Warm embrace still at hand, the little tiger trilled pleasantly before jumping into the arms of both the boys. Not wanting the little thing to fall, Lei Qiu leaned back, taking the cat in his hands, and letting go of Bai Huiliang in the process. Mewling in contentment, the Fengli wind tiger made its place at home right in the older boy's hands.
Xiao Bai’s eyes narrowed into thin slits as he looked down at the satisfied creature. Returning his gaze, the cat hissed lightly in his (BH) direction, feeling confident now having gained the protection of another; that wouldn’t last long. In the next second, the fur on the creature rose as electricity filled the air, condensing dangerously close to itself.
A sharp searing pain shot through Lei Qiu’s arm as the sharp claws of the beast dug into his skin, drawing blood.
“Gege!”
Before Bai Huiliang could make any move to remove the Lei Qiu from the creature's unyielding grasp he (BH) was forced to stop mid-step. Blood from the open wound on Lei Qiu’s arm rose into the surrounding air. It turned and twisted as it mixed into a current of energy sent out straight from the cat. The strands combine and condensed into one before shrinking in size and going directly into the teardrop making on the creature's forehead.
Bai Huiliangs brows furrowed in thought, his fingers twitching occasionally as if about to do something. After the spectacle had passed, he came to the conclusion of standing there and letting it happen. Young Bai looked down at the beast in contempt but satisfaction.
“Gege, It’s trying to form a blood pact with you.”
Lei Qiu knew this of course. Out of everyone here he knew this the best. The only thing he couldn’t figure out was…
Why?...This…This isn’t right! You were supposed to form a pact with Bai Huiliang! Don’t you know your master ah?
Lei Qiu’s eyebrows scrunched forward and frowned slightly at the thought. As an avid reader of the novel this wasn’t supposed to be possible. Bai Huiliang looked up at him, noticing something was wrong.
“Gege, you don’t have to form a pact with him if you don’t want to but…” His gaze darkened, “After almost… killing you last night, I think forming a master servant blood pact would be the best way to keep it in check.” Thoughtfully, Little Bai looked down at his boots, “I wouldn’t have suggested it if something bad could happen to you Qiu Gege. I just don’t want you to get hurt again, especially if I happen to not be there for any reason. The Tiger can protect you and it would also be beneficial for you too! Both of you have the wind spirit root meaning training alongside this thing would help you progress through your cultivation faster. And-”
“I’ll do it.” Lei Qiu smiled despite the small stinging pain on his arm, “It’s ok, Xiao Bai.” Bringing his free hand up to the creature's forehead, Lei Qiu released a weak strand of wind energy; barely present but still enough to accomplish its purpose. Entangling with the tiger's own overpowering energy, both currents of wind went into the open claw markings on the boy’s skin, healing it in the process. Dispersing as quickly as it was formed, the currents of energy were gone from the air, completing the blood pact in the process. With a mischievous and proud look, the cat began to purr against its new master before yelping in fear.
“Now, then are you listening?” Bai Huiliang said as he gripped the small thing by the fur on the back of its neck, “If you dare betray Qiu Gege, allow him to get hurt, or not follow his orders I will not hesitate to turn you into a meal for some lucky wild animal. Am I clear?”
Pupils shrinking in fear, the poor terrorized beast turned to its master seeking protection only to be met with a smile. Now realizing his plan of cozying up to the seemingly nicer boy was doomed to fail, the cat nodded in agreement as if his life depended on it. For the first time the cat had seen, the meaner boy smiled.
“Good. Gege, I’ll be on my way now. I have class soon.”
“En. Get going then and don't go easy on the other disciples!” said Lei Qiu as he grinned with pride.
Little Bai smiled sweetly in return,“Mm. I’ll-”
A hard knock came from the other side of the cabin door.
Bai Huiliang frowned slightly and moved to open the door before being stopped in place.
“Ah Xiao Bai! It’s probably one of my fellow disciple brothers. I’ll handle it so you should-”
Barging in, three very familiar white clothed boys strode in making the small cabin feel even smaller. Long Guowei at the center smirked and put his hands on his hips, he glowered at Lei Qiu in contempt. “I’m surprised you’re still alive after all that. It’s almost funny.” The two behind him began laughing on cue. “Almost funny.” The laughter ceased immediately. “You know-”
“What is he talking about Gege?”
Bai Huiliangs voice rang out coldly from behind Lei Qiu.
