===Canan===
She had to be crazy right? There was no other explantion as to why she would still want to go to rehearsal when not even ten minutes ago she was literally passed out in the driver seat of her car. She didn't even have enough time to lock her door before passing out otherwise there was absolutley no way I was going to get into that car.
She nearly gave me a heart attack when I had been on my way to the car and saw her laying half dead in her own across from me. Her face was a deathly pale and she was completley unconcious. I was concerned in all honesty.
I look over to her as she sits in my passenger seat a elbow on the door handle and her chin resting on her hand. She seemed okay now. Maybe she just needed a rest but even if this was the case I doubt it would last long. She was like a candle who's flame was flickering in and out.
I clear my throat. "Are you sure, your'e okay?"
Her eyes slide to me slow and concise. "I'm fine."
I peer at her for a moment, sucken in cheeks and bags under her eyes. There was no doubt that her sister could also see her dwindling. It may have been why she was formed a deal with Chris. Maybe Euterpe had some of her powers spill over to her sister mother did that for her favorite children to continue surviving. Those that weren't monogamous at least.
I clasp the steering wheel tighter. "You don't look okay."
She releases a long sigh. "So what should I do Canan since you're so concerned?"
I tilt my head side to side, I can't tell her to see a doctor there was no doctor on Earth that could save her from herself. "You should seek help." I finally conclude.
She makes a small hum noise. "You're right." She nods then looks at me. "I just can't seem to get the help I need."
I avoid looking at her. "And what help do you need."
She doesn't say anything but I understand what she means. She needs to make a deal but has no way of finding a good person to make a deal with. I'm not sure if the Muses had to be picky about who they choose for a deal but I understand mother would occasionlly signal out specific people to make deals with including taking into account their occupations but in my opinion it seems as if Erato wasn't doing that otherwise she would be more involved in the writing community or the chroir community not the music community. Or maybe she was looking for one.
"What classes are you taking?" I ask.
She appears surprised from the change of subject but answers anyways. "Ceramics, english writing, creative writing and trigonometry."
"Interesting set of classes."
She shrugs her shoulders. "I do the classes I want." She pauses and look back out the window. "I like to learn."
"Apparently playing the harp too."
She nods her head as we enter the parking lot and as soon as I park she lets herself out of the car and immediately heads to the concert hall.
I let out a soft sigh and lean back. "Wow thanks Canan for the ride. I'm just a stupid real life Goddess who's letting herself waste away to nothing. Also thanks for throwing water-" I pause from my sarcastic rant.
Was her shirt dry from the water I threw at her? I try to see her from my rearview mirrior but she already was inside.
She was a peculiar person who I kept having strange encounter with one would say this might be fate while I wondered if it was actually my mother at work here. She did have the power to increase chance encounters but I doubt she would do that to me now especially since she had given me an ultimatum.
I rub my eyebrows then remove my glasses to rub my eyes. Her livelihood really shouldn't have been my concern. I really shouldn't trying to get myself involved with the life she was leading but for some reason there was a part of me that was highly intrigued with what she was going to do with her dying self.
I blow a rasberry then quickly exit my car I had no time to ponder about this I had to go to rehearsal that was a higher priority.
I leave my car and hurry into the concert hall where Erato is already setting up her things. She was a person that I couldn't quite get a grasp on. Was she someone who cared for her family, was she someone who wanted to live, was she the person that found a reason to live. I really didn't know and it really shouldn't have been my concern, yet I was making it.
These thoughts circled through my head for almost all of rehearsel. I was so bombarded with all these ideas that when Erato began to play her solo I realized that practice was almost over.
Her hands strummed across the strings like clockwork, each one precise and sharp then slurred and uniformed. She was a professional. That much was the truth but at the same time she did have thousands of years to perfect her craft, there was no doubt that she was going to be good at her job.
She finished playing her final cord and I heard it just as the rest of the orchestra did, her string snapped and she let out a long sigh while the rest of us continued the piece.
