Aiden drifted into sleep within Siren's comforting embrace. She carried him to the couch in the lobby, allowing him to rest undisturbed. Alex heard everything from Siren and he couldn't fathom how the children at a young age nowadays are so vicious in their speech.
"The school principal must be afraid of Raven to not inform him about it," Alex remarked, voicing his concerns.
"He'll find out eventually," Siren replied.
A heavy silence hung between them as Siren seemed lost in thought. Unable to decipher her inner turmoil, Alex waited patiently, sensing the weight of her thoughts.
"Dexy..." Siren began, her voice trailing off. She gazed at him with a steady, unwavering expression.
Alex knew she was about to say something that would shatter his poor heart. Siren opened her mouth when he interrupted her,
"Don't even think about that. It's true that I care for Aiden and sympathize with him, but I won't sacrifice my daughter for his sake. And let's not forget, we're talking about Raven, Raven the GREY. Do you understand?" Alex spat out angrily before storming out without looking back.
Siren pressed her lips together tightly, watching Alex's departure. She sighed and returned her focus to overseeing the activities in the shed.
Meanwhile, Alex, still seething with anger, made his way to where Aiden was sleeping soundly. He pointed a stern finger at the boy.
"Don't you dare even think about kidnapping my daughter from me. She's mine, my daughter," he muttered under his breath, his arms crossed tightly across his chest as he huffed like an angry bull.
After some time, his anger subsided, and he gazed at the sleeping Aiden. The swelling on the side of the boy's lip had lessened, but the torn skin would take a few days to heal. A furrow formed on Alex's brow as he noticed Aiden's troubled sleep, the boy mumbling incomprehensibly.
Alex moved closer, listening silently, his heart aching when he saw a lone tear escape from the corner of Aiden's eye.
When it was time to drop Aiden, Siren picked him up and buckled him to the car seat. He was still asleep so Alex suggested she should drive his car instead of bike. He was unwilling to wake up the little boy who was sleeping peacefully.
As Siren settled into the driver's seat and started the car, Alex approached the car window, his expression serious.
"Did you think it through?" he inquired, his tone cautious.
Siren couldn't help but smirk at his question, amusement twinkling in her eyes as she met his gaze.
"Aren't you the one who was so unwilling before? What's changed now?" she retorted, a playful glint in her eye.
Alex scoffed, "Of course, I'm still unsatisfied with that Raven boy, but for the sake of this little boy, I can tolerate him and that Conan guy," he muttered begrudgingly.
As Siren closed the car windows to keep out the cold air and began driving steadily toward the Grey mansion, Alex remained standing, watching the car depart with a sense of helplessness.
"Aiden... is not motherless," that's what the little boy mumbled in his sleep, his words stubborn even in slumber refusing to admit defeat. The remark stirred bittersweet memories within Alex, causing a bitter smile to tug at his lips.
Raven was checking a document in his study when he received a call from his secretary, Ian, informing him about Aiden's involvement in a school corridor fight. Ian mentioned that the Academy's principal assured to demand an apology from the other party involved.
Raven's instincts immediately told him that if Aiden was indeed involved, it wouldn't be a trivial matter.
Instructing Ian not to take any immediate action, Raven decided to handle the situation himself. He needed to speak with his son personally and understand the details of the incident.
Siren must be aware about this, that's why she took initiative to inform him before taking him to the shed even though that occurs frequently now.
Closing the document, Raven exited his study and descended the stairs, where he spotted Siren carrying a sleeping Aiden in her arms, with the butler following closely behind, carrying Aiden's backpack.
Approaching them, Raven examined the wounds on his son's cheek. His expression darkened at the sight of the bruising, even though the swelling had subsided somewhat since receiving treatment. He could tell how severe it must have been before.
Raven gave a side glance to his butler, who understood his master's silent command. With a gentle touch, the butler carefully lifted Aiden from Siren's arms and carried him to his bedroom.
Siren looked at Aiden's sleeping face where the unharmed cheek was pressed at the butler's shoulder. As if realizing the change of body temperature he stirred in butler's arms but soon went back to sleep.
In the quiet hall, Siren and Raven stood facing each other, their gazes meeting in a silent exchange.
Breaking the silence, Raven spoke, "Thank you for taking care of him. I just heard about what happened at school from my assistant."
Siren simply responded with a quiet affirmation, and once again, the room fell into silence. After a moment, she spoke, her voice steady and devoid of any emotion.
"Mr. Grey, let's get married."
