The name of this world is Tellus. and they say this is a world that stood upon the ashes of the Old World, the world of humans. Politically and geographically speaking, Tellus is divided into four regions; Sceadu, Naurta, Nostrum, and Eurus. They may come off with each of their own names, such as Sceades, Naurtan, Nostrumen, or Eurusian, and despite having a wide variety of sub-races under different names, everyone will always be referred to as Tellusen.
Let's review Tellus' history for a bit. Long ago, there were six powerful figures for becoming the foundation of present Tellus, known as Progenitors, they are Dunskad, Ao, Mehi, Makos, Thnesko, and Ninnan. Everyone preaches them as if they are some sort of divine figures, and you can't exactly fault them for that. They hold extraordinary powers, some that may have briefly touched the realm of divine interference, and us Tellusen have inherited their teachings, abilities, and flair until present time. Naturally, we can never reach their level of greatness, and whatever shred of originality derived from their original abilities can no longer be discerned, but the world owes their Trait from the great Progenitors.
Trait refers to one's innate skill. It's more or less akin to a form of art that has been perfected for centuries to reach the form it is in present time. Also, it's highly important to emphasize how due to ancestral blood, it's outright impossible to master a Trait from a different Path, which are the many branches of study in regards to the Progenitors' original knowledge. To simplify the explanation, let's take Makos for example, the Progenitor figure for Eurus, and the knowledge he bestowed to his people would later be known as the Path of Psyche. According to known history, Makos was renowned for his strategic thinking of navigating and analyzing through the complexity known as man's emotions, and thus known worldwide as the "Father of Mediator". One of his most prominent achievements was the development of sound to interfere with one's psychological state, allowing him to manipulate and grant them a wide variety of emotions, such as anger, sadness, happiness, and the like —— in other words, Makos was responsible for the groundbreaking evolution known as music.
Psychology being the keyword in this case, and through that, it allowed others to dig deeper, branching from the word, discovering an entirely new thing. Although, most of the inventions after that have become rather cruel than how it was intended to be used, like the idea of using one's mind to influence others, or straight up reading their thoughts. I'm quite certain Makos hadn't expected the idea of hypnosis as means when he left the world ages ago. There are other Paths as well, but that's something to talk about as we progress further. While it's true that one's Trait is granted from birth, it's possible of other Traits so long as it belonged in the same Path.
Alright, back to Tellus. Regarding its origin, it was universally and academically agreed that Tellus was first 'conceived' some time after the Great Break, but the surrounding world is speculated to have existed far longer than that, considering the age of Primordial Beasts was set prior to the Great Break.
The Great Break was a worldwide event that marked the victory of Tellusen against humans. It was time of significance where Progenitors managed to brought down a reign of terror and destruction, consequently leading to the adjustment of the world to how the victor sees fit. All of this massive change leads to a more pressing matter; if the world was changed, then what happened to the surviving humans?
Ultimately, there were two types of humans that rose during the war’s aftermath; those who continued to live amid immense pressure from Tellusen, and finally, the troublesome ones whose primary activity is to cause terror across the land.
The latter in particular, are keenly engaged by the idea of reclaiming their lost glory, and that means wishing to drown Tellus in a fight for dominance. For their destructive ideals, humans were given a derogatary nickname; Defiled.
As a means of countermeasure, Keeper was founded, the only law enforcement agency in Tellus. An interesting fact about them is that the organization has no sole commanding figure, so authorities are evenly distributed to four Region Directors.
Apparently, my uncle, Roland Richter happens to be the Director of Eurus. You might think I'm enjoying the perks of nepotism, but no. It's quite the opposite actually. I'm not close, and I haven't had a heart-to-heart talk with him since ages for a simple reason.
I was born from the union between a Tellusen mother and a Defiled father, and the whole Richter Clan hates me for that.
A woman with many "mistakes", Juliette Richter commits to build the most normal and standard life of a law abiding citizen so that she may pay for her "mistakes". One day, she came across as a terrorist target, becoming another addition to her "mistakes".
Will she be able to pay her "mistakes", whatever that is?
