- CHRIS POV -
The game ended close to ten, and everyone started to pack up and head home. The food was gone and the drinks drunk… Sarah’s 25th Birthday party was a success. It was kind of childish to still be playing this sort of game at our age, but it had been 3 years since graduating from college and as far as reunions went, it was pretty tame. If we didn’t entertain ourselves after juggling Degree lectures and internships, what else was there to do? Plus, it was held at Sarah’s luxurious Condo and it was Sarah's favourite game... *sigh* I was such a suck for this woman. She could literally ask anything of me, and I would do it in a heartbeat.
As we all started to say our goodbyes, I went over to the coat rack and grabbed my jacket. As I did I saw a notice fall out from her stack of letters that she left on the small table next to her door.
The paper was pink, and as I flipped it over, "EVICTION NOTICE" was stamped right over the top of the letter.
I heard the sounds of footsteps, and I quickly pocketed the letter and stepped back into the living room area.
"You better not try anything with Lily behind my back, I'm watching you" Lavender said as she gave me the eye. Lavender and Lily were high school sweethearts, which is the main reason why aside from Sarah, I had never had a thing with Lily. I loved to tease them about it though.
"You betcha, not gonna touch a strand of hair on her head" I replied as I acted like I was just adjusting my jacket and getting ready to leave.
"Honey I'm going" Lavender shouted and Lily responded brightly in kind.
"Coming darling!" Lily said brightly and after saying her goodbyes to Sarah, followed Lavender as she got her coat.
"Bye Chris, glad you still think so fondly of me" Lily said as she passed me in the corridor.
I was about to respond but Lavender turned back and yanked Lily out through the front door and slammed it in my face.
I heard some muffled arguing outside and I felt a teeny bit bad, but then I remembered the eviction notice and forgot about the possible heartbreak I might have caused - it was a joke! jeez.. s
I lingered in the kitchen while Sarah showed out the last of the guests. Once I heard the door closed I popped my head out to see if there was anyone left. Seeing no one I looked around for Sarah.
Sarah was out on the balcony with a glass of wine in her hand and a really sad expression on her face.
"Umm, sorry Sarah, I need to ask you something" I said, stepping out on the balcony.
Sarah jumped, spilling some of her wine on the floor.
