Master's knowing gaze hasn't moved, not one bit from me. Right, distraction failed. Picking up the flyer as the world intended, I deliberately put up a disturbed look.
"Why the long face? It's a public celebration, free of charge."
"You said that but the main event is actually locked behind a paywall because Ariel the Prima Donna will be performing inside."
"Worried about the tickets? I can secure one for you. You know me."
"It's not the party itself I'm worried about..."
He speaks in a very roundabout way, which could only mean it's laced with hidden intentions. "...Anything else but this?"
"Of course not. It's the biggest event in the century for Cathures. Heck, in Caledon even. I'd be a huge shame to miss it. Participate as a guest, and you'll get the time of your life, however, as a reporter, it's the scoop of the century."
Propping up a hand under my chin, my thoughts sink for a while. I've been working as a journalist for the time being, despite my lack of journalism background. The publishing office I'm working at was desperate for people, explaining my unusual acceptance. Reviews of food, places, novels, songs, shows, those were the kind of basic articles I was asked to do. Now, my editor wants more or to quote him; I want something sensational.
Master's connections are exceptional, and significant for me to further expand my career. Then again, him being a Keeper member does help.
It's not like I haven't got connections. It's just... I prefer not to use it.
"Really," Master's voice grows weary. Sometimes I wonder how far are his limits when it comes to dealing with me. “A shame that a person with a remarkable network like you refused to make use of her connection. A tip from me; networking is paramount in every industry. One good word to a publicly respectable person could turn everything upside down.”
"Ugh... you sound exactly like my editor."
"Did you refuse because he is guaranteed to be there?" Master notices me throwing my glance away. "I consider that a yes."
I sighed in defeat. In all honesty, I would accept the job in a heartbeat, but I could not——I don't want to.
Because one of the key guests for Twilight Art Museum's Grand Opening Celebration is my uncle, the Director of Eurus.
