CHAPTER 10
SOMEONE NEW
I slumped to the ground in defeat, knowing that no one could help me…
A muffled scream sounded and it was just like the one I heard in the mansion where there were two women and one was betrayed but I wasn’t in the mansion. I was in a cold and dark room in the corner where I heard someone crying. I stood up and shuffled around to find a lamp or something to provide light. I found a flashlight, when I turned it on I shone it around and it looked like a library. There was a girl in the corner facing the wall.
“Please help me, they trapped me, I want to be free, I want to go home! Please help me!”
She repeated that 4 times and turned around. Her hands were chained and her wrists were losing circulation. There was blood all over her chest.
I woke up screaming and Luc put his hand over my mouth and shushed me.
“Are you planning on inviting unwanted people? Because I’m not and you shouldn’t either.” He whispered
“The screams- I know-” I couldn’t form proper sentences.
“Do you have a library?” I asked desperately.
“Yes. It’s upstairs to the left.” He told me looking slightly confused.
I raced up the stairs, hoping to somehow beat the screams in my head. I skidded to a stop in front of the library door which was old oak wood and closed. The lights were off and I went in to find the girl from my nightmare.. Adyson caught up to me almost out of breath. We went into the room and turned on the light and there in the corner was a little girl. She was whispering the words in my head.
“Please help me, they trapped me, I want to be free, I want to go home, please help me.”
And she turned around. She had the same chains and her chest was still covered in blood. It was exactly like my dream. We tried to undo the chains but they were stuck. Luc and Evaya ran in.
“What are you doing?!” Luc yelled at me.
“Help us.” Was my only answer, impatient. We finally got the girl free and she gave me a hug.
“What’s your name?” I asked her softly. The girl was shaking and her blood was seeping into my clothing.
“S-Sarah. I don’t know why they took me! I don’t know what they want! ”
I hugged her awkwardly and she started to sob. When Sarah calmed down I asked her who took her and why.
“They were tall, one had dark brown hair and the other one was wearing a mask. The one I could see had blue eyes with a scar across his left eye and the two of them just grabbed me.”
I had never seen anyone like that in my life, not even in my dreams.
“Thank you Sarah-”
She interrupted in the midst of me telling her she could go home now.
“Can I please help you guys? I know the most about this person? Please?”
Sarah begged us with pleading eyes. I pulled Adyson, Evaya and Luc into a huddle.
“I don’t know about this.” Luc said.
“She looks really young.” I added and we all frowned in her direction. Sarah, who could sense our hesitation, mentioned something else.
“I didn’t tell you guys everything I know!”
Luc growled softly, his eyes narrowing. I put a calming hand on his shoulder which he shook off almost immediately. I had forgotten that we weren’t close.
“It would be useful to have more help…” Evaya said, discomfort clear in her voice.
Once we had reached a decision, I turned to Sarah and asked, “How old are you?”
She fidgeted as she told us. “I’m 13 years old.”
The four of us looked at each other and nodded. The agreement had been met, that Sarah had to be at least 12 years old and she was, however much younger she might look.
“You’re in.” I told her. “Be prepared for something that could take your life.” I said grimly.
