As soon as he said that, I immediately remembered how Daiki and I first met. On the sidewalk, it was a sunny day, my boyfriend wasn’t so sunny though. He yelled at me like it was the last thing on his mind to be modest out in public. Kurai was about to slap me. I braced myself for the impact, closing my eye’s shut in fear. I waited for about 4 seconds but for some reason it never came. I slowly opened my eyes to find a man holding back my boyfriend’s hand. “You don’t slap a lady.” These were the first words I ever heard from Daiki. Kurai immediately hated him but to me Daiki was a hero.
We ended up exchanging numbers and becoming friends over time. Kurai never approved but it was the only thing he couldn’t take away from me because Daiki wasn’t afraid to fight back. He ended up helping me a lot because of this. “2 years ago when we first met.” Daiki suddenly says bringing me back to reality. “You're going through the grief of the death of your little brother. Which died at your hand’s. It’s why you're afraid to let Kurai go. He’s the only one left from your past.” Daiki Explains.
“I couldn’t help him. He was in a state of disarray.” “I wish I could have done more for him.” I mutter. My brother attacked me in a state of rage and fear. Not understanding why he was the way he was. He was a bit different from the rest of the kids since our parents both died a year before. In defense I killed him, he was only a kid. He didn’t understand. I just wanted to protect and I ended up failing so miserably I killed him. “I know.” Daiki Sighs.
I can feel tears falling from my eye’s. I walked to the other side of the window where Daiki stood. “Hide. For your own safety.” He stated. “What about you?” I ask, My eye’s fill with worry. He smiles and huffs out a sigh. “Don’t worry about me.” He says, Guiding me to a closet in the hallway that leads to the bathroom and bedroom. I open the door and slide myself through the puffy jackets stored there. I close the door but leave a tiny crack to see what might happen. Daiki walks away from the door and sits himself on the couch. Reaching for the remote and turning off the background music that I had completely forgotten was playing. It felt like hours could pass by there though it was only a couple minutes before I could hear a key clattering into the door knob. Daiki gets up and seems ready as ever for something to happen. The door clicks, The sound of the door slowly creaking open burns a hole into my chest. I watch Daiki’s eyes widen as Kurai walk’s into view. He held a gun.
