“I don’t know what to do, with your mother missing and no payments coming from her we have no way to pay this off, not anytime soon at least. Nargi, could you go inform the rest of the workers of what transpired today?” Abel eventually said.
Nargi nodded and headed off.
“I’m also in a tough situation. I only have some silver and copper, I was going to camp in the woods but it seems it’s a bit too dangerous for one sorcerer,” Navien lamented.
“Yeah the city has been a bit too distracted to deal with the goblins residing in the tunnels above the city, so they’ve been jumping down on ropes to raid the locals. But you can stay at our house. We have a spare room. Though that still doesn’t solve either of our money problems, you still need to buy food,” Lilika offered and sighed.
As they were both contemplating what to do outside the doctor's office they heard a deep voice sing,
“Ah money, money, money
How it twinkles and glitters
Turns men to fools so funny
For it, we’ll take some blisters
And I hear you need money”
Leaning against the wall of the doctor’s office was Drinial Basil the Half-Orc bard from
the Jumping Jester, wrapped around his head were some bandages.
“We meet again dear Lilika, I also happened to hear you fought off some goblins near the south woods. It just so happens I have a job that fits skills such as those. I had two others who volunteered but they both called in sick with Rootfoot. The job pays us 500 gold each for completion and it would be a great help to the city. Of course, it will have dangers if you are interested?” Drinial said as he greeted the three, bowing to kiss Lilika’s hand.
“That is a very good pay, but what is this danger element you speak of?” Abel asked as he lightly glared at Drinal kissing his daughter’s hand.
“Well, It was recently discovered that a group was causing the burnouts and they need to meet justice. As I said, dangerous. But if you do help me you would be the saviors of the city and maybe a bit filthy rich.” Drinial winked playfully at Abel as he said this.
Abel was about to say something in disagreement when Lilika cut him off,
“I’ll do it, I need the money.” Lilika didn’t fully understand why she was agreeing to this, perhaps something Navien had said, spoke to her, she just knew it had to be done. It was time she defended herself, and her family.
“You sure?” Drinial spoke seriously to her as her father looked up at her, she couldn’t bring herself to see what face he was making.
“Yes,” she said finally.
“I’m in to, and it just so happens I know the exact location where this group of yours operates,” Navien also said.
“Oh? Well then see you two at first light in the Jumping Jester,” Drinial hummed as he started to head back to his own room and board.
