“Do you not see?” I turned around to show her the boy that I found, but there was no one there.
“Do I not see what?” Junie pondered.
“I.. There was someone here…”
“The only person I see here is you.”
Footprints in the sand! They couldn’t fail me. As I looked down, I was disappointed to see that all I saw were my own tracks, and then the new ones that Junie made. What?! That made no sense! Did I perhaps dream of meeting this boy called Ichthys, or what?
“I must have been dreaming….”
“Erm…” Junie cleared her throat as she took me gently by the shoulders. “Ok crazy lady, let’s go back to the house.”
Not putting up much of a fight, I let Junie lead me back to the house. I did take one last look over my shoulder on the way back, and thought to myself, did I really dream it all up?
“I have found the damsel!” Junie exclaimed as Arlo came out of the back door as we entered the garden again.
“Oh, good.” Arlo came to a stop in front of us, relief clearly showing on his face. “But why did you run off?”
I didn’t really know what to say, but I told them the half truth with a bit of lying involved. In the end, I told them that the weird light we saw was just a drone and it ended up getting washed away before I could rescue it. Luckily for me, neither of them pried anymore than that, and all three of us returned to the house. Once we were inside, Junie picked up her bag.
“Well, I think me and him should be heading off now. Don’t really want to get told off by Mr Grease, if we were late again.”
“The only one who is late is you..” Arlo pointed out.
“I’m not late! Everyone is just early.” Junie pouted as we made our way to my front door.
“Yeah, that’s not how it works…” Arlo once again pointed out.
“Oh, shut it!” Junie opened up the door, and playfully kicked Arlo out the door.
“Are you sure you wanna go home now?” I asked Junie as she herself walked out the door.
“I’m sure that a certain someone would love to spend forever here. But, alas, it is ten, and I need an escort home.” Junie half laughed to herself.
“Ah, well… Goodnight!” I waved her off as Junie walked down the path towards where Arlo was standing.
“Laters!” Junie waved back as both she and Arlo reached the end of the path and started to make their way back into town.
Once she knew that I was out of earshot, Junie jabbed Arlo in the ribs.
“Moron, but whatever…”
“Ow! What was that for?”
“It’s for…” Junie was about to say something else, but she decided against it. “You need to escort me home!”
“And that requires violence?”
“Yes… Yes it does.”
After I watched my friends leave my line of sight, I closed the door, locked it for the night, and started to turn the rest of the house lights off, to get ready for bed. When I returned to the bedroom, I saw the plate of cookies on my desk and I also saw a little post-it note attached to it. Plucking it from the plate, I saw that it read:
Save some for breakfast?
I couldn’t help but let out a small giggle. He knew me a little too well since, if no one mentioned it? I would have totally had the rest of them tonight, and there would be none for tomorrow. With that happy thought, I dressed more appropriately for sleep, and slid into bed. As I lay there, looking up at the ceiling, my mind wandered back to earlier. Was seeing that mysterious boy, called Ichthys, really just a strange day dream? It doesn’t make sense, as I don’t usually stand around and dream up imaginary people. I’m not really smart enough for that! Groaning to myself, I sat up and grabbed my recent book that I’ve been reading from my bedside table and turned to where my bookmark was.
Romance novels are seriously my guilty pleasure, however the more erotic they are, the better. However, if they contained cute innocent romance? Then that's fine too. It was weird to some, but normal to me, since these are the only books I could stand reading. Anything else? I would find it boring, or give up after the first chapter. So now, it’s romance or nothing.
I read my latest novel for a bit, before I decided it was time to turn in. Placing my book back where I got it from, I made sure my alarm was on, and switched the bedside lamp off. With the warm fuzzy feeling I get from the novels, I nestled myself in the sheets and slowly drifted off to sleep.
On the girl's balcony, peering through a small gap in the curtains on the other side of the glass, there was a small, round, dark coloured bird. It was unknown how long this bird was here for, but one thing was for certain…
They were staring intently into the now darkened room.
