Tsubaki Hun’s POV
I stood in front of my new government and smiled down upon them, I had the floor and all watched as I slowly scanned over the room. Looking into the eyes of all the Ministers, and Elders.
“I am currently quite content with this talented panel that our Goddess has bestowed unto to me. We will work together to better this empire and expand it to greater possibilities. First order of business, Secretary Xi Shi please take the lead.” I sat down.
Xi got up from her seat that was located below my throne, gathering a few papers before going to the centre of the room.
“First order of business for this morning, I welcome the Ministers that have been selected for the government. I hope we can work together to make a better future. Second-order of business, Ministers that were selected His majesty must be wondering where do you start in your journey. I will say that the questions addressed towards you during your final selection is your priority to start with immediately. The questions posed to you may have been random back during the test but reality has awakened us. Yes Minister of Security there is war ahead of us. Yes, Minister of Justice, people are struggling with crime and court cases that have been delayed too long. Your job is to look through the information we gave you about your different issues and find a way to make things better. You will choose your team to work with, a team of 10 people for we can not have some of this information out to the public. Please take your assignments very seriously.” Xi Shi finished.
I looked as the Ministers quickly scanned through the files that were given to them, some looked focused while others looked stressed out already.
“You will be dismissed earlier for your team and get to work immediately. This won’t always happen so please use this time productively. You are now dismissed.” I spoke out.
The ministers all got up in unison, bowing and exited the building, and I could swear I heard someone ask another for their aid. Some ministers have to work with each other for a common goal.
“Next order of business, the Selection for Heads of State, we will be taking suggestions.”

Shoa Lan’s POV
I walked towards the medical pavilion thinking of my assignment, my question wasn’t a normal one nor was the question specific. I took out the question and quickly looked at the words written on the scroll.
‘One must look and see that things and times have changed, but the hearts of those might not. Most of those people hurt and others cure, how can you tell who is who?” I paused again. “I don’t think my answer before is how I should have answered it.”
I opened the door to the empty pavilion. His Majesty ordered all the professional medics to reapply for their jobs again. But this time out of the 50 of them that worked here I can only take back 10 of them. And that doesn’t count the new ones that are applying to the now vacant positions. I sighed as I raised my hand and allowed my energy to flow around the room. There were 17 different rooms in the pavilion that needed cleaning and I don’t know if I could get this room ready for noon. That's when the test could begin.
I smiled, “This was the one time I am glad for my powers.”
I closed my eyes again, separating my energy into 17 different parts, when the parts were formed I shaped them into other versions of myself. Once they were fully formed all I had to do was send them to each room. It drains me to be using my powers in this way but it will get things done faster.
“Yes, this is where the medical test will be held.”
“Thank you very much.”
“You are quite early though? You sure you don’t want me to carry something for you to snack on?”
“No, it’s fine.”
I paused for a bit as I heard a soft shuffle before silence. I walked outside and looked to my right and saw a medium-sized man, staring down at a folder in his hand. When he realized I was staring at him, he eased up off the wall. I looked down as I heard a soft squeal, and saw a small girl with black hair and beautiful hazel eyes.
“May I help you?” I asked.
“I came here to try and get a job at the pavilion? I don’t care if I become a medic or even an errand boy but I need the job. So I am just waiting out here until the interviews start.”
“In all honesty, I don’t think I will make it in time, the pavilion is a mess. And even with my magic, it won’t help.”
I looked at the man as his spirit seemed to crack, and his eyes fell towards the ground. And he seemed to shrink into a ball of sadness and disappointment.
“Couldn’t you come back tomorrow?”
“I am sorry, but I can’t you see, I begged my boss to give me today, just to ask him for tomorrow too. I couldn’t do that to him. I will come back maybe next interview season. Thank you for your time.”
“Mitsuki, tell the man goodbye.”
The small girl waved and grabbed the hands of the older walking away.
“You know you could ask for their help.” One version of myself spoke up.
I sighed, “Sir, who are you guys to help me make it today?”
“Would you allow us?” I looked at the sun for a bit, “It is almost midday, so we better get to working”
And with that, we managed to open by a little past midday, we made it just in time for the crowd to arrive. I smiled as I saw the pavilion organized as it should be, but I stopped once I saw both the man and the girl fast asleep. I smirked sending two versions of myself to place them on a medic bed in another room. I turned to the crowd outside and spoke to them.
“Hello everyone, I am Shoa Lan, the new Health and Human Services Minister of the Hun Empire. Today will be an interview that will have very small results. I will only be choosing 10 people to hire. So Bring your A-game today.”
~~~~
“I will get back to you when I have concluded.” “Thank you, Minister.”
I slammed my head into the table as the last interviewee left the building. I was so done with today to the point, I didn’t even want to tally up my scores for each interviewee. I heard a yawn from behind me and I smiled as I saw the man from earlier carrying his sister. He looked scared when he did, and I knew why when he got on his knees.
