Looking at her fully he said, “Listen Persephane, I also had a meeting with your family earlier today. I wanted to tell you about my meeting with them right after it happened, but I wanted to do it in a more calm and relaxed setting, like at my place, where we could sit and talk in private; once I was done with the meeting it was already so late in the day. So, I decided to go home, have something to eat, wash up, and then once I was done washing up, I immediately fell asleep. Now seeing you like this, I feel bad about not coming to you sooner to let you know about my meeting with them. Had I known that this was going to happen I would have gone to you right away to discuss it with you, instead of stopping off at home to do all that other stuff. I am sorry for not prioritizing you.”

Persephane was stunned to hear that he also had a meeting with her family, and it made her lift her head and turn to face him and meet his gaze. Unfortunately, her look of shock was not recognizable on her dragon face. Caijoonyung tried his hardest to meet her gaze, but it was proving to be much more difficult trying to look into her eyes while she was in her dragon form. He started to get a headache from craning his neck and trying to maintain eye contact with her giant dragon head, which was extremely difficult to do despite her being right there in front of him.
#
Caijoonyung asked her, “Hey Persephane, do you think that you could return to your regular form? I am having a hard time trying to meet your gaze directly and it is starting to give me a headache and a stiff neck.”
#
After asking her to do that for him Caijoonyung started to feel bashful which made him blush slightly. Persephane didn’t realize that being in dragon form while talking with Caijoonyung would be challenging for him physically. She felt a bit embarrassed that this hadn’t occurred to her until just now. She nodded and told him that she would change into something easier for him to talk to. Persephane began to shapeshift into an anthropomorphic version of her dragon form, which brought her size down to something closer to his size, only slightly taller than him by a couple of inches.
Upon seeing this version of her dragon form, he was so taken aback, that he couldn’t hide the look of awe on his face. He was completely captivated by her stunning beauty and even more shocked with himself for having such lascivious thoughts for a non-human form. When Persephane saw this, she gave a small smirk and blushed from the heat in the look that he was giving her.
#
She turned and asked him, “What is with that look on your face Commander Caijoonyung? It’s making me feel very self-conscious right now.”
#
The heat in his stare grew more intense the longer he stared at her. His eyes roamed over her body, assessing every nook and cranny; taking it all in and committing it to his memory. He didn’t want to let this memory of how her body seemed to glisten in the dim light of the full moon go to waste. Persephane looked stunning in his eyes, she had a look to her that was beyond anything he had ever seen before. He loved how large, tight, and supple her breasts were. He enjoyed looking at all her curves, from the inverted triangular shape of her upper body to the sensual curves of her hips, giving her that gorgeous hourglass shape. Even with her sitting down, he could tell that she had nicely shaped legs and length that went on for days. Since transforming into this new form, she did not have clothing that covered her completely, except a halter top and a small bit of cloth that didn’t hide her nether region well. It was impeding his ability to get a good look at her body. Caijoonyung was having a difficult time hiding his body’s reaction to seeing her like that.
Caijoonyung turned his back to her so that she could not see him adjust himself and just how tight his pants became from the erection he was sporting due to seeing her barely covered up by small pieces of cloth. This was definitely not one of his proudest moments and he had to sit down quickly before Persephane was able to figure out what was happening. Now that they were both sitting down again, Persephane looked at him and decided that she would test the waters and tell him about what was discussed in the meeting to see how well he would handle it.
#
“Going back to what I mentioned about the meeting I had with my relatives, I hope that you’ll understand why I am hesitant to tell you about what was discussed during the meeting. I want you to know that I am scared to tell you everything because I don’t know how you will react once you hear everything. I am afraid that you will not feel the same way I do. Can you promise me that you will hear me out to the very end before you say anything?”
#
Without even thinking about it, Caijoonyung gave Persephane his word that he would not interrupt and listen to her to the end. Persephane sighed in relief and told him everything about the meeting, leaving nothing out. After Persephane was done telling Caijoonyung everything, she stared at him, searching for some kind of hint as to what was going through his mind and hoping to not find any kind of negative reaction. However, his face gave no hints or clues as to what was going through his mind. She couldn’t tell if he was stunned, angry, or didn’t understand what she had just told him. Even though it was giving her major anxiety waiting for him to respond, she sat there waiting, giving him some time to process everything. Caijoonyung sat there frozen, staring at her or off into space; she wasn’t sure which. Admittedly Persephane knew it was a lot to take in, so it’s understandable for him to need time to properly think things through.
After what seemed to be an eternity, Caijoonyung regained his composure and cleared his throat a few times, feeling like he had cotton in his mouth, or like a desert begging for some water to help rehydrate the barren land. Unable to get his mouth to make saliva, he leaned over to scoop up some water from the lake, which he then swished around and spit out. He wiped away some water that had dripped down his chin. When he leaned back to a sitting position, he cleared his throat again and turned to look at Persephane, not sure where he should begin. His thoughts were still scattered about in his head, and once he felt ready to speak, he ended up incomprehensibly word-vomiting his thoughts.
