Precious Daughter of the Greatest Martial Arts Villain

Chapter 8

“Wh-who dared to harm my servant?! Who would dare—?”

Bing Eunseol, who had been hopping mad, suddenly stilled as the blood drained out of her face.

As if she had seen a ghost, she stared out the door in terror, nervously licking her lips.

“Sect Leader...”

It was Cheon Ma who walked into the room.

Dressed in black with his long hair flowing, he leisurely walked into the room as if he hadn’t just killed someone.

He slowly looked around the messy room with his crimson eyes and then stopped when his gaze landed on Seoryeong.

Cheon Ma’s eyes turned a deep crimson, so dark they almost appeared black.

At the same time, a murderous energy flowed from him, enveloping everyone in the room.

It felt like invisible insects were piercing through our skin and gnawing at our insides.

“N-no!” Seoryeong gasped. “S-sect Leader! M-miss Lihwa is in d-danger! P-please restrain your qi!” she cried out as she covered me with her body. Suddenly, the energy that had been squeezing me faded away.

“Haa...”

He exhaled deeply as he approached me.

I forced my blurry eyes open and looked up at him.

I knew Cheon Ma didn’t have any affection for me, and I doubted he even understood the concept of family. Still, I felt relieved to see him, because it seemed like he was angry at Bing Eunseol, like he was enraged that I was hurt.

I reached out to him.

“Baba... Baba... (Papa... Papa...)”

Cheon Ma quietly looked down at my tiny bloodied hand and then knelt in front of me.

“I’m sorry I’m late.”

As soon as his warm hand touched my cheek, the tears that I had been holding back started streaming down my face.

“Waaah! Baba! (Papa!)”

“Does it... hurt a lot?”

He was the one asking the question, but strangely, it felt like he was the one in pain, even though his expression remained cold and his tone as dry as ever.

Maybe that was why I ended up lying.

“Huh? I-it dun hurr. Um fine. (It doesn’t hurt. I’m fine.)”

I must have shaken my head too vigorously because my nose started bleeding again.

“Hold still.”

He held my face as he wiped the blood off my nose and mouth.

His touch was indifferent and far from careful, so why did I feel so relieved?

After wiping the blood away, he lifted me into his arms. I was suddenly far off the ground.

My eyes widened in surprise. I never imagined Cheon Ma would ever hold me in his arms like this.

While holding me in one arm, he turned to look at Bing Eunseol, who stood there in stunned silence.

Then she gasped. “S-Sect Leader!”

When their eyes met, Bing Eunseol, who appeared half out of her mind, stumbled backward and landed on her behind with a thud.

He stared at her indifferently. “It seems there’s a beast inside my home.”

“Th-this is all a misunderstanding!”

“A misunderstanding? You just tried to prey on your own daughter. If you’re not a beast, then what are you?”

“What are you saying?! How could you call your wife a beast?!”

“That’s true. Even a beast would protect its young,” Cheon Ma mumbled to himself as he continued to step toward her. “So what does that make you?”

“W-wait... you could just talk from th—”

“Shut up and answer the question. I asked what you were.”

“P-please don’t kill—argh!”

As he drew closer, Bing Eunseol crawled back away from him desperately.

She was so frightened that she seemed unaware she was even crawling.

Soon, she ran out of room and was backed against the wall. She pointed her trembling finger at Seoryeong.

“I told you it was all a misunderstanding! It wasn’t me... I-it was her! It’s all her fault! That nanny has been abusing the child, so I was trying to stop her, uh, b-but then...”

She was rambling like a mad woman. Not a single person believed what she was saying.

When her excuses fell flat, Bing Eunseol switched to belligerence. “Since when did you care about what happened to the child, Sect Leader? You don’t care about anybody in this world! You don’t form any attachments. Such a dull way to live. Have you suddenly found interest in playing your role as a father?”

When Cheon Ma didn’t respond, Bing Eunseol raised her voice even more aggressively.

“Why don’t you play your role as a husband first?! That child is not needed in this Demonic Sect, but you are the Sect Leader and I am your wife! That makes me the Lady of the Demonic Sect!”

“Starting today, you aren’t.”

“Wh-what?! B-but it was an arranged marriage! You can’t just break it like that! The North Sea Ice Palace will not accept this!”

Cheon Ma’s red lips curled up into a smirk. His grin was so cruel it looked as if it would drip blood at any moment.

“And why would I have to get approval from the Ice Palace?”

He turned away from Bing Eunseol, who was at a loss for words, and called for someone in a low voice.

“Eunryeong.”

A figure dressed in black appeared out of nowhere and knelt before him.

Eunryeong, the Sect Leader’s shadow guard, waited patiently for his orders.

“Inform the North Sea Ice Palace that the marriage contract has been broken and send them this woman’s hand.”

“As you... command.”

