you want to keep complaining why won't YOU do it!?” The voice yelled back at him, and his tone of voice sounded raspy compared to the other. Kyan couldn't believe his own set of ears and burst into the bedroom without a second thought, he saw two men covered in black slowly approaching Amara. He couldn't help but yell out “What the hell is going on..?” Making people outside hear his voice, a golden sword with a red pearl in it started to slowly appear in his left hand. He leaped forward to swing the first hit he had gotten blocked by a man with green hair. While they were focusing on Kyan, Amara took this chance to attack the blue one who was holding her down and punched him. When he took the hit he quickly jumped up and backed away from her. “Just forget about her, RUN!” The one fighting off Kyan said, the blue headed person dashed to the window and jumped out of it with the green headed person following after him. Kyan quickly sprinted to the window only to see no one on the ground somehow, he quickly gathered his confused thoughts and went to check on Amara. “Are you okay?” He shakenly asked due to the thoughts piling up that if he was a second slower she would have been kidnapped from the palace with no one watching her, he could only drop his weapon and start to hug her tightly. Amara was hugging him back with tears foaming down her eyes and reassuring him. When Kyan’s sword touched the ground a loud bang was made, it allured the people next door, and it was Aire. He quickly came to the broken bedroom of Amara looking around and wondering what happened in here. “What happened here?!” He asked worriedly with a wide shock in his face, Aire quickly walked over to the both of them and started to call guards to her room. After the guards had finally come into the room they were also in shock from not being able to hear anything that was happening in the room. They decided to take Amara away from her room and bring her to her parents, Kyan and Aire were together again, both men were just spacing out. Looking at the window and thinking of what would've happened if Kyan came too late or if it was possible to come earlier and prevented this situation from ever even happening. They couldn't help but wonder if it was their own fault for making a scene in the garden taking away the guards attention and eyes from Amara. Aire then shuffled over to Kyan with a sad expression on his face and asked him in a quiet voice: “Let's keep our fights quiet instead of loud and only between us, okay?” Kyan replied, With what reason should I do that?” He scoffed. Aire's expression quickly changed into anger and grabbed him by his arm. “Listen to me, I am not asking this for my sake, but for Amara's. Did you get that through your thick idiotic skull?” He glared down at him with fire in his eyes which made Kyan laugh with a huge smile on his face. “Fine, but that doesn't mean I'm going to say any sweeter words to you oh dear prince Aire.” He said, mocking his name without fear, Aire would only let go of him and storm out of the room with Kyan all alone in Amara's room he slowly stood up and looked out the window again but this time healing his eyes shine brighter than normal. “So, I suppose this means that the prophecy was not lying…” He whispers to himself with a smirk on his face. “History does rewrite itself now, doesn't it?” He looked up at the chandelier hanging up in the room and somehow being the only thing that remained fully attached after the attack. As he was looking up he saw his own golden eyes starting to shine brighter by the moment making him see his own eyes look the same as a dark riven cat and couldn't help but leave out a chuckle again. And so, three years later from the incident the Pharaoh was worried about revealing Amara again to the public without anything strange happening in the moment, what if someone wants to kidnap her again or even worse, KILLED. She will not stand by idly if something happens so she does not throw a huge birthday party for Amara birthday like her sixteenth again. The whole reason why the castle was in lockdown to begin with, was because of this reasoning. She was stressing with fear in her own private library, alone, with multiple open scrolls on the ground scattered around her. There suddenly seemed a knock on her door breaking the silence in her room. She didn't even look up. “Come in.” She hesitatingly voiced after a couple of seconds trying to collect her thoughts. It was Aire and Kyan in front of her door. And she still hasn't looked up to greet them. “Spare me the formalities and get straight to the point, what do you want?” She slowly started to look up at the door and sighed at the scroll that she slowly buried herself in “We would like to know where Amara is right now, we hope that's okay with you?” Kyan calmly said while walking up to her and gazing around at the "messy" private library of the Pharaoh. “She's in my chambers, trying to catch up on sleep after multiple weeks of not being able to close her eyes.” Kyan and Aire looked at each other with a surprised face and left the library right away and gave their gratitude to her. Amara meanwhile, is still trying to sleep in the comfortable bed of her mother. She had a dream... Well perhaps she can call it a vision or even greater than that! She had a dream about being in a field filled with roses just as the colour of her eyes, as far as she could look. Everything looked so very alive and charming without a hint of sadness as she was looking around in the field of roses, she saw two familiar figures. One of them slowly fell to the ground and she started to run to the scene. She stopped moving and only could stare in disbelief, despair and anger. The flowers surrounding the two figures turning black and losing their petals falling on the ground are piling up. The scene turned into complete darkness, the two figures in question was one of the people she loved fully by heart and the other she always held close to ever since they met, her breath started to shudder by the second as she approached the scene step by step and could only get on her knees