“Are you the pet Duke Leizer bought this time?”
Mira Carlisle looked up at the curly-haired woman in the purple uniform standing before her, blinking her big eyes as if she didn't understand. Who was she? The man's lover? The way she looked at her... seemed very unfriendly.
One troublemaker had just left, and now another one appeared so quickly.
Angela Kent looked down at the girl curled up on the sofa. Her thin, tattered gauze dress and her disheveled black hair draped over her shoulders made her look like a homeless little beggar. But annoyingly, none of this diminished the girl's stunning beauty. Her skin was glowing white, her features were delicate and lively, and when she blinked, the small black mole at the corner of her eye seemed to move, blending purity with seduction.
And just now, Duke Leizer had actually carried her inside! As Leizer's personal steward for years, Angela had never even touched his hand, let alone had any other physical contact.
“There are plenty of beautiful women. What makes you worth the heavy sum Duke Leizer paid for you?”
Angela's jealousy flared as she mocked, “Don't even dream that Duke Leizer would let you into his bed. What if you're beautiful? You're just a monster with merfolk blood. You're not even human!”
The last two sentences made Mira Carlisle's deep green eyes flash coldly.
“Get up. It's time to eat!” Angela commanded coldly.
Mira Carlisle, pretending to be obedient, stood up while biting her finger, concealing the dark glint in her eyes as she followed Angela Kent.
Seeing Mira's actions, Angela was even more convinced that she didn't understand human language, and her eyes were filled with even more contempt. Ha, just a brainless idiot, yet she thinks she can latch onto Duke Leizer?
Angela pushed Mira into a room within the aircraft. Inside were various cages of all sizes, housing lions, cheetahs, red foxes, hyenas, and more.
Mira Carlisle's face went black. This man certainly had unique hobbies, raising so many animals, each more dangerous than the last! Truly... a complete pervert.
“Take a good look. This is your cage. You'll be treated the same as these animals.” Angela pointed to a large, pure gold cage in a sarcastic tone.
Mira noticed that even the cushion inside the cage was tiger-striped, and without touching it, she could tell it was made of expensive material. Clearly, this was prepared for the tiger she accidentally killed, and she was now taking its place.
It looked far more luxurious than the glass box she slept in at the auction house.
“Monster, what are you staring at? Get in there quickly!”
Angela Kent pushed her again. As Mira walked towards the cage, Angela discreetly used her high-heeled shoe to unhook the latch on the red fox's cage.
The naturally fierce red fox immediately emerged, sniffing around the carpet before suddenly charging at Mira Carlisle—
Angela smirked, expecting to see Mira bitten and writhing on the ground—
But then, Mira simply lowered her head, looking at the little creature aggressively clinging to her with her emerald eyes.
Hmm, it was quite plump. It seemed the man was feeding it well.
The red fox clung to Mira's waist with its front paws, baring its teeth at her menacingly!
Angela sneered, eager to see Mira humiliated and in pain—
But to her shock, Mira raised her hand, patted the red fox on the head, and even grabbed its little ear, pinching it mercilessly. Far from getting angry, the red fox's ferocious demeanor instantly dissipated. It shrank back its head and began to lick the back of Mira's hand, whining softly, a clear sign of submission.
What... what was happening?
Angela couldn't believe her eyes. She thought she must be seeing things! How could this be? Could she actually tame beasts? No, impossible!
"You..."
Before Angela could say anything, Mira suddenly looked over, flashing a sweet smile and uttering a series of strange, unheard sounds. The red fox, as if receiving a command, turned and leaped at Angela!
Angela screamed in terror, trying to run, but how could she outrun the red fox? Her foot twisted, and the fox pounced on her, biting her arm fiercely, blood spurting out.
“Ahhh—”
Angela screamed in horror, trying to kick the fox off, but her struggle only made the fox bite down harder.
"Help! Save me! Please—"
Mira stood to the side, looking down at her, her gaze icy and contemptuous. As Angela looked at her in panic, Mira gave her a sweet smile, still exuding an innocent, harmless demeanor. Only the little black mole at the corner of her eye hinted at her sly amusement.
Not going to die, so why scream for help? How undignified. Having such a good heart yet being so cowardly was really disappointing.
At this moment, the cabin door was opened by Paulin Ricardo, and a tall, handsome man walked in.
“Who's screaming and wailing like a lunatic?” Leizer Mill asked coldly, frowning as his dark eyes swept over Angela, who was being bitten by the red fox.
Paulin Ricardo quickly stepped forward, pulling out a stun stick. The red fox, sensing danger, immediately bolted back to its cage and even closed the door with its little paw.
Paulin Ricardo called for the accompanying doctor, who hurriedly gave Angela an emergency injection and bandaged her wound.
Angela had never been so humiliated in front of Leizer before. Her makeup was ruined, her hair a mess; she looked utterly disheveled!
She had intended to humiliate Mira, but it backfired on her!
Angela was furious and anxious, her face streaked with tears, as she cried out, “Duke Leizer...”
Leizer's expression remained indifferent as he shifted his gaze from her to Mira Carlisle.
Mira didn't show any particular emotion, maintaining her composure.
Then Leizer asked in a tone that was hard to decipher, “Why didn't the red fox bite you?”
Hmph, would it dare?
Mira blinked her big eyes at him, pretending not to understand human language, but her facial expressions were vivid, like a mischievous child caught red-handed—
After all, she hadn't been behaving docilely at the auction, so there was no need to start now. It would only arouse the suspicions of this astute man. Angela had given her the perfect opportunity to retaliate sharply, reinforcing her "troublemaker" persona and killing two birds with one stone.
Hearing Leizer's question, Angela immediately seized the chance to accuse, “Duke Leizer, I brought her into this room as per your instructions to arrange her cage. But the red fox suddenly got out... She said something to it, and then it attacked me!”
Leizer raised an eyebrow, picking out the key point, “She spoke to the red fox?”
“Yes, Duke Leizer!” Angela seized the opportunity, “She kept touching the red fox, and it listened to her for some reason... Duke Leizer, she's dangerous. What if she has other motives for getting close to you? My injury doesn't matter, but what if she intends to harm you?”
She kept touching the red fox?
Touching? How?
Leizer suddenly reached out and pinched Mira's cheek, forcing her to look at him.
“Seducing men isn't enough; now you're seducing animals?” Leizer's dark eyes glinted coldly as he stared at her face, a face capable of enchanting anything. He sneered, “Not surprising. With half an animal's blood in you, you're certainly the prettiest in the animal world.”
Angela: “…”
Mira: “…”
This man's logic was more twisted than a mountain road.
And why did she feel like he had just insulted her in a roundabout way?
