Following the tragic death of his fiancé, Robin Scheffield, Harley Cox dives into a bottle of rum with no intention of ever coming back up. That is put to the test when a shy, unusual woman sidles up to him in a gay bar…and hits on him.

Windy Malcom suffered a traumatic brain injury when she was fifteen, leaving her mentally younger than she will ever be chronologically. This has left her filled with self-doubt, low self-esteem, and no confidence to speak of. This has also made it easy for the only “friend” she has to manipulate her into doing things she knew she really shouldn't do…like hit on a man in a gay bar.

After this inauspicious meeting, the two begin a friendship unlike any each of them has ever truly known, and what both of them desperately need. Terrified of losing her best friend to his addiction, Windy begs him to sober up, promising that no matter what, she’ll never leave his side.

When another traumatic event nearly takes Windy from Harley, he realizes he has more to live for than just the memories of the man he once loved and still cannot let go of. Making promises to save one another from their respective demons, they fight to do just that, leading them on a new path of recovery and acceptance.

When a man from Harley’s past comes crashing back into his life, he also discovers that even he is worthy of a second chance at not only life, but true happiness and love.
