Quietly Confident

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Having done this time and time again, it really was such a mytery why today, the way to the dreadful, meaningless institution called 'school', was so excrutiatingly long. I mean, it felt like I was just walking endlessly without reaching the end, as If I was stuck in a body of water tugging me down with it's strong waves and hands that grasped at me. Either way, do you get that feeling sometimes?

Actually, I've been curious this whole time. I've been talking on and on, about this mundane city and eery inhabitants, but I don't even know you.

Oh, well. I need to concentrate before my mind slips away from me again. The pesky thing had run away multiple times, leaving me to break alone.

So, where were we? Right.

I had just finally gotten back onto the ashen streets, that were filled with the dust of life's end and the stench of solitude. Ah, home.

Now, my school was pretty far away from the place I slept, so it wasn't that much of a surprise for me to get into yet another uncomfortabley shuddering situation. So, what was it now, you might ask?

Well, among the many creatures walking from point A to B without meaning, I saw tiny specks of colour. Normally, it wouldn't be a problem. But they were so vibrant. red as deep as glistenting blood, yellow that mirrored the sun's eyes, hues of blue which seemed to stretch on forever like a vast ocean. The issue wasn't the colours, but the shapes. I saw them dancing around, circles, triangles and squares alike, creating beasts that walked among the others. One of them formed next to me, waving it's slimy hand. I shuddered.

If I'm honest, it wasn't the first time something like this happened, though. But now wasn't a necessary time to delve into unknown pasts. The things of colour seemed more interesting, as the only thing alive in this place.
