Slipping on a wig, one that would make me stand out (eyes Ezekiel) I made sure it was on well so that it would not be lopsided when I went out on my hunt. So off we went, acting like fitness coaches from the 80’s with sweatbands on both of my wrists. Leg warmers and a disgustingly colourful outfit.
“Why, why did you choose this?” I complained to Ezekiel, quite loudly.
“Because.” His response was so plain and nonchalant it angered me.
I scoffed and began to get ready to leave. The shoes were colourful!
“Let’s go.” I followed my twin out the door of our shared apartment to the city below. Milan was a bustling city, filled with culture and food, but it’s quite old, making it hard not to go around circles. So after living here for 7 years, I could get around almost perfectly.
“Ria! I found him.” Ezzy whispered to me, I turned around and saw him. Ducking into a group of 50 year old women, I hid pretty well, apart from the fact I was taller than all of them. I knew he could tell we were onto him, so I started chanting out instructions to the ladies when Ezekiel joined in. They were laughing at his ridiculous outfit though, so we were fine.
Maverick veered into a cafe and I followed in behind him, my brother following my lead.
“Stay hidden.” I warned and acted all nonchalant, lining up to ‘buy a coffee’.

Once we got home, I inputted all the data I had collected into a hard drive and that was that. I did a bit more research, finding all the files of the Zomji agents. Aurielle van Husen, Austin van Husen, Aston Williams, Giselle Silva, Yuka Sato, Geronimo Rossi and Maverick Kennedy.
“Ezzy! Who else is doing the Zomji takedown?” I called to him, hoping for a response. He came bolting up the stairs, his ‘broken no longer useful leg’ seemed perfectly fine.
“My mate Elijah is doing the van Husen siblings, Evelyn is on their team leader and I think Wren is about ready to take down Aston. Maeve said the other 2 weren’t important.” Ezekiel recalled, a grin on his face.
“How do you know all this?” I questioned him suspiciously, he never knows anything, let alone pays attention to our monthly meetings.
“I just know. I do listen.” Oh. Never would’ve thought.
“So… Do you have their emails then? I have everyone’s files at Zomji.” I spluttered out the last part, not wanting to sound like a creep for researching our own teammates.
“Mhm, I’ll text them to you. Can I go watch T.V now?” He said, sounding like a little kid. Whiny voice and everything.
“Yeah. Just text them to me.”
“On it.” Ezekiel smiled that sinister one and I knew, just knew from that toothy grin he was up to something.

Only after waiting 3 hours and then looking at 3 files did I get the text with the emails I so desperately needed. Good enough for Ezekiel, I was happy that I got them at all. So with that, I logged in and emailed each one the mission folders they needed. Maverick was obviously dangerous because Maeve assigned two people on one mission, or we were just incompetent. But, Maeve had also assigned just Elijah to take down both van Husen siblings, meaning they were incompetent. Lies. They were kids of mafia parents.
“Ria, you got a visitor!” Thank god for that. If I were left alone with my thoughts and my twin for another minute I think I would explode.
“Hey Neriah!”
“Oh thank god you’re here Nova! I think Ezekiel is about to burn the apartment to the ground!” I exclaimed to my bestie boo. “Are you on a mission? Or on a break?”
“Maeve said could work with Elijah.” she explained, smiling. Her first mission. Quite a hard one at that.
“Oh, I’ve got information on those two, come up and I’ll show you it.” I informed her, my tone now more formal as this was a work matter. Nova nodded slowly and followed me up the stairs to my room.
After showing my morally supportive friend the information I’ve found and the stress I’ve been put under, she thanked me and gave me some advice on what to do. I gave her some as well, the threat the Van Husen siblings gave her and Elijah.
“Thanks again, Ria.” she smiled, walking out the door, notebook in hand.
“It’s fine. Thanks as well.” I called after her as she continued walking down the stairs outside of the door.
“What’s for dinner.” A question. Not even one, said simply as a statement. God, I really needed to teach my brother manners.
“Whatever you can cook, I’m going out.” Was my reply to his ‘question’. “Wanna come? It’ll be a bit of light work, you could say?”
“Fine.” He slung a bag over his shoulder and walked out the door.
“You have a knife in there, right? Ropes as well? Maybe handcuffs?” I questioned, one of my eyebrows raised.
“No. I’m not a psycho.” Said the murderer of 16 people.
“Well I am. Let’s go.”
“Where?”
“Secret.” I rolled my eyes at his naïveness. He let out a colourful curse at the ground and probably aimed at me. Audacious, having the nerve to not be prepared at all times and swear for having to be. I used my eyes to point to the unused basement of our shared apartment. “Understood, brother?”
“Yes, oh dearingest darlingest sister, of course I know what you mean by basement” He sneered. I gave him a slight baring of my teeth and unlocked the door and headed out, my brother in tow.
“What are we doing exactly? I’m basically immobilised and banned from running, which is 50% of the job. It’s not like I can do much.” Ezekiel remarked, stating the obvious.
“You'll have to trust me on this one, Ezzy, it won’t take us long since he’s the one truly immobilised.” I said, a grin spreading across my face, approximately the size of Jupiter.
