After the revelation from former king Alastair, Aurelius invited Mira to join his family for a light lunch.
Her stomach audibly grumbled, rumbling with hunger. "Well, I suppose my stomach agrees," she joked, eliciting a chuckle from the king.
As they made light discussions over their meal, a guard donned in black armor interrupted them. Speaking in hushed tones to the king, he then excused himself once he relayed the message.
The king explained to Mira, and only to her, that news had arrived that a fire dragon's egg was scheduled to be auctioned in the black market later that day.
Angered by this news, Mira's eyes widened in disbelief.
The fire dragons were one of the four main dragon clans that protected the four main fairy clans, making them sacred beings. The very idea of a dragon egg being sold was blasphemy.
Rushing to save the little one, she stood up, excusing herself without another word. Once she was out of the castle, she removed her cloak, unfurling her wings to hurry and save the little one.
She flew over the castle town, searching for traces of the little dragon's magic, but since it had yet to be born, there was little hope of finding it with such low available mana.
As she searched, Mira turned her head as she suddenly felt an ominous wave of hatred coming from the west of the city, in the direction of the fire dragon's territory.
The mother dragon was coming, and she might destroy the city to find her little one if Mira didn't calm her down first.
Determined to save the lives of the townspeople from the dragon's wrath, Mira raced to meet the mother dragon before she could unleash her fury upon the city.
Mira stood before the furious fire dragon, blocking her path to the city of Avaloria.
The dragon's eyes blazed with anger, warning Mira to move aside or face regrettable consequences. But Mira stood her ground, trying to reason with the enraged beast.
"Please, give me some time," Mira implored, "I can find the egg myself. Spare the town, I beg of you."
The dragon hesitated, her fiery breaths slowing as she considered Mira's offer.
She couldn't refuse a plea from a fairy, especially not from who she assumed was the last of the forest fairies.
With a reluctant nod and a nervous exhale, the dragon agreed, allowing Mira to search for her precious egg.
Mira scoured the shadowy corners of Avaloria until she finally found the egg nestled in a carriage, guarded by a burly man and a cunning-looking small but round fellow.
The men spoke in hushed tones, talking about the schedule for the auction later that day. It seemed that Mira had miraculously discovered not only the dragon's egg but also the manager of the underground auction house.
Using her magic, Mira swiftly incapacitated them and secured the egg, binding the men with a magical rope before sending their carriage on its way to the prison.
Returning to the mother, Mira reunited her with her precious egg. The dragon's eyes softened with gratitude as she thanked Mira, her voice echoing with relief and joy.
In gratitude, the fire dragon invited Mira to her home, offering her a place to stay among the fire dragons as she knew Mira's home had been destroyed in the attack 200 years beforehand.
Grateful but mindful of her own nature, Mira politely declined the offer, citing the discomfort being so far away from her home would be, no matter the state it was in.
Instead, she accepted the promise of a meal the next day.
They share a moment of peace and camaraderie before bidding each other farewell, with Mira continuing on her way back to the castle, a glimmer of bittersweet emotions kindling in her heart.
Elsewhere, the manager's carriage is stopped in front of the prison. Mira left the guards there a little gift, it seems.
The magical rope wrapped around each of them was spelled to make the men reveal their truths, and would not release them until they spilled everything illegal they knew.
Screams of frustration could be heard from beyond the prison walls that day, followed by news in the papers the next day of the auction being dissolved and all involved caught and arrested.
It was a good day to not be chaotic/evil people.
