This series deals heavily with mental health, addiction, tragic loss, toxic relationships, suicide, and grief. However, it also brings a message of hope, acceptance, second chances, and pure love.
There are a couple of instances where homophobic and bigoted remarks are made. Please note, these do not, in any way, reflect my personal views on the LGBTQ+ or mental health communities.
(Seriously, how could they? I'm bisexual, bipolar, and I write gay smut).
Sometimes, characters are created to bring in perspectives the main characters must confront for their own growth, disgusting though they may be. Remember, this is set in a “real world” environment, so apologies cannot be made on situations that are presented. If you’ve read any of my other books, you know I don’t sugarcoat or hold back. Reality ain’t pretty, folks, no matter what others may like us to believe.
Some liberties were taken with Windy Malcom’s TBI and subsequent mental issues, however the underlying foundation it was built upon is very real. Sufferers of extreme TBI have been known to regress mentally as they age, and eventually require constant care from medical and psychiatric professionals. The love of family and friends is also imperative and must never be overlooked. Without a firm support system and a healthy routine, it’s possible that regression can get even worse, and may cause even bigger problems later.
If you, or anyone you know, is struggling with any of the major topics addressed in this story, please don’t hesitate to reach out for help. Be it a close friend, family member, or any support network available in your area or online.
This story has heavy themes, yes, but it’s still one that can still make you laugh and characters you will grow to love and root for. I hope within this series, you find a character you can connect with, and know, without a shadow of a doubt that:
You are loved
You are enough
You are never alone
I accept you just the way you are
See you June 16, 2024!
Until then, I am ever your humble creator...
C.E.