and crawl towards her own mother lying there, dead in her arms while the murderer being the one of the only friends she thought she could have trust in her eyes he was supposed to be a loving friend, best friend or even a partner in the near future not a killer! But whenever she blinked the killer would switch to someone else and the person in her arms would turn into herself. She started to get confused, when she tried to get a closer look of who the killer was she heard someone calling for her name. "Amara..." A woman's voice peacefully tried to reach out to her and the whole room turned slowly to a black box. “Amara... It's time for you to finally open those beautiful eyes of yours and soon find the truth about yourself…” Amara could only look up and see a person standing in front of her but it was blurry due to all the tears. “Are you… A Goddess?” She asked the person in front of her while trying her best to regain her vision. When she was close to seeing who it was, she woke up from her thoughts with Kyan shaking her awake and Aire calling out her name. “Amara...! Amara are you okay?! You were crying while spacing out.” He worriedly asked and Kyan checked Amara's head temperature to make sure she's feeling well and not ill by any chance. She pushed off Kyan and said she was okay but a bit tired of not being able to sleep and that she only had a bad thought and nothing that should be seen as something serious. Kyan and Aire felt a little relieved after hearing that from her. “I think It's just because I am still upset over the fact that I'm not allowed to have my birthday openly this year as well.” She sighed and shrugged her arms. “Wait seriously?! After all this time you're still not shown because your mother is still scared of what could happen to you?” Aire said in a shocking tone “Unless I have a bodyguard, I can be with them full time.” She hopelessly replied and laid on the bed while gazing up at the ceiling of the room… “I even started to train my mana skills to use them at a more powerful state than before. I personally do not think I need a bodyguard.” Kyan looked down at her and laughed at what she said. . “Since I don't have anything Better to do... I can be your bodyguard.” He shyly murmured and backed off slightly from the bed. Aire was glaring at him with a cold and hostile gaze wanting to know why he wanted to even do that for Amara, but Amara quickly rose up from the bed with a smile on her face. “Are you actually serious about doing this?” She asked him. “I just feel bad that you can't have an open birthday with the whole capital of Sicilia. No other reason.” He calmly explained after catching Aire's gaze. “That is a sweet offer but you have to get through to my mother first and... Uhm…” The two boys looked at her and wondered why she was hesitant about this idea.” “Let’s just say this before anything goes down between your conversation with her…” She said in a weird tone. “Is everything alright Amar-” Kyan tried to ask “Listen to me, she will task you a billion, NO A TRILLION useless hard work for no reason!” Amara horridly said. “Amara calmed down-” Aire tried his best to calm her down. “NO! I saw this woman who was TRYING to be my bodyguard and MY OWN MOTHER somehow made the lady cry, and I am not lying. When I mean with that she cried, she cried so loudly that the entire Empire could hear her… She cries like a witch!” ….…….…….…………………………………………

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….…….

silence accrued in the room nothing but only silence. No one said a single word after she said all that. Amara just stares at them with a faceless expression after saying that. “Oh but if you want to do it you can! I have nothing against it.” She happily said but Aire and Kyan could only look at each other with worried eyes. "I-I'm not going to cry... right? Or even get weird questions about us... right?" Kyan said with a trembling voice and gulped while he imagined a couple pictures in his mind of the whole situation going down. Making himself even more scared for no reason at all. Amara could only laugh and giggle before asking him with big pleading eyes. Later that day Kyan prepared himself for the wave full of questions the Pharaoh was supposed to ask him and before he entered the private library of Imani. Knock knock knock... “Come in…” A quite tired person responded immediately to the loud noise. Kyan slowly opens the door and looks around the room again only to realise the room is less messy than the first time he walked in. “I see you’ve finally cleaned up! Will you also be able to clean up from what you did in the past-” Imani slowly flew over and put a dagger at his throat with her mana which made him playfully react and put his hands up. “Kyan get to the point why are you here.” Imani quickly shut him down. “Oh my, did I strike a nerve?” He smiled to himself, while the dagger slowly moved closer to him. “I am here to be Amara's bodyguard for her birthday party.” He peacefully stated. “And why should you out of all people guard her?” She questioned him. “Because I am someone with a high rank for a knight, someone she wants, and I am also one of her closest friends. Why could it not be me?” Imani was quite stunned back at this response and had to gather herself together before continuing to talk. “How am I sure I can trust you with those eyes?” She sneered in disgust and Kyan could only scoff in response to that. “How about a little fight, let's see how long you can fight against a couple puppets.” He was a bit sceptical about it. “How many are a couple in your eyes?” Kyan looked at her with no expression. “Do not question me.” She happily said and removed the dagger from his neck. “Just go to the room on the right that's glowing a bit.” Kyan looked at it and sensed a strong wave of overflowing mana outside of it and you could also tell by looking at it, it looked like she tried to kill him. He went to the door with a bit of hesitance in his eyes and slowly opened the door and closed it behind him, Imani smiled and looked back at the scrolls she was reading. “Let's see how long you'll last.”
