After listening to what Do-yun said, Nam-gil ordered everyone to go to the backyard immediately. In a few minutes, all the officers arrived at the backyard. Nam-gil was thunderstruck after seeing the body. All the officers were also pretty shocked. It wasn't a body of a human.
Clenching his fists in anger, Dae-jung said, "How can someone do this to a dog?"
Chan-yeol arrived at the scene and immediately began examining the body. Nam-gil noticed a collar around the dog's neck.
"This dog belongs to someone," Nam-gil claimed.
"There seem to be no physical injuries. I think the cause of death was something internal," said Chan-yeol.
"It could also be old age right?" asked Ji-won.
"That's not possible. The dog is a Golden Retriever. By its size, I can say it's not that old yet," said Chan-yeol.
"It looks big to me. How can you say that it's not that old yet?"
"I once had a Golden Retriever."
"You had a pet?! I never knew that."
"We can talk about that later Ji-wo-"
"HEY! YOU CAN'T GO THERE!" an officer screamed. Nam-gil turned around to see what happened. A woman was running toward him. She held a mic in her hand. She stopped immediately after seeing the dog's body. She then turned to face Nam-gil and began to introduce herself. "I'm Kim Ji-Eun from IN-TV. I have a few questions regarding... "
Nam-gil didn't wait for her to finish her sentence. "Mam, this area is off limits right now. Please try to understand. Your questions can wait. We are currently very busy right now,"
"How does the media arrive so fast?" asked Dae-jung.
Nam-gil ordered one of his officers to take her away. However, Ji-Eun resisted, " Please sir, I just need a few minutes of your time. It's just a few questions!"
"As I said, your questions can wait."
When the officer began to use more force to take her away, Ji-Eun grabbed him by his collar and flipped him over to the ground.
"WHAT THE-"
"DON'T. TOUCH. ME."
Nam-gil, Dae-jung, and Ji-won were utterly dumbfounded at this sight. Hwan was confused about how a woman could flip a man who was almost twice the size of her body over to the ground.
"For your information, I have a black belt in Judo," Ji-Eun claimed. "I'm not leaving until you answer my questions."
Nam-gil ordered Dae-jung and Ji-won to help the fellow officer on the ground. The two officers charged in to help but it was useless. Ji-Eun flipped both of them to the ground. It was almost pitiful to watch.
Do-yun began laughing, "You guys can't even handle a little girl?"
"What did you just call me?! A little girl?!" Ji-Eun argued. "WELL LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT THIS LITTLE GIRL CAN DO!"
"Jeez! Talk about being short-tempered!"
Ji-Eun clenched her fist and charged toward Do-yun to punch him in the face. Suddenly, her hand was grabbed by someone from behind, therefore restricting her punch. Ji-Eun turned back to see who it was.
"Great! Just great! This day couldn't get any worse," Nam-gil complained.
There stood a man who looked like he was in his twenties, wearing a black jacket and jeans. A cold pair of eyes staring at Ji-Eun sent chills down her spine. It was as if those eyes were telling her to move aside. Ji-Eun immediately put her hand down and moved aside. The man began walking toward the body of the dog. Nam-gil tried to stop him from going any further. "Sir, this place is off limits..." However, the man just walked past Nam-gil as if he never even existed. He walked toward Chan-yeol and said, "Give me a brief report of the situation."
"Uhhh..."
The man sighed, "Who's the senior officer over here?"
Hwan got pissed off at his attitude and asked, "Sir! May I ask who you are?"
"Ahhh... forgive me. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Park Min-young. I'm a transfer officer from Seoul. I was assigned to the Serious Crimes Unit team A. I just arrived at Incheon. The train station is not too far away from here. I was on my way to my new house when I saw a huge crowd at the front gate. So I decided to check it out. Now may I know who the senior officer is here?"
"Hey...Dae-jung? Could that guy possibly be..."
"Yep!... I think that's him."
All the officers immediately gave a salute to Min-young. Nam-gil walked up to Min-young and said, "That would be me. The name's Nam-gil. I'm the captain of the Serious Crimes Unit team A. Nice to meet you."
"Ahh... What a coincidence?! I apologize for my rude behavior earlier."
"It's fine. I'll let it slide since it is your first day here."
The two officers shook hands together. Nam-gil gave Min-young a brief description of the situation and gave him a pair of gloves. Min-young began to closely observe the body of the dog.
