Tsubaki’s POV
I slowly opened my eyes and stared at the ceiling above me or rather the bed curtain that ran above my enclosed bed. I turned my head to my left seeing that my mother sat beside me, head lowered and softly snoring as she slept. I felt heavy and felt like falling back asleep but I ignored that and looked to my right, outside I saw that it was in the middle of the night, the stars in the sky and the moon still full and bright. I turned my head towards my mother again and smiled, feeling a sense of security as I fell back asleep.
~~~~
The next thing I knew was that I was startled from my sleep by my new nightmares. I rose from my bed slowly as I held my head from the splitting headache that started. I shivered as I felt like going back underneath the sheets. I swung my feet over the bed and went to the small gong on the wall, grabbed a small stick from its side and struck it causing a long ringing noise to run around the room. I heard the door open, a gasp then the door quickly closed again. I walked over to the mirror hanging from the room and saw that I still had my silk black hair and crimson eyes. I then glanced at my pale arms and rang my arms along the barely visible veins. I felt weird as if I had the energy to move but also not at the same time, which was weird. Then the door opened, entering was my mom, brother and Head Funlu in front of me. I saw them quickly bowing at me and me feeling weird bowing back which made my mom giggle.
“What did you bow for? Shouldn’t I be the one bowing first?” I questioned.
“No, actually your bowing days are turning few.” my brother smiled at me which felt strange but made me feel content in a way.
“Oh, how so?” I pondered then it hit me, I grimaced, “Oh, right. I am going to become an emperor soon.”
“Exactly dear, we won the battle for this empire.” my mother came and kissed my forehead.
“Battle?” I tilted my head.
“The battle between you and your father that happened two days ago. While you were unconscious Prince Eden saved your life from your father killing you.” Funlu said, “I remember it very vividly. I need to ask the archive house to record it.”
Funlu’s eyes started to glow following his hands and a glowing ball started to get larger and larger in his arms til it made our clothes blow from its winds. Then I saw it, the scenes from the Spiritual Grounds.
Third Person’s POV
Tsubaki’s father was then consumed by a dark blob that fell from his hands and it started to leak towards everyone which made them quickly scatter away from him as the river thickened and got closer.
“Omg, he is going to drown us,” Peru shouted.
“Mama!” Zian screamed.
“Enough of you!” Lord Fenix sent a blast at my father but he quickly absorbed it. “It can’t be!?”
“A corrupt soul.” Lord Lang winced.
“Corrupt Soul?”
“A soul that is lost to the world and doesn’t have a place in the mortal or immortal world. We can barely do anything to it because it will just absorb magic if we blast at him.” Lord Lang explained.
“So what should we do?” Mother asked as she jumped away once again from my father’s attack.
“Let him die out, they are unstable and unable to survive long. Don’t feed him your magic.”
Then Tsubaki was grabbed by my father and dragged towards him. He screamed trying to reach out to grab something.
“I got you Tsubaki, don't let go,” Eden said as he grabbed his friend’s hand.
But Eden slowly started to lose footing but was grabbed by everyone else as they tried to pull Tsubaki away from his father.
“That's it, I am blowing everything away.”
The emperor smirked as he started to crack open, he then compressed into a small ball. Then a burst of light came as it was released and a shock knocked us off our feet. Tsubaki felt unconscious lying on the ground about to be killed by the blast.
“Tsubaki!” Eden screamed.
Suddenly Eden's eyes started glowing, his hair grew longer and turned white. He started glowing as he rose into the air. He then flew towards the blast towards Tsubaki screaming in pure anger.
“Divine State! That happens once every two centuries!” Lord Lang cheered on the crowned prince.
Eden then stretched his arms outwards and a ball started to grow around him but he seemed like he was struggling, he screamed even louder as the orb kept increasing then decreasing around him.
“Isn’t that Soul Barrier?” Lord Fenix asked.
“Don’t tell me he is using a self-protection spell to save everyone?” Lord Lang.
“Lang.”
“Yea?”
“Let us show them why we are gods.”
“Right.”
Lord Lang then ran towards Eden and connected himself with him. Eden turned around and gasped.
“You can do it.” Lord Lang told Eden.
Eden then nodded and screamed louder and the barrier grew larger and enclosed around everyone, Then Lord Fenix walked towards the blast and charged her energy which raised above her forming into a phoenix that dripped from the blood that was used to form it. She sent it towards the blast, the phoenix circled it and enclosed it around the blast. Lord Fenix started to clasp her hands together but when she finally the blast instead of blowing the place away instead sent another blast of air knocking everyone unconscious.
Tsubaki’s POV
Funlu then released the ball and it slowly shrunk and disappeared.
“We all woke up in the medical building after a couple of hours, everyone wasn’t harmed badly but we did have our eardrums damaged but nothing a little magic couldn’t fix. Her majesty sustained a few bruises, your siblings each got a broken bone from slamming into hard surfaces, the monks and I are mostly ok for our connection with Lord Fenix were present.”
