Kotomkin is a peculiar man. He was told to not leave our boots outside - and then he does. He was told to wash and bandage the finger after the bite - the next day he has an inflammation. He was told to go to the city hospital - he goes to the local village infirmary, and lives with his friends. Even the solifuge that bit him, even that got away.
I'm studying the language, who knows when the hell will Kotomkin come back. You just say "Pushta-pushta" and point your finger, and they explain - just sit and write it down. I got lucky once, a whole group of baytyrki went to rest on a sunset: spread across the grass, got their pipes, smoking. The whole crowd starts nodding when I pronounce something correctly. It's warm outside, feels good.
Series about exploration of the steppe nation of baytyrki in a universe that is very close to ours, and yet is different in a number of mysterious and fascinating ways.
