Today I bring you this gem. I was experimenting with brush and ink, as well as dip pen and ink. As anyone who’s worked with ink knows, it’s unforgiving, and after messing up the shading and the basic placement of the features, I decided to happily deface the portrait by giving it a monobrow (hence the heavy stroke on the nose), but then I ran out of ink. I did enjoy doodling the little doodles around the perimeter with a dip pen afterwards, though.
My favorite remains a small pointy brush and solid black ink. Dipping the dip pen makes a mess of my hands and also I don’t like the scratchy sound of quill vs. paper.