“What about Eden?” I asked.
“He woke up yesterday with extreme fatigue and migraine. But I don’t know what happened to him when we heard him talking to someone who exclaimed to his father. But I know his father was long dead but according to Lord Lang explained that it was because he entered the divine state, which now makes him permanently see ghosts that never travelled to the afterlife. Guess his father is one of those ghosts.” Funlu explained.
“I want to see the others. If you will let me.” I spoke out.
“You will but first we need to go back to the sanctuary and finish your transfer properly, we can’t allow you to have random nosebleeds and blood dripping from your eyes.” my mother took her sleeve and rubbed my cheek.
“Ok,” I said as I followed them to the sanctuary and Funlu lead me to the centre of the circle then took his space in the outer circle with the other Monks. When he situated himself, the circle started glowing and I left a rush of air underneath me which caused me to fall backwards and I started floating on my back.
“Initiate the completion of the transfer of power. We acknowledge and welcome the new future emperor of the Hun Empire.” Funlu cheered.
“Welcome future Emperor Tsubaki Hun.” they raised their voices.
I started to rise into the air and the light below me turned red and the wind started to circle me. It then went into my mouth and I raised my head and gasped as I felt the air circling inside my body then settling into my heart. After I slowly descended, landing on my feet which gave way underneath me and I fell on my back.
“You ok dear?” my mother asked as she shifted my hair out of my face.
“Yea, I am good. Just great actually. I feel more energized than I did when I woke up.” I said as I got up and brushed off my clothes.
“Come on we need to introduce you as the future emperor,” Funlu spoke leading the way.
We then went to the government building and the doors opened to a large crowd of the palace staff from the maids to my family. They all bowed collectively then raised their heads, cheering as I walked into the room.
“All Hail the new Emperor of the Hun Empire,” Funlu shouted.
“All Hail!” they responded.
“Tsubaki!” Eden shouted as he charged towards me giving me a bear hug.
He looked different, his hair was still white but his eyes were now purple and he had purple lines running from underneath his eyes down his cheek to his chin.
“You look different.”
“Oh yeah, it happened when I accidentally went into a divine state. Which means I get to be an emperor with you although I might become one before you.” Eden smiled once more.
“Aren’t you going to address your new followers?” my mother asked.
“Um.” I looked towards the crowd, “I am sorry, for whatever my father did to you during his reign, I will work hard to make sure that I won't repeat the same mistake and that it doesn’t reoccur in the future. But that will only happen if we work together. But first, even though my father was a bad person, we still need to give him respect. We will have a two week mourning period for the late emperor after we continue our usual procedure.”
Most of the crowd bowed down and out most of the candles that lit the room, which signalled that the palace was in mourning. I turned to my family and I was hugged by siblings and cousins.
“Out of all of the main family that I thought would have gotten the power I never expected my cousin Tsu would have. Seems like the delay was called for huh Pan-an?” Yunmo grinned.
“Sigh, will you shut up.” Pan-an glared back at him.
“Congratulations Tsu, you will make a great emperor.” Yunjin patted my head.
“Thanks, everyone.” I then glanced at Zian who stood beside my mother.
“Guys this is Guo-Hun Zian, he may not have his father’s blood but he does have his mother’s blood so that makes him family, please treat him good,” I said holding Zian’s hand and slowly guided him to the others.
He quickly bowed, “Hey, I will try not to be a bother.”
Everyone laughed and he rose with a puzzled expression on his face as he glanced at everyone.
“Nonsense, we all will disturb each other, that is a sibling and cousin’s job to each other,” Juneko said as he swung his arm around Zian’s neck.
“You are part of the family so don't feel obliged to behave and be perfect especially since the father is no longer here.” Peru chuckled.
“Exactly, we can let loose after two weeks and finally enjoy ourselves to the fullest,” Yui said as she twirled and then stopped stretching her arms towards Zian.
Zian looked at everyone as we all smiled back at him. Suddenly he started crying and he quickly rubbed his eyes trying to stop them.
“Mama was right when she said that you guys were the best.” Zian hiccupped.
“Group Hug!” Rouqiu screamed as she grabbed everyone, making us all chuckle.
~~~~~~
I slowly jumped onto the roof, walking to the centre as I saw Eden perched on the ledge staring into the crescent moon as his feet swung freely. I walked towards him, settling beside him then fixed my eyes on the same moon in front of us.
“I think our life will change forever huh?” I started.
“Yup, and we are first place for the ride.” Eden giggled.
“Who knew we grew up so fast? Thanks for saving me.” I said looking at him.
“It’s what friends do. Tsubaki, remember I will be here for you, if you ever need me just call my name.” Eden raised his hand towards me.
I high-fived him and then slapped his back, we then kept slapping each other until he paused.
“What is wrong?” I asked.
“Would you believe me if I told you that there is a naked ghost behind you?”
I paused for a split second, and I turned away from him and shifted away from whatever ghost was behind me.
“WHAT!?” I screamed.
