~What is going on? Why can't I move my body?~, he asked himself panicked. He tried screaming for help, but not a single sound could escape his mouth. Instead he felt how something started moving inside his arm.
When he looked down he saw how something was crawling under his skin. And all he could do was lie there and watch how that something made it's way to his heart. He felt every single step it took and with it there came an immense amount of pain.
By the time it had reached his heart he was barely awake and his breathing was faint. The moment it touched his heart it felt like the whole world stopped, as it made itself a nest in his heart. And with that everything went black for a second and when he opened his eyes again everything seemed sharper than before, even the pain that started to move from his heart into every single one of his limbs.
He wanted to scream for help, but it felt like someone was covering his mouth and he couldn't make a single sound. After that the pain came back. It was as if thousands of needles were being stuck into his body all at once and he couldn't do anything about it.
As time went on the pain became more and more unbearable. At some point he just stopped trying to resist and scream for help, instead he gave himself away to the pain. And to his surprise everything seemed to be less painful after that and with this new revelation he closed his eyes waiting for it to stop.
After what felt like an eternity the pain did eventually stop, but it left him scarred for the rest of his life.
"Finally, it stopped", he said in a trembling voice and the tears he tried so hard to suppress started streaming down his face.
"What am I doing, I can't cry over something like this, I promised her", he mumbled trying to wipe his tears away, but they just wouldn't stop.
*Here*, said a voice in front of him, holding out a handkerchief.
Thankful he took it and wiped his tears and after calming down a bit it dawned on him. There was someone in here with him. Nobody should have been able to come inside the lab without permission, but when he looked up he realized that this wasn't the laboratory.
Agitated he looked around trying to find something that could help him identify where he was, but no matter where he looked there was nothing, absolutely nothing. It was a neverending room covered in white.
*There's no need to worry, you're safe here.*
Hearing the strange voice he turned around and there stood a boy. The boy in front of him looked extremely similar to himself, no in fact he was a carbon copy of him, aside from those unfeeling pitch black eyes.
"Who are you?", he asked slowly backing away.
'Isn't it obvious?', said another voice directly behind him.
Panicked he turned around just to see another version of himself standing there and as he turned around again trying to get away he saw another one of them.
No matter where he tried to run to another one would pop up telling him to relax, but he didn't want to listen and ran away again.
After repeating this process a few times some of them were getting annoyed and so they caught him and held him in place. The others looked at him either curiously or with disdain.
Seeing all of them surround him and talking to him as if they knew him he started to hyperventilate. His heart started beating at an alarming rate and no matter how fast he was breathing it felt like he wasn't getting any oxygen at all and with that the voices around him started to become more dull. His vision also became blurred and not even seconds later he collapsed.
When he woke up again only two of them were left observing him.
*Feeling any better?*, asked the one with black eyes.
-You really think he's going to answer you?-, meant the second one and just like the first one he was his splitting image, aside from his glowing eyes. One of them was a warm gold tone while the other was a silver similiar to his own eyes.
"You, what are you?", he asked slowly sitting up.
*Who*, corrected him the first one. *And to answer your question, I am you.*
"What?", he asked perplexed.
-You broke him-, meant the second one looking at the first one.
*What do you mean I broke him, I just answered his question.*
-Exactly!-
*Oh, as if you would have done a better job.*
-Of course, I would have, I...-
While they continued arguing he slowly got up and looked around, it was the same place as before. And maybe it was just his imagination, but it seemed like it got a bit darker. The next thing he noticed was that they weren't speaking, at least not out loud. Their voices were in his head.
*Well you're right about that*, meant the first one looking at him.
"I didn't say anything", he said backing away.
-You don't have to. We are you, remember?-
"You weren't joking", he uttered in disbelief.
*Of course not, why would we?*, the first one said slowly approaching him.
"Don't come any closer!", he screamed, fear swinging in his voice.
Hearing that he stopped without taking another step, instead he sat down with a loud sigh. He was way too calm in a situation like this, even the second one was nervous and confused in the face of what was happening, although he was good at hiding it.
Just as the first one opened his mouth to say something a loud voice resounded in the room.
"What happened? Hey, can you hear me ---"
*Isn't that-*, but before he could finish his sentence the room slowly started to crumble and the boy in front of them started to fade as the ground behind him slowly began dissolving.
Just as he was about to disappear the second one came forward and walked past the boy. As a result the boy started to reappear and instead the second one disappeared.
-I'm not letting you go that easily-, he said before he completely disappeared and with that the room reconstructed itself.
After years of being isolated from everyone Silas finally escapes. But now that he's free he doesn't know what to do and his pursuers are starting to close in. Will he be able to fully escape or will he lose everything while trying, even his own life?
"Who are you?", asks the confused and scared voice.
The dark being in front of him smiles at him with that horrendous smile, that he despises more than anything else.
"Can't you see it? I am you."
