“Alpha, sir. Do I have permission to enter?” Somebody knocked on the infirmary door.
“Yes, of course.” Alpha closed his notebook, quickly dragging the dead body into a portal before it closed.
“Come in.” The door opened, an employee with the name tag, Blaze walked in.
“What do you need?” Alpha’s mask didn’t show any of his emotion, but telling by the tone of his voice, he was probably smiling.
“Somebody fell into the time current and made it out alive, I just need some healing elixir.” Blaze walked into the infirmary, grabbing a few bottles. “Thank you, sir.” She walked out, along with Alpha. “Idiot. How does one achieve the talent to fall out of a perfectly secured building?” He mumbled, looking at the shameful worker who was screaming in pain.
Before Blaze could give her co-worker the healing elixir, the screaming stopped in an instant. The unfortunate man was shot dead by someone or something.
“EVERYONE, BACK AWAY! WE DON’T KNOW IF THE INTRUDER IS PLANNING TO SHOOT ANYONE ELSE!” Blaze instructed, pulling her polearm out, on guard.
“Great job as always, but you can relax. I’ll be doing a perimeter check around the exterior of the building.” Alpha pointed Blaze’s polearm point down.
“What about the time currents?” She showed concern.
“You know me better than that. Even if I did fall into a time current, I could teleport out just as quickly. If anything, you should be more concerned about your panicking squad!” Alpha let out a laugh before walking through a portal.
“Impeccable aim as always, Akari is it? I forget if that’s the name you’d prefer or not.” Alpha repaired the ceiling, filling in the hole that the gunshot left.
“Don’t call me Akari, I abandoned that name a long time ago.” Six eyes glared at Alpha through the bars of the cell. “My apologies, my memory is just as bad as my eyesight!” He pointed at his eyes jokingly.
“Anyways, Omega, make yourself useful and go and fetch Snowfall from his mission. If he resists, you already know what to do, as always.” Alpha opened the cell door, unlocking the chains that bound Omega to the cell.
“Go on now.” Alpha patted Omega’s shoulder, handing him a mask.
“…Yes sir.” Omega scoffed, creating a portal, walking through it. As he was no longer out of sight, Alpha put his hand on the scanner, opening the metal doors. As the doors closed, it was as if there was never a door there in the first place. He walked away, acting like nothing happened.
“Corvus, do you copy?” Alpha held a radio up, speaking into it.
“Copy. What do you need, sir?” A female voice responded with slight static.
“Meet me in the infirmary, I need to conduct some experiments.” He put the radio into his pocket, strolling down the halls in the direction of the infirmary. He passed by his workers, watching some struggle, some do everything perfectly. Alpha simply ignored those who called for his help, leaving it to other high ranking workers, he had a place to be, surely it’d make up for neglecting his employees. After all, he was a busy man.
“Ah, Corvus! Quite the fast one aren’t you now?” Alpha turned the doorknob to the infirmary, holding the door open for Corvus. “After you.”
“Thank you, sir.” A tall woman walked through the door, despite her gender, the figure of her body was quite masculine. No wonder she was one of the squad leaders. Alpha shut the door behind him, locking it.
“Good to have you here, Emilia. Yes, yes, I know you don’t like it when I use your actual name.” Alpha could already see growing anger in her eyes. “But– you’re my puppet. I decide what to do with you. I decide what I can and won’t call you. Know your place, or do I have to remind you?” Alpha grabbed her face, his claws piercing into her skin. Corvus showed great fear for that moment.
“So, do I make myself clear, Emilia?” Alpha let go of Corvus, awaiting her answer.
“Y-Yes sir. I won’t show anymore remorse or resistance…” Blood was dripping down her face, hands trembling.
“Splendid! Now, let me see your arm.” Alpha said. Corvus extended her arm out, before it was sliced off. She winced. Even though she knew that her arm would regenerate, it still hurt.