She glared at the snapped string but continued playing anyways because that was all she could do until practice ended.
"Great job everyone," The conductor announces. "But I'm gonna ask the woodwind section to have a larger crescendo at bar forty." He continues flipping his sheet music. "And strings need a little more tonation for that clear harmonic sound were looking for at one-sixty four." He continues. "Can we try that with just strings for a moment."
He lifts his baton and directs them to play. They do but I can't focus because Erato isn't, she's too busy staring at her string like it's the most vexing thing in her life. I really do wonder what's going on in her head right now. Why was she so alarmingly sickly and yet so stern and stubborn. It was more than annoying.
Practice ended and even as almost everyone had finished cleaning up Erato was fixing her harp string with great ease.
I approach her as the pianist next to her moves the piano off stage and the tymphony is pushed by one of my fellow percussionist. "Need a hand." I mumble extending a hand.
She looks up to me and raises a single brow like she's unsure what to do at first and quite honestly she was already done fixing her string but then she slowly hands me the broken string like an unsure animal.
"Thank you." She mumbles standing from her chair to begin covering the harp.
I help put away her chair and then her music stand as she moves the instrument. She's watching me carefully like I'm a threat and to be honest, it makes sense considering this morning we were practically almost at each other's throat with her threat to tell people I was having student relations, which I wasn't. I was still mad about that but I couldn't help but to show some compassion to a dying Goddess.
"Why are you being nice?"
Because I'm showing compassion to a dying Goddess. I don't say that but I wish I could.
I clear my throat. "Because you passed out in your car."
She scoffs. "I didn't pass out in my car."
My mouth drops open as she walks down the corrdior to the stoage room. "I'm sorry but I think if I shake someone continously and the only way they wake up is by throwing water at them then they are passed out."
She's silent as we pass the double door to the music stoarge room. "How much water was it?"
I scoff now. "What does that have to do with anything."
She smirks and I catch on that she's trying to divert my attention to another topic.
"By the way," I add as she puts the harp away. "How did your shirt dry so fast?"
I think she ignores me as she walks to her locker and retrieves her belongings that's until she pulls a shirt from her bag. "I have two of the same shirts one was in my bag."
That's highly suspicious and I automatically know she's lying. If her powers are anything like my mother's then she has the ability to change her clothes on command and to conjure up small items.
"Thats," I look for the right word to describe her lie as she leaves the room. "Convient." I conclude following her.
"Is it?" She asks and it sounds genuine.
I hold the door open for her as we exit the building. "Yes." I watch as other performers load into their car and begin to drive out of the parking lot while others dwindle by the staircase and doorway making small talk to one another. "Quite a bit actually." Watching other reminds me that I'm more than likely driving her either to her house or back to her car.
"Can you drive me back to my car?" She asks like she was reading my mind.
I tilt my head side to side as I contiplate her question. "I don't know, are you okay now?" I ask as we approach my car.
She scoffs. "I'm fine." She opens the door and slides into the passenger seat as I open my own door. "I don't know why you think I'm not okay." She says putting on her seat belt.
I close my door. "I already told you why, at this point you're literally in denial."
She rolls her eyes. "Even if I was I'm pretty sure there's nothing you or any doctor on this Earth can do about it."
I turn the key in the ignition. "Why do you say that."
"Well," She falls silent and I look over to her.
Her head is jerking up and down as her eyelids flutter yet she continues to try to talk. "Well..."
I quickly grab and steady her head while her eyes start to close. "Erato?"
She slowly is passing out and I have no idea what to do. What can I do? She wasn't wrong there was truly no doctor on this Earth that could help her.
"Erato!?" Her eyelids close and she is out cold.
I've run out of options there was defintley no person on this Earth that could help her but at least I knew two people who might be able to. Her sister or my mom. Question was should I respect Erato's wish to keep this a secret or should I risk my mother trying to form deal.
