"… hm…?" Mine mumbled, feeling dizzy and heavy.
He blinked until his eyes got accustomed to the lack of light in that room. Its darkness was oppressive, and he couldn't see a thing, nor even his own hand near his face.
I slept! Mine gasped, looking around at nowhere beyond the suffocating darkness.
"It's ok," a deep familiar voice whispered close to him. He was so close Mine felt the drums on the person's chest against his and their warm breath.
Mine looked up, but as expected he saw nothing but black with dots of miasma floating in the air. The person approached Mine's face and pressed cheek against cheek, so Mine could feel they were really there. The faint and familiar Jasmine scent made Mine's senses sharpen. It could be an illusion after all, and that demon would be tricking him into using his friend's details to trick Mine and-
"I'm not Agarath, don't worry," the person voiced lowly as if he had just read his mind. "Feel my essence if you're doubting it," he took Mine's hand and placed it where it should be on his chest.
Mine felt unsure. His hand was sweaty and cold, but he pressed its palm on the person's warm chest and the back of his hand glowed the diamond symbol. It faintly illuminated its surroundings, and as the other symbols slowly started glowing, more and more pieces of the person's image were being illuminated as well as Mine himself.
His body was covered in those symbols from head to toe, making his silhouette clear and defined even below the clothes. In front of him, a familiar person was looking at him with gentle and serene eyes. Despite his serious pose, his cheeks were mildly blushed.
"Sorry to doubt you, Addai," Mine muttered, taking his hand away.
"Nah, that's fine. I'd do the same," Addai said, fixing his tie. "Mephistopheles turned off the mana candles because he heard a noise from the corridors ahead. You were sleeping so I had to take you… in my…" his voice slowly faded.
"What?" Mine looked at him, his body still glowing in the dark.
"…"
Mine slightly adjusted his body to wherever he was sitting and felt the surface different from the cold, hard floor. It was odd, indeed, it felt like a long, irregular pillow beneath him.
When his eyes went back down, he made a sudden move. He rolled a few meters away from Addai, not caring if his clothes got dirty with dirt or anything like that. He only stopped when he felt he was far enough.
His face burned, and his luminescent hair betrayed any emotion he wanted to hide. Most of his senses were hindered by such embarrassment and awkwardness that he couldn't feel the humidity in the air anymore, the chilly environment, or anything except his body burning up and his heart jumping.
He was sitting on Addai's lap!
But it wasn't simply sitting on him... He was well placed on Addai's lap! And with his legs open!
The position was very dubious (and with several interpretations)!
Why am I so affected?! Mine angrily pondered. Calm down Mine! You're not a teenager anymore!! All you did was sit on his lap, you've done worse things in your life!! Don't be too embarrassed!!
But he was, in fact, very embarrassed.
As more and more embarrassment waves crept on his skin, itching and burning it, the symbols all over his body turned from golden to pink, changing its style. He wanted to bury himself in a bottomless hole and stay there until this feeling faded. But hey, lucky them nobody felt something they shouldn't, and the surface kept being the same. So, no further harm (thankfully)!
As he was in his embarrassment spiral, he didn't dare check if Addai was going through the same. But when he heard rustling sounds, he raised his head to check what was happening, and Addai had vanished from where he once was.
Mine quickly stood up, and the symbols on his body changed as well as its colors, which turned from pink to orange.
"Addai?" Mine called, but no response back.
Instead, all the mana candles were lit again, and he looked at the source of a stomping sound followed by a grunt.
"Don't fret, it's just me," Mephistopheles greeted, dirty from someone else's blood. "If you're looking for His Grace… well…" he muffled a laughter.
Mine looked at the person beside Mephistopheles and it was no other than... Addai himself! Wait, why was he shielding himself behind the demon?
"What are you doin' there?" Mine asked, looking at Addai whose face was slightly pale.
"A spider," Mephistopheles said. "It was a spider. His Grace was terrified of such a cruel monster," he said, disappointed and muffling his laughter.
"...! >:(" Addai frowned and blushed wildly.
Mine blinked. Once, twice, three times. He looked at Addai, then to the poor dead spider not too far from him, smashed on the cold floor. He looked at Mephistopheles, who was two steps in front of Addai, holding his dear soul to keep from laughing and that was the last thread for Mine. The symbols all over his body faded, and he burst into a loud laughter.
He laughed so hard it turned into a wheezing, and he fell on the flooring, holding his stomach. Mephistopheles mildly chuckled, but soon gulped down his chuckle when Addai glared at him.
"A spider? Ha ha ha ha ha ha! No way!!!! Ha ha ha ha!!!!!" Mine wheezed.
"Stop laughing," Addai grumbled.
"You youngsters… When I was little, I used to chew those things like treats. Mrs. Lilith was wild too, but her Heir is so…" Mephistopheles chuckled sincerely and Addai glared at him again.
"Stop grumbling. Come here and take a seat," Mine patted the floor, and Addai kicked Mephistopheles before sitting beside Mine.
"Low move, Your Grace," Mephistopheles grumbled, massaging the sore spot Addai had kicked.
