Two roommates. One bath. How unusual but strangely consensual. Not to mention the lingering aroma of cigarette smoke in the atmosphere. It brings a calmness that makes you forget all about what happened today.
Fully clothed with their shoes neatly arranged beside one another on the tile floor, Wriothesley and you found yourselves in one of your "predicaments" again. Neither of you cared about how you looked or whether you wore clothes or not. The moment was what mattered. It's happened so often that the awkwardness of it seemed to have faded long ago. Sitting silently across one another, the lukewarm bathwater carried no scent, yet it remained clear as day. Dusk sunlight filtered in through the stained glass windows, catching your eye while you exhaled a gentle mist of smoke.
Wriothesley had to give the situation credit where credit was due - it was one of the most relaxing moments he had with his roommate. Nothing else existed, just him and his roommate being comfortable and calm despite being in an otherwise peculiar situation, just... being. So his gaze wandered over your face as you exhaled a puff of mist from your cigarette. Despite not knowing what his roommate was thinking, Wriothesley knew that he was enjoying himself, too. The tension melted away.
The exhale was soft and slow, like a brief rush of wind, coming and going in an instant. Your Adam's apple twitched when you swallowed. Those very subtle motions point towards what you may be feeling, or thinking.
But there was no time to think about that once you turned your head. You stared at Wriothesley with a gaze that was hard to read. The burning cigarette you held dangled between your index and middle finger, teetering precariously. Your eyelashes flitted to Wriothesley's hands, noticing how he was struggling with his lighter, and said nothing.
Wriothesley's hands gripped the lighter, struggling to flick it. The more he tried, the hotter his frustration got until he started trembling in silent anger. That's when he noticed the soft gaze of his roommate. For a split second, he felt your cool eyes observing him, and it took him a moment longer to realize that his friend wasn't just watching - he was expecting Wriothesley to ask him for help. That's when Wriothesley finally relaxed, putting away his lighter and asking for a light.
The water didn't make any noise when you moved as if it was remaining silent to intentionally keep the quiet moment undisturbed.
You got on your knees in the tub and leaned over Wriothesley. Your expression didn't change, neither did your breath. You stuck the tip of the cigarette back between your teeth, putting the burned end close to Wriothesley's to help him re-light it. For the moment you two remained close like that, not a word was spoken..
