The end of the morning routine was the start of the new challenge. Finally, after six months of the current academic year, Aastrana’s biggest event, the INTER, a hand-to-hand combat league which is the third biggest event and second biggest inter-dorm event in Aastrana. Every year, 10 students, from each year representing their dorms, fight hand-to-hand without their astras. People from all over the country come to watch this league and it is the first level selection method for booking the final year students, by the major guilds.
“So, it has finally come. Hmm... A month from now... LET THE PREPARATIONS FOR INTER START!”
“Yes sir!” Adhira's enthusiastic scream made it clear to the students that it had come.
For this event, the whole month would be given permission to take leave anytime. Here in Aarambh, the selection of the roster of those lucky ten has started. An immense fight of hundreds of students for where only ten of them will be taking the opportunity to represent their dorm. The table was drawn, and the strengths being tested, a whole new bunch of flowers fighting to be part of this bouquet.
“So, how were your day 1?”
“I could get out at round 1 and Kai has gone forward to day 2. You are lucky by directly qualifying to the day 3, Isavaka.”
“Um. I have nothing to say for that compliment.”
A day passed. Another day passed. Finally, day 3 also passed. The final competitors for the roster from year 1 students were finalized. Starting from ‘Block A’ there were two prominent candidates, Omoi and Kai. From ‘Block B’ there were Isavaka and Khareem. This night was to be a crucial and sleepless night.
“Not sleeping?”
“No, how could I sleep, tomorrow is the day.”
“Yeah. Tomorow's the day.”
“You two. You two broke my sleep also.”
“Huh... Ok come have a seat. See the bitch sky. I rate it 1.618.”
“Hey how does a bone head like you know the golden ratio?”
“Uh... I also study fucker. My strongest subject was physics. My father asked me one thing before passing away. He asked me to master earth and make a structure with the golden ratio. That’s why...”
“Hey! Enough of this gloom. Tomorrow you both might be fighting each other. You... you should be confident, not like this. Are you both not enthusiastic about having a chance for a showdown in the finals?!”
“Yeah! Actually, let’s have a deal. We will both fight tomorrow against each other. What do you say rock man?”
“I say, lock the deal. Let’s break the tomorrow with our today, Kai.”
A declaration between two mates, two friends and almost a family. Having something common from the day 1 of meeting to this moment chatting together, this declaration can be a lot bigger than expected. Does the time and space plot an ‘x’ between this friendship whose bond is same as the golden ratio. What has the time plotted is what conflicts this expectation of a combat
