In the early evening, Tetsu and I were sitting on the couch. I felt a lot better, but still not my best. I was laid against him, and he was behind me. His cellphone and was in front of us, and we were watching funny Youtube videos together. Cats with their tongues out, bears having sneezing attacks, things like that. I enjoyed hearing him laugh behind me, and going, "Waa, kawaii" over and over, exclaiming how cute all the animals were.
We refreshed the page, looking for more. My eyes widened, and I said, "huh?" in English.
"A new video from Lyra's channel?" Tetsu asked behind me, as curious as me.
"Why is there a new video?" I started giggling at the thumbnail. "What are they doing?!"
Staring up at us from the cellphone were Nobu and Masaki, their hands over their mouths, white milk pouring down their chins, their eyes in all funny directions. The name of the video was "Milk challenge/we're so dumb". We burst into laughter, Tetsu's body jumping against mine, giving me a warm feeling.
Tetsu clicked on the video, and what met my eyes!
Nobu, with his short, fluffy orange dyed hair and wearing his trademark blue contacts was holding a gallon of milk. Masaki, with his chocolate brown hair to his shoulders and wine/brown colored lipstick and black eyeliner, was also holding a gallon of milk. A timer started counting down. Ten seconds, and a giant warning flashing in red, "DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME, WE'RE DUMB". The warning made me lose it, just lost in my laughter.
The timer flashed, "START!" and they yelled, "KANPAI!" together, hitting their milk cartons against each other. CHEERS, they'd said!
Without wasting a second, they started gulping the milk down. Nobu shoved Masaki, who almost dropped his milk, and caused it to miss his mouth, pouring down his body. This made Masaki simply throw some of his milk at Nobu, soaking him also, which made Nobu fight back. But, they continued drinking, fast as baby cows. After about twenty seconds, it was easy to see they were struggling.
At the thirty second mark, Nobu bounced off camera, and it was clear he vomited in the sink. Masaki put his milk down on the floor and sat on the floor. Nobody was in frame for a few moments.
Masaki's long wail was picked up somewhere in the distance, "We're so dumb, this was a stupid idea, Nobuuuu", an irritated voice. "Nobuuu, I'm going to kill youuu". Nobu was laughing so hard. Masaki continued, "I'm soaked, ahhh, who's going to clean this up, I hate you".
Then suddenly, in frame was Nobu's dog, a big German shepherd named Mukudori. Mukudori could clearly be heard lapping up some of the spilled milk.
"Oh crap, Mukudori is going to get the runs," I laughed, "Nobu, get your dog!" I was helpless in laughter, tears starting to emerge from my eyes. Tetsu was beside himself at this point.
The video jumped forward in a cut, and Nobu and Masaki were on camera again, wearing new clothes. It was clearly some time later. "What should we do next? Tell us a challenge! See you soon!" Nobu grinned, snapping his fingers and pointing at the camera. Masaki looked at him, his eyes wide. "Next?! Hey, wait a minute-" and the camera went to black. The video ended.
I snorted, started wiggling in my joy. Tetsu scrolled down to look at the video description. The first sentence warmed my heart. Feel better, Sana-chan!
"Oh wow, did they do this for me?" I whispered, trying to contain myself. Tetsu's chin landed on my shoulder, his cheek pressed to my cheek.
"I hope they do more. What a great idea," Tetsu said, his voice full of gladness. I nuzzled my cheek into his, and he nuzzled mine. He continued. "I haven't heard you laugh like that in a while. I'm going to tell them. They have to keep making videos like this. This is great."
This brought me pause. It was true. I hadn't laughed like that in a long time. I was shocked. For about a minute, I'd felt...normal. After a few seconds with this feeling, I wanted to cry.
But not tears of sadness. Tears of joy. What a strange feeling.
Tetsu put the cellphone on my lap and his arms wrapped around my middle. Pressing me to him. I relaxed completely, and turned my face to his. He turned his to mine. He was smiling so contently.
He kissed me tenderly, and I relaxed into the kiss further.
"I love your laughter," he said quietly, his love showing so clearly in his sparkling eyes, still full of tears from his own laughter.
"I love yours, too," I sighed, smiling freely, full of pure happiness, for the first time in a long time.
He nuzzled my cheek again, and picked up his cellphone. He went to the Youtube homepage, and opened another cute animal video for us. My smile never left my face.
