It's as if the beginning was never meant to be beautiful at all, even if it was, its tint won't last long before it turns darker, becoming the worst beginning, or perhaps entwined with a fate I never knew existed. If only we had never crossed paths, never shared a beginning.
As usual, days passed among friends, and their bond grew stronger, especially since Hana played a role for Anwar and Maram. Among friends, there are no secrets, and there will be no misunderstandings, especially if one of the friends is rational and always points out the mistakes of others. However, there is always that friend who bears the burden of his friend and his mistakes, thinking he is protecting his friend's back without realizing that he might be burning something within him.
A week had passed since the basketball game, and as usual, Maram spent the weekend sleeping over at Hana's. They exchanged stories and conversations throughout the night, often ending with Maram alone, recounting her tales and talking to herself while Hana drifted into a deep sleep.
It was Saturday night, and Maram was already at Hana's house, sitting on Hana's bed with her laptop, messaging Jihad through Hana's account. Meanwhile, Hana sat at her desk chair, immersed in a classic novel, oblivious to what Maram was doing. Both were already enjoying themselves when a notification popped up on Hana's Facebook account—a new friend request from someone named 'Nouza Al.' Maram was puzzled and called out to Hana, saying, "Hana, someone sent you a friend request." But Hana didn't pay much attention and replied, "Forget about it, I think it's just a mistake. It'll be canceled soon."
They both went back to what they were doing, ignoring the matter.
Only a few minutes passed before Maram received a message on the account, bearing the words,
"Have I need waiting long to accept my friend request?" Maram trembled after reading the message, then whispered to Hana, ''It's not a mistake, look.'' Hana turned towards Maram with a look of surprise, wondering what Maram was talking about. Maram pointed towards the computer, saying, ''He sent a message, look.''
Hana jumped from her seat towards Maram, snatching the laptop from her hands and reading the message.
Then she stared at Maram, saying, ''It's not Jihad, is it?'' Maram replied with confusion, ''I don't think so.''
Then Hana said again, ''Or is it your brother, Ahmed?'' Both of them seemed to ponder the matter for a moment before quickly saying, ''Of course, it's not Ahmed.'' Then Maram asked, ''Then who could it be?''
While contemplating, Hana said, ''I don't think he knows that I'm the account owner. He seems like just a manipulative person. Let's ignore him.'' As Hana was about to return to her seat, the laptop shook with the sound of a new message notification. Hana returned to her spot, holding the laptop, while Maram sat beside her, both of them staring at the message.
Hana read the message, which said, "Um, your name is Hana, right? Well, I guess you won't respond. I know you... I want us to be just friends. Agree?"
Then Hana's hand began to shake, saying, "Who is this...? He knows me." While Maram also trembled beside her, saying, "What if Jihad finds out about this?" Both of them started to think and search for a solution. What will we do, and where did this come from now? Until Hana decided to respond to the message, saying, "Let's find out who this is first." Then she sent a message saying, "Who are you?" It only took a few seconds until he replied, saying, "If I tell you my name, you might find out shortly after searching who I am. Let me just tell you, I'll tell you who I am when the time comes, okay?" Hana wrote back to him, saying, "Why should I answer you then?"
He replied, "Um, you don't have to."
Hana read the message and laughed, saying to Maram, "We won't answer then."
Then she received another message, "Sorry, let's talk tomorrow. My dad is disconnecting the internet now. Sleep well, talk tomorrow." Maram said, laughing, "Seems like he's our age then", Hana replied, "Sleep well," then they exchanged glances and laughed together mockingly. Hana didn't respond to his messages, she just read them and handed the laptop back to Maram, saying, "Don't talk to that person. Leave it to me. Remember that." Maram nodded in agreement and said, "So you have a secret admirer, huh?" Trying to mock Hana, who seemed indifferent to the matter, she replied, "Yeah, and his dad is disconnecting the internet now." Then they both laughed about it.
Maram returned to talk to Jihad, who asked her why she took so long to reply. She answered that she went to get a glass of water because she was feeling thirsty. Meanwhile, Hana continued reading her novel, but her mind was indeed troubled. Who was this person, and how did he know her Facebook account? She hadn't even shared it with her classmates, let alone someone she didn't know. Hana seemed lost, reading the novel but lost in thought about the person who messaged her. She grew tired of thinking, then tossed her book aside and lay on the bed next to Maram, who was enjoying her conversation with Jihad.
The beautiful beginning always starts in a bad way, only to be reborn bearing the name "beginning" once again.
Could a past filled with misunderstandings between Hana and Nadir lead to a love story?"Let's take a look at our main characters and meet them in person."
