I fell to the ground on my knees, The one thing I had to do was not lose yet i lost, was feeling mixed emotions right now but I still tried to maintain my emotions and not show them, Jack was excitedly praising me for my efforts and that I did way better than people with years of experience in the field, which all would have sounded good if I won but right now it's seems more like an insult to me , I can apply to try again in week or wait till half a year which isn't really an option for me.
Jack called one of the healers to check up on my injuries which was a woman who looked about the same age as Jack, she didn't say anything and her face was practically unreadable so I just stood their quietly letting her work on the healing and when she was done told me if I feel any side effects or it starts hurting again I should get it checked, to which I nodded thanking her, I then approached Jack thanking him for the spar and showing me what I was lacking and that I would apply to try again in a week, to which Jack patted my shoulder and praised me, after that I walked away.
I went to the front desk to apply for the test next week, the desk receptionist who watched the spar was trying to console me on my loss saying I did better than a lot of people to which I just forced a smile, she realised I was still bummed out about it so to get my hopes she said I might get the special entry which confused me because it wasn't mentioned anywhere nor have I heard about it seeing my confused look she continued its a chance given to someone that shows promising potential it's usually given to people who showcase an extraordinary talent or skills regardless status or affiliation, I thanked her for the info, gave my application and left the grounds.
As I was walking back home the info the receptionist gave played on my mind it reminded me of some stories on earth were the cliche of the character getting into somewhere, I doubt that would happen to me since I didn't do anything extraordinary they probably are just praising me to comfort me since I'm a bit younger than the ones taking the tests.
I reached the house and the servants told me that my parents still aren't back from the meeting with officials, the sola family is probably trying to drag the issue out for as long as they can, I doubt it's going to end anytime soon, I decided to quickly freshen up and after that decided to go over the spar today and the moment I sat down for that I was overcome with intense pain all over my body guess it was a battle for my body gotta work on that, looking through the recording that the applicant can access and it was pretty clear that there was nothing I could have done to win Jack not only was superior to me in everyway he also was highly aware of his surroundings and was easily able to track me so my strategy of trying to catch him off guard was useless if I knew this maybe I could have tried to tire him instead, well there's no point thinking about what I didn't do, should focus on what I can do to improve myself after sorting that out, I decided to take a breather.
After a few minutes have passed, I heard a knock on the door, one of the servants came in saying they received a letter addressed to me even though I was a bit confused I took the letter, it was from the division head office and it read that I had been accepted into the division and had to report to the head office in a week.
I read the letter again a few times and after making sure I didn't misread it, just stared at it thinking someone was playing a joke on me.
I asked one of the guards who used to be in the division to check if it's a legit letter and after a few mins he confirmed that it was a legit one and congratulated me and said that only a few people get a chance like this, I still felt like it was a mistake and if it wasn't it feels wrong because I don't feel qualified to join.
