"Looks like Incheon really is in a terrible condition," said Park Min-young.
"Excuse me, sir. Would you like tea or coffee?"
"Coffee please"
"Right away sir"
"How much longer will it take for this train to reach Incheon?"
"I don't know, but I think it will take another hour, sir."
"I see."
"Sir here's your coffee."
"Ahh thank you very much."
Park Min-young takes the coffee cup and begins to sniff it. "Ahh, there is nothing better than a nice cup of coffee in the afternoon." He then takes a sip and immediately begins coughing and spills some of his coffee. "Holy shit! That is one hot coffee."
Meanwhile in the Incheon Police Agency.
Officer Dae-jung throws a glass across the room in anger which shatters into pieces. "THERE IS NOT A SINGLE DAY WHERE THESE ASSHOLES DON'T CAUSE AN INCIDENT. DO THEY THINK WE POLICE OFFICERS ARE A JOKE?!!"
Officer Hwan sighs, "Is he at it again?"
"Yep," says Officer Ji-won.
"Well, I can't blame him. We hardly ever get time to sleep these days cuz of all these criminals roaming around the streets. Sometimes I think why I even joined the police in the first place?" said Hwan.
"Isn't the answer obvious Hwan?" said Captain Nam-gil.
"Ah! Captain! I didn't see you there." Everyone in the room immediately gave a salute to Captain Nam-gil. Pointing towards Dae-Jung, Nam-gil said, "I can see that you are back to breaking glasses again." Dae-jung immediately puts down the second glass he was holding.
"I'm very sorry sir."
Captain Nam-gil takes a deep breath and says, "As a law enforcement officer, my fundamental duty is to serve the community; to safeguard lives and property; to protect the innocent against deception, the weak against oppression or intimidation, and the peaceful against violence or disorder; and to respect the constitutional rights of all to liberty, equality, and justice. I understand that our work isn't easy. We police officers put our lives on the line for the citizens every day. We have a tough job to do to maintain public safety and hold accountable those who break the law."
All the officers stood there speechless. "Our jobs are indeed very stressful. It's hard. But if we don't do it, who will?"
Everyone stood there in silence.
" WHO WILL???" Captain Nam-gil shouted.
"WE WILL!!!"
"Good."
All the officers stood there with admiration toward that captain. Their eyes were different this time, filled with energy and pride.
"Damn. . .that was. . . . . . amazing," said Ji-won.
"Well he isn't the captain for no reason," said Officer Hwan.
Motivation for a police career, normal self-assertiveness, emotional stability under stress, and sensitivity towards minority groups. Nam-gil had all these qualities of a police officer. Aside from these, he was a great captain as well. "Even the Chief speaks highly of him. He's like a role model to us officers." Hwan added.
Captain Nam-gil quickly changes the conversation, " Anyway I have news for all of you." Everyone stopped talking and looked toward the captain.
"The first news is that the investigation for the Dongjak Bridge bomb-blasting which took place this morning will not be carried out by our team, instead Team B will be carrying out the investigation. So consider yourselves lucky."
"LESSSS GOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Dae-jung screamed joyfully as if he had won a gold medal in the Olympics. Everyone stared at him with awkwardness.
"I'm not done talking Dae-jung."
"Oh! I'm extremely sorry captain."
"The second news is that tomorrow there will be a new officer from Seoul who will be joining our Serious Crimes Unit Team A. Now I want all of you to show him the exact amount of respect you show me because he and I share the same rank. Any questions?"
Several hands rose up in the air.
"Okay, one by one. Ji-won, you can go first."
"Sir, why is that officer coming to Incheon? I mean this place is the worst nightmare for any police officer. Out of all the places in South Korea, why would he transfer here?"
Everyone began discussing the same question. It was in fact the question everyone wanted to ask. However, this wasn't very surprising to Captain Nam-gil.
"SILENCE!" Nam-gil ordered. "I know this is very confusing. But I don't have the answer to that question either. We can only know when we meet him tomorrow Is that understood?"
"YES SIR!"
"Are there any more questions?"
This time there was only one hand that rose up. Everyone turned to look at the officer who raised his hand and they were in fact very surprised. It was Do-yun. Whenever he asked a question it was never a good thing.
"Yes Do-yun, what's your question?" asked Captain Nam-gil.
"Is he handsome?"
"I-I...I don't know Do-yun...I don't know."
"And is h-"
"I DON'T KNOW DO-YUN!!!"
"Holy hell! Even Captain Nam-gil can lose his cool at times," said Ji-won.
Well of course Nam-gil would lose his cool. After all, it was Do-yun who asked the question. In the entire police department, Do-yun was very popular for asking useless questions.
"Anyway, that's all I wanted to sa-"
An Officer barged into the room with a very distressed and tired look as if he had just run a marathon.
"Sir...We...We have an emergency...A body was found."