"Do you need a mask?" asked Nam-gil.
"I've been through worse."
"Very well then."
"There are no visible physical injuries, so it's probably something internal. It's not old age either," said Chan-yeol.
"Hmmm...The dog belongs to someone," said Min-young. "Anything else?"
"By the smell, I can say that the corpse is about a month old."
"Where is the other body?"
"Follow me," said Nam-gil.
Min-young was led into the room where the female corpse was. He then began observing the body. "Has the victim been identified?"
"We're still working on it," said Hwan. Dae-jung folded his arms and rubbed his chin.
"Want to say something Dae-jung?" asked Ji-won.
"For some reason, I feel like I have seen this woman somewhere."
"Try to remember then,"
"Ohhhhh, why didn't I think of that? What do you think I'm doing dumbass?!"
Min-young rubbed his chin and asked, "When was the time of death?"
"About twenty-six hours ago," Chan-yeol claimed.
"Cause of death?"
"It looks like rape to me," said Nam-gil.
"How are you so sure?"
"Doesn't it look like rape to you? Plus, there are marks on her hand that show that she was tied to something when the deed was done."
"That's not enough evidence to confirm that it's rape."
Min-young began to look around the room as if he was searching for something. He then began to search the cupboards and drawers and then went on to search the entire house. All the officers were puzzled and curious. What was Min-young searching for? After going through the entire house he finally went to the doorstep and began searching the shoe rack where he only found few pairs of sneakers and Chelsea boots.
Out of curiosity, Nam-Gil asked, "What are you searching for?"
"Does any of you know whose house this is?" asked Min-young. "And I don't think this is rape."
All the officers looked at each other and began discussing their opinions. Min-young had asked a pretty valid question. None of the officers even thought of finding out whose house this was. However, they were puzzled at Min-young's last statement.
"On basis of what are you saying that this is not rape?" asked Nam-gil.
"Let me show you."
Everyone followed Min-young back into the room where the female corpse was. Min-young then asked, "Firstly, does anyone know where the clothes of the deceased are?" All the officers looked at Min-young with a very surprised expression. He had once again asked a very valid question.
"Secondly, where is the instrument that was used to tie the deceased's hands? And there are no signs of struggle on the body of the deceased. The bed sheet also looks very clean. That's why I don't think this is rape. By the way it looks, can't it be said that the deceased was engaged in sexual activity before she died?"
"Then how can you explain the marks on her hands?" asked Nam-gil.
"Do you know what a kink is?"
"Ah!...I see...Well I won't argue with that then."
Everyone were surprised at Min-young's on sight reasoning skills. "Damn...The knew guy has got some skills," Ji-won whispered.
"Is there anything else you can say?" asked Nam-gil.
"I can also confirm that this is not the house of the deceased," Min-young claimed.
"How so?"
"Well when I went through the entire house, I didn't find any clothes belonging to women. Nor did I find any things that women use like makeup items and accessories."
"What if the deceased was invited here and then the perpetrator performed the deed and ran a away?" asked Do-yun.
"Why would he run away with the clothes and shoes of the deceased?"
"Ahh...that makes sense."
"Wait what do you mean by shoes?" asked Hwan.
"Ahh yes, the shoes of the deceased are also missing," Min-young claimed. "So based on all of these clues, I can confidently say that the body was dumped here." All the officers agreed with Min-young.
"Impressive!" said Chan-yeol.
"However, there are still a lot of questions that need to answered. Who is this woman? Whose house is this? The cause of death? What relation does the dog have with this? And yes, where is the person who reported this?"
All the officers stood there clueless. Due to all the chaos in the beginning they forgot to find the person who reported the case. "Oh for god's sake, does anyone here even know how to investigate a case properly?!" Min-young exclaimed. Nam-gil was ashamed of his poor performance.
"Anyway, the forensic team can take the bodies away now," said Min-young. "Let's head to the police station now. We can discuss the details properly there." Nam-gil agreed with Min-young and gave a nod to the forensic team. Meanwhile everyone forgot that Ji-Eun was still standing there and observing everything that was going on.
Min-young noticed her and quickly grabbed the handcuff on Nam-gil's duty belt and walked up to Ji-Eun and cuffed her hands.
"HEY! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!"
"You are under arrest for assaulting an on-duty police officer."