After responding in a forced, eerie voice, Eunryeong made a quick movement, and Bing Eunseol’s hand fell to the ground.

Everything happened so suddenly and smoothly that it felt unreal.

Even the blood spraying out like a fountain and the hand that had rolled onto the ground felt surreal. It was all like a dream.

“Aaaaah!”

Belatedly realizing that her hand had been cut off, Bing Eunseol began to shriek uncontrollably as she writhed on the ground.

Realizing that this was actually happening, I buried my face in Cheon Ma’s chest.

“Don’t forget to breathe,” Cheon Ma said with an indifferent tone as he patted my back.

“Haah... Haah...”

I began to breathe again. I hadn’t even realized I was holding my breath.

He turned toward the door and commanded, “Seal this room.”

With no one allowed in or out, it meant he was prohibiting anyone from entering to treat Bing Eunseol, or give her food.

She was going to die in this room.

“Ungh! Was what I did so bad? Wh-why are you doing this to me? Just kill me! Kill me and be done with it!”

Bing Eunseol’s voice pierced my eardrums. Her shrieks made my shoulders hunch, but Cheon Ma didn’t even flinch.

“Why should I show you such mercy? If you want to die, do it yourself. I left you one hand.”

“Baba!”

I frantically tugged on the hem of Cheon Ma’s clothing. He silently gazed at me.

I knew from the way he looked at me that he’d do whatever I asked of him.

If I asked him to treat Bing Eunseol or made sure she ate, or even asked for him to let her go, he would do it.

There was one other person who came to the same conclusion.

Bing Eunseol.

The cunning woman keenly sensed the power I had and began to beg.

“M-my child! Mama... Mama is sorry! I must have temporarily lost my mind! My daughter, your mama is sorry. No matter how lonely I was, I shouldn’t have done that to you. I’m sorry. I’m really, truly sorry. You’ll forgive me, won’t you?!”

Cheon Ma quietly looked at me, as if he were waiting for me to make a decision.

I didn’t even glance at Bing Eunseol. Instead, I stretched out my hand toward Seoryeong, who was on her knees.

“Anny.”

“Yes? Ah, yes, miss.”

“Les go. (Let’s go.)”

“Me too? I can go with you?”

Given the situation, I knew no one would take care of Seoryeong if I just left like this.

No one would care if she died in this room with Bing Eunseol. They could easily find me another nanny. That was what happened in the Demonic Sect when you were weak.

I was barely managing to stay conscious, but I couldn’t afford to faint and leave Seoryeong behind. I could ask for her after I woke up, but I didn’t want to leave her with Bing Eunseol for another second.

“I dun wanna go widout you. Less goh t’gether, yah? (I don’t want to go without you. Let’s go together, yeah?)”

“Y-yes, miss. I’ll follow you.” Seoryeong stood up hesitantly and tightly grabbed ahold of my hand. With tears glistening in her eyes and her lips quivering, she said, “Thank you, miss.”

I firmly grasped her hand and then leaned my head against Cheon Ma’s chest, signaling that I was done here.

Cheon Ma then started walking toward the door with me in his arms.

“N-no, my baby! What about me? You can’t just leave me here! My baby! How dare you, your brat?! Do you think you’ll be able to live comfortably after what you did to me?! The North Sea Ice Palace will kill you for this! My mother will kill y—”

As soon as Cheon Ma and I stepped through the door, the noise ceased abruptly.

He had used his internal power to completely seal the room.

It was fascinating, but I didn’t have any strength left to ask him about it, as my mental energy had already reached its limit.

Cheon Ma lightly patted my back, and I went limp. I must have been tensed up without even

realizing.

Now that the tension had left my body, I felt extremely sleepy.

I couldn’t resist the urge to sleep any longer and closed my eyes.

Cheon Ma’s large hand stayed on my back until I fell asleep.

I hadn’t noticed this when reading the comic, but at first I’d thought that the realization that his daughter was being abused was what made him finally treat her like his daughter, but a really important detail that I missed entirely when reading the comic was that her hand was bloody when she reached for him.
To me, what I understand about Cheon Ma’s hesitancy to be close to his daughter is that it stems from two things: 1. The fear that he will hurt her and 2. The fear the he will “ruin” her. To him she was innocent and perfect and an angel and a monster like him with so much blood on his hands would taint her or hurts her. That’s why I like that they described him looking at his hand with the thousand yard stare in the first chapter, because it insinuates he’s thinking of something negative or traumatic and not just that he wants to hold his daughter’s hand.
But seeing Lihwa with blood on her hand meant that he couldn’t ruin her because even if it was her own blood she still isn’t all-innocent anymore and also that he couldn’t hurt her, because she’d already been hurt. Whether he liked it or not she’d been hurt either way so he now had permission from himself to openly love her. Obviously it will take longer for it to develop completely, but this was the first step.
