The storm is over, and my mood went up as well. I was sitting there, whistling, thinking how could I get close to the caravansary, of where could it even be. If I am to capture the everyday life of baytyrki and obtain some cultural artifacts, the expedition might as well be over, plus they promised me double bonus for the linguist that left.
Then I hear, someone is whistling in return, and with some kind of weird, creepy dissonance. The fog is like a wall behind the windows, the ground is breathing with wetness, the fog swirls from the night cold. And the sink is creaking outside. Someone must be using it.
That spooked me quite a bit, so got my "stechkin" from the stash for the first time. It shouldn't even be here, if rules are to go by. Got outside, shaking like crazy, not sure if from cold or from fear. Went around the car slowly - nobody is there, thank god. Must have left.
Couldn't sleep until the morning. Placed the gun in one of the locked boxes, to be able to reach for it quickly. Kotomkin won't be here to complain anyway, and I'll be able to sleep better.
