Wing marched the edge of the Great Tree's borders one night after another. He would take a step out, but pull back in as soon as the abyss felt like it was starting to take him.
Juniel put him through rigorous training on times he didn't have any hunting to do with the other warriors. As she'd promised him, there would come a time when he'd step out of the safety of the Great Tree. One day, into the darkness that never settles, he'll journey through it too.
Half a season later, the Anima King and Queen gave birth to another boy, one Juniel told them to name as their heir even though Sun, the eldest was already born.
Tip joined now and again on Wing's private training. She had less trouble stepping into her new role as a replacement for Cini, a new protégé. She was also the sparring partner to the Prince of Anime, Sun for his recent Light Marking (later on called an Insignia).
Sun presented as early as 73 days after Zhen and his party left. In the years recorded of Seeds, he was the earliest to ever show with an Insignia. The Anima King and Queen looked to Juniel's prophecy to finally admit that they would have to name their newborn their heir after all.
The year after, Tip became the youngest to have one. It was also the year the Anima and Solum tried to bring their two tribes together by engaging Princess Nou and Wing together.
Then two years later, much to his chagrin, Wing presented too, just like Juniel had told him he would. His engagement was kept, if only for respect to the Solum, however, they had started to entertain new suitors for their only daughter- another Solum Warrior, if permitted.
At this time, Juniel's prospects were also in question. One possible Ignis was put in the lot of men she would one day choose from. She put it off for as long as she could. Four years it took her, and she called for a gathering of everyone for her decision.
Juniel announced that she too was a Gärd, only days before the Light went away and darkness befell the Great Tree.
By then, she'd orchestrated all she could for the prophecy she saw. The best outcome, she would tell Wing, was for all the things to come true within the seven years they had or else, what was her foresight for?
For the Great Tree, the chosen Gärds was like a punch in the gut. They were losing so much. Seven years was not a long time to rebuild.
"We will return," Juniel told them on the day of her announcement. "It's unprecedented, but Sun, Tip, and I will return and it will the marking of a new Light. That is what I saw."
Truth was, she only saw how things would begin and end, nothing in between. So however the "in between" had to be played out, she had no clue.
She could promise coming back, but it all hinged on Wing, the only one she hadn't named would return.
The Lighting Tree calls for one special person every 7 years to journey through the Abyss with four trusted companions. Additionally, Zhen must give up his human desires and connections to fulfill the calling. However, what happens when his connections can't give him up?
