When I leaned of all of that rot, I ordered a audit of all major estates and asked that one of the clergy be present with my wife at any time I was’t with her. My suite of rooms was far bigger then our cell so I order new locks for all the doors and a crib for by our bed. I found that the maids and foot men did what I asked but the butlers and queens ladies were almost never helpful.
We slowly surrounded ourselves with people we trusted and reassigned the people that couldn’t listen to us. We fallowed most all of the court traditions and customs just at greatly reduced size. Intimate, dinners instead of huge banquets. Concerts in the church instead of balls. We made time for individual meals with each of the grate family’s at court. I say we in all of this because Lynda was always with me, the only people she trusted with Adel was a set of solders her father had sent with us and a few of the church people. We also found that slowly the solders at court stated to be turned over to the solders from the fortress, I knew them. I knew their secrets and I knew their loyalty and having them around helped my wellbeing.
I made mistakes and blunders but altogether by my second summer as King things were so improving that our little family of now four (tuned out Lyndas unease at our arrival to the palace was do to more then just all the changes, she was in fact already carrying our daughter) so we made plans to escape back to Grayfeild. I had purchased the Cloversky estate that was once home to Daisy and Primrose family. All the girls were long married of to new lives. They were to familiar with me for me to ever see them. I did find out details of how their lives turned out and though Daisy had grown to love her life oversees. Primrose had a more turbulent go of things. Married off to a bad man and run away to, from what we could gather to a be a pirate. She took special intreats in raiding her husbands territory. I maintained keeping a blind eye to the matter as he was one of the profiteers that had done so much of the damage to our country, so I was quite okay with him being taking down regularly.
Cloversky truly was a great estate, twice the size of Garyfield and though all of the in house staff we brought from the palace the town supplied all of our needs. I ran the place just the way Daisy had taught me and I used those same methods for running the country. With good help we made an ecosystem of support and hard work that we all contributed to. Over the years Lynda lived the dream she had always wanted with us having six children our home being filled with laughter and joy. We bought the country back to a place of peace and opportunity. Adel became a fine young man with his time in the village teaching him that women could do anything men could and with less fuss, as they thought things though. I think he will be a great king and a happy man. Lynda and I are challenged, fulfilled and still vary in love.