“You can leave once your arm and wing regenerates.” Alpha picked up the arm.
“My wing–?” Corvus seemed confused right before Alpha ripped one of her wings off, blood began pouring down like a waterfall. She screamed in pain when Alpha did so. Instead of helping Corvus up, he kicked her in the head.
“Shut up, the pain will pass. Besides, screaming will raise suspicion towards me.” Alpha stepped on Corvus’ head, pressing down.
“Understood?” He only put more pressure as a puddle of blood formed on the ground from the area that Alpha tore off Corvus’ wing.
“Y-Yes…s-s-sir…” She tried to nod before Alpha set his foot on the ground, allowing her to move freely in the infirmary. She tried climbing onto one of the beds, but Alpha blocked it off.
“Don’t want to stain the mattress, do you now? It wouldn’t make any sense if there was blood on the beds when no one is hurt!” Alpha teased, making her stay on the ground. For now, he didn’t even bother to look at the wing and arm, he simply wanted to make Corvus suffer.
“You know, I don’t make someone suffer just for nothing. That mission a few days back, you don’t think I know what happened? Sparing the lives of those children? I thought I told you to kill off EVERYONE in that realm.” He sat down on one of the beds, stroking Corvus’ head as she trembled.
“But I’m sure you’re wondering what happened to those children.” Alpha grabbed Corvus’ chin, forcing her to look up at him.
“I simply finished the job for you...we all need to get a good meal, you know?” He looked into the fearful eyes of a mighty warrior, letting out a laugh moments later. “Well, this was a very meaningful one-sided conversation!” Alpha stood up, unlocking the janitor closet within the infirmary, grabbing a mop and a bucket of liquid.
“Well, you’re all healed up and you’re not doing anything. Make yourself useful and clean up the puddles of blood, use this towel to soak up the blood and then dispose of it into the time currents. Once you’re done, let me know and you’ll be assigned your next mission, carry on.” Alpha handed Corvus the cleaning supplies. Even though he had a mask on, a smile was under it.
Corvus showed despair, pity for the children she had worked so hard to save. She looked at the shiny, clean floors.
“What have I done…?” Corvus murmured, looking at her reflection. “Why did I accept this job…?” She continued moping until Alpha instructed her to leave, the job was done.
“Finally. The sound of regret might’ve been funny at first, but now it’s just plain annoying…” Alpha complained as he locked the infirmary door, finally starting to study the arm and wing.
“Demonic blood… this isn’t what I need. Species 00126 is useless, these healing potions aren’t improving… not one bit! I guess it wouldn’t hurt to have a snack.” Alpha closed his notebook and picked up the arm, taking a few bites out of it after taking off his mask. Unsatisfied by the taste, he disposed of it along with the wing.
“Alpha, sir. I have retrieved Snowfall, are there any other tasks that need to be done?” Omega startled Alpha, speaking through the radio at a sudden time.
“Tell Snowfall to report to me in my office, after that, just check on everyone’s progress. Report back in three hours.” Alpha put his mask on before leaving the infirmary. Again, he slowly walked to his office, enjoying the sounds of pain and sorrow.
“Snowfall, glad to see you made it back in one piece! I mean it when I say I’m very glad, I mean, you’re the only one who was able to complete this mission without dying.” Alpha walked up to Snowfall, patting him on the back as he unlocked the door to his office.
“I’m one of the squad leaders, I only offer the best service to you.” Snowfall entered the office, taking a seat on one of the chairs.
“Did you terminate everything in that realm?” Alpha sat down on his chair, waiting for an answer.
“Yes sir. Everything and everyone.” Snowfall had a tall and muscular figure, his icy blue eyes looked directly at Alpha, not breaking eye contact.
“Splendid! Why don’t you help yourself to a meal before your next mission is assigned?” Alpha clapped his hands, hinting to Snowfall to follow him.
“What mission will be assigned next? If you don’t mind me asking.” Snowfall went with Alpha, trying not to walk too fast.