#
“Why did they give you tea and snacks in a cushy room while I had to meet your whole family in a lab, practically naked, and cold?! That doesn’t seem very fair. Why wasn’t I offered any type of refreshments?! Why didn’t they poke and prod you? I mean I get that you are their family and all, but come on, make things equal or close to it. Do you know how embarrassing it was to be there half-naked in front of complete strangers?! Not just strangers, but your parents, aunts, and uncles. That is not how I had planned to meet your family. Oh, and while we are on the topic of mates and imprinting, why didn’t they tell me about something that important? Are they trying to purposely make things difficult? Honestly, this type of behavior makes me think they don’t like me. I don’t see how that would be possible since I haven’t done anything wrong. Were they just trying to do a marriage interview or something? If that was the case, then why the heck was I naked?!”
#
Once he was done calming down from his wild ranting, he looked at Persephane to see that her eyes were wide with shock. Then after a moment of clarity, he realized what ridiculous nonsense had just spewed from his mouth, and his face turned beet red all the way up to the tips of his ears.
#
Trying to recover from this travesty, he cleared his throat again, “Ahem. Excuse me. I'm not sure what that was all about, but could you please forget my momentary descent into madness, please? I would appreciate it. I don’t want your view of me as the strong and ever-reliable Commander of the troops to be tarnished,” he said while he bashfully blushed and ran his fingers through his hair.
#
Persephane turned her face away from him, so she could try and hide her smile and stifle her laughter at how silly he was when he was ranting. It was astonishing to see that someone as strong and brilliant as him, could also make a cute mistake like that. After a few minutes, Persephane couldn’t hold back her laughter anymore and ended up bursting out laughing so hard that she ended up crying. Persephane didn’t mean to laugh at his expense, but couldn’t help it since she loved how cute he was. Caijoonyung pouted and was kind of upset about her laughing at his expense, but then he let it go with a shrug of his shoulders. He was happy that by making a complete fool of himself, he was able to get her to smile and laugh, even if it was at his own expense. He loved her smile. It was one of the many features he loved about her because whenever she smiled, it could draw a smile from him too.
#
“Thank you for making me laugh. I didn’t realize how badly I needed that. I know that it wasn’t your intention but thank you either way. Although I didn’t mean to laugh at your expense, you were just so cute that I couldn’t help myself. I feel much better,” Persephane said as she wiped away some tears trapped in her lashes.
“You’re welcome. I’m glad that I could be of help. Well anyway, back to the topic at hand. Now that I can think more clearly, I wanted to ask you about that imprinting thing that you mentioned. You said that this process is only possible if both parties involved agree to it mutually without any force, but somehow, I got the impression that there is more to it. Is there something about it that you aren’t telling me?” Caijoonyung asked Persephane.
Persephane turned away again because she couldn’t meet his gaze, “Yes there is.”
“Are you going to tell me what it is, or should I guess?”
“It’s not like I don’t want to tell you, it’s just that I’m scared to tell you.”
“But why would you be scared to tell me? Is it something bad or dangerous?”
“No, it’s nothing like that I promise. Fine...haaa... I will tell you, but please I need you to understand that I’m not the one who decided this. All I know is that this is what is necessary for it to work properly and for it to be activated.”
“Okay, well if that’s the case then everything should be fine. I mean since you said that it isn’t anything bad or dangerous. But if you are worried about going through with it, that is something we can discuss so we are both comfortable with it. Does that sound reasonable?”
#
Persephane thought about it, and going off of what he said it sounded like it would be alright to tell him everything. She is worried about confessing her true feelings to him since there haven’t been any indicators that they have the same mutual feelings. This was not how she envisioned things would go down, she pictured telling him in a more romantic setting while the vibe was good, and the mood was just right. There was no way around it at this point. Persephane mentally prepared herself and took a deep breath before telling him about her feelings and about how it is for the imprinting process.
#
Persephane let out a deep breath and said, “The part of the imprinting process that I was worried about telling you is that not only does everything need to be mutual, but there have to be feelings of love as well. Having true feelings of love is essential for the entire process to work from start to finish. If there are no feelings of love involved when it begins, then it will not start; and that is the better worst-case scenario. However, if it’s forced, then there are severe consequences for the aggressor, usually leading to death and total soul erasure. My family warned me about it because they didn't want any of those scenarios to happen to me. There is an upside to all of this, not only will it help me build a strong bond with my knight which will be useful when the time comes to fight in actual combat, but both of our stats will also increase drastically and make us synced with each other. So, my family didn’t outright say that I was required to imprint with my chosen knight, but the way that they talked about it sounded like it might be something necessary later in the future,” Persephane said fidgeting under the pressure of his gaze.
“So, what you’re telling me is that the imprint can only be done and completed if both parties involved are in love? Is that what you are saying?” Caijoonyung said while giving it serious thought and no judgment.
She nodded in agreement, “That is precisely what they said. And without both parties feeling mutually in love then the process will ultimately fail.”
“Alright, so then let me ask you, was the reason you were in such distress because you were thinking about this in terms of us, and worried about whether or not I have feelings for you and if those feelings are of love and if so, are they true feelings love?” Caijoonyung asked her earnestly showing her that he was not bothered by the direction of their conversation.
#
Persephane tried to hide and mask her anxiety while she was waiting for him to respond to this because that was exactly the thing she was worried about. It’s taken her quite some time to realize that those feelings she had been feeling whenever she was around him were because she had already fallen for him. So of course, it’s only natural that she is worried about whether the Commander feels the same way about her as she does about him. Persephane continued to avert her gaze. She just couldn’t bring herself to look into his eyes and see that she had been mistaken this entire time and that he didn’t have any feelings for her, let alone feelings of love. It would break her heart.