“Please sir, even though you have finished interviewing for the day, please let me get a chance. I need this job.”
“Who said I wasn’t giving you a chance. The reason I didn’t wake you up was that I realized both you and your sister were sleep-deprived and malnourished. May I ask if you are from the poorer regions of the empire?”
“Yes.”
The man seemed uncomfortable with telling me that one issue.
“Well for someone going into the medical business, your sister is underweight for her age which by what I can see she is 8. And she is seriously not exerting the hyperactive levels a child should have. Now don’t let me get to you, you are too underweight for your age of literally 23, sleep-deprived to the point you sleep-worked during some of the cleanings. And don’t get me started on your literal skin colour, do you even go outside. I have only seen this pale of skin from his majesty and he is healthy.”
The man winced, “Well family life isn’t nice. And I work in a factory so I am mostly inside.”
“How many times do you eat a day?”
“Two for Mitsuki.”
“I meant you?”
“One sir.”
“But big brother, you haven’t eaten at all today.”
“Mitsuki.”
I grabbed the man and carried him to a table and chair, grabbed two plates of food from a maid I summoned and placed the plates in front of them.
“Don’t eat too much, you will not feel good. We are going to have to work on your two health issues.”
“We?”
“Yes, we. I will personally oversee it. All you need to do is work for me.”
“But I never interviewed me?”
“On the contrary, I realized you have untapped potential. Today you showcased your skills, healing yourself when you accidentally cut yourself, healed your sister’s bruise, then helped me when I was spiritually deprived. It takes skill to do all of that so effortlessly, also your magic is beautiful.”
“So I got the job?”
“Exactly, Mr?”
“Ye Xiaodan, but call me Xiaodan Minister.”
“Xiaodan, welcome to the team.”
The girl from earlier was eating away and I smiled as she looked at me.
“You should meet my son.”
“Son? You don’t look old enough to be having one.”
“Oh little girl, anyone can be parents or guardians. And besides, he is my adopted son, so it doesn’t count.”
There was a knock on the door, and in came both my adopted son with a very tired looking emperor.
“YOUR MAJESTY! What… How may I help you.” said bowing respectfully, which was followed by Xiao and his sister.
“Oh don’t mind me, I thought you would be looking for him.”
“You didn’t need to do that for me, he is big enough to find me and I was about to send a maid.”
“Nonsense, I took care of him for some of the evenings, I felt guilty not walking with him.”
“Thank you, Majesty.”
“No problem.”
“Papa!”
My son ran towards me and hugged my legs causing me to pat his head. I saw as His Majesty was looking at Xiao and I intervened.
“This is Ye Xiaodan, my recruit. Xiao, the future emperor of the Hun Empire- His Majesty Tsubaki Hun.”
“Hello, your Majesty. I look forward to working under your hand. But I must ask, why is your energy spilling everywhere like that?”
“My energy?”
“Now that you mention it, it is. Have you taken the Yiwu Dou yet?”
His Majesty’s face fell and he then chuckled, “Well maybe I haven’t taken it today.”
“When was the last time you took them?”
“Two weeks ago.”
I sighed, going to the corner and grabbing a few more Yiwu Dou in a bag. I handed it to his Majesty and he smiled towards me.
“I will try to remember them but you know I am very forgetful.”
“Don’t worry Rougang will help you with that.”
His majesty winced but took one immediately before leaving the room. I turned back to see a very confused Xiao.
“I thought His Majesty would be more, well, bigger and less soft.”
“Well, he is the second youngest in his family, and he barely exercises.”
“Shouldn’t he though?”
“Oh, he will, from what I heard the Monks discussing in the centre garden, His Majesty is in for a treat tomorrow.”
“Should we be worried?”
“Be worried if they send for our help.”
“Oh no.”
~~~~~
“Brother? Your boss didn’t seem happy when you told them you quit.”
“I should be the one unhappy, I had to quit too.”
“I didn’t tell you to quit though?”
“I ain’t going anywhere you ain’t going, I mean it. You said that the medical pavilion needs an errand boy? Then you found your guy.”
“You don’t know anything about medicine?”
“Neither do you.”
“True.”
“We are in this together, We are upgrading now. Palace watches our Ye and Yu are coming your way.”
“I have a bad feeling about this but that's fine.”
~~~~~~
“What do you mean I have to work out tomorrow?”
“Your Majesty, your powers are all over the place. The pills can only go so far. And besides, you have other things to learn. Your training starts tomorrow, the other monks and I have given you enough time to create your government. It’s time to start before spring comes around.” Funlu reasoned with me.
I slammed my face into my bed, “I don’t want to become emperor anymore.”
“You didn’t want to in the first place, Your Majesty.”
“GAH!”