“Well, you always complete your missions, with a good attitude as well! So, yes, I will tell you. Since you’re the only wanted criminal in this agency, I will have you arrested by the Multiverse Prison. But– you will secretly be gathering information and getting the prison maps memorized. Oh yeah, try to learn more about the warden and the strongest officers.” Alpha explained happily. “I know you’ll do a flawless job on this mission, but we must part ways for now. Take a right here and the break room will be right around the corner, this key will unlock the door.” Alpha tossed the key to Snowfall.
“Report to me when you’re done.” He began walking away from Snowfall, leaving him alone.
“Sweet. Let’s see what we’ve got in here…” Snowfall walked up to the door, unlocking it. There wasn’t much in the break room, there were some comfy looking seats, coffee tables, cabinets, and a microwave.
“Not bad.” Snowfall walked up to the microwave, opening it. Before Snowfall could do anything, a cloth was aggressively put in his face, knocking him out.
“Is this him?” An officer asked.
“That’s Snowfall without a doubt, take him to the prison. We’ve got ourselves a big catch, great job team.” That was all Snowfall could hear before blacking out. The mission has already started, he was now a prisoner, a dangerous one at that. ‘The hell happened…?’ Snowfall opened his eyes, he was currently seated and chained up on the ground alongside sixty other prisoners. The only difference was that Snowfall was forced to wear a muzzle, considering that there have been reports of him using his teeth to attack.
“I see you are all awake now. In case you’re wondering where you are, you’re in the Multiverse Prison, the most secure place in all universes. If you attempt to escape this prison, your chains will tighten until you come back. How is this a security measure? Well, the chains are placed on the neck, limbs, abdomen, ankles, wrists, and wings if a prisoner has them. If you decide not to come back, it will continue to tighten until you are no longer in one piece.” It was clearly the warden speaking to the prisoners, he had a strong sense of ruthlessness towards these lowly criminals.
“You will work during the morning and eat once every afternoon. Solitary confinement will be given if one decides to get into a fight, resist the officers, or get caught stealing from guards and officers. Each of you will share a cell with another prisoner, try not to kill each other. Other than that, you are dismissed to go and get your assigned number and cell. Good luck.” The tall man stood there, carefully accessing his new prisoners, taking a mental note of who to be most cautious of.
Snowfall followed the line of prisoners, leading up to the officers who imprinted a number on the arm of the inmate.
“Arm. 019378, remember that.” A male guard used extremely hot iron to make sure the number would not go away. Of course, being burnt hurts, but it’s not like Snowfall hasn’t been burnt before.
“Go straight, that will be the officer who watches over everyone on your floor.” Snowfall walked in the direction he was instructed to go.
“ALRIGHT! LISTEN UP!” An awfully familiar voice shouted out. Though, it was just the officer that had the responsibility of Snowfall’s floor. ‘No… it’s not anybody I know.’ He thought there was no way he could know this officer. Afterall, he’s never encountered Multiverse Prison officers.
“My name is Miyu Takahashi, you will obey my commands and behave. Act out and I’ll make sure you get a punishment. Now follow me.” Yup, it was just who Snowfall thought she was. A childhood friend, but now an enemy.
Snowfall simply stood there as Miyu called out the numbers, deep in thought.
“019378?! Are you even listening?” Miyu poked Snowfall’s head, knocking him out of his thoughts.
“Oh. Sorry, ma’am. I zoned out.”
“Make sure it doesn’t happen… again.” She looked closely at Snowfall, something seemed familiar.
“Which cell will I be assigned to, ma’am?” Snowfall broke the silence, snapping her back to reality.
“Ehm, sorry about that… I-I mean cell A-68 right there.” She stumbled over her words. Snowfall simply ignored the situation. He didn’t have time to catch up with old friends, he had a mission to complete. A boss to please. Co-workers who are relying on him to eliminate their biggest obstacle.
