FairyTales for young and old

The Evil Mermaid

The Evil Mermaid

Jul 07, 2024

Once upon a time, in the vast and enchanting realm of the underwater kingdom, there existed a beautiful mermaid princess known as Corrania. With her flowing golden locks, sparkling emerald eyes, and a voice that could mesmerize all who heard it, she was the epitome of grace and radiance. Her father, King Frewin, ruled over the kingdom with wisdom and kindness, ensuring harmony among his subjects.

However, behind her captivating facade, Princess Corrania harbored a dark secret. Despite her ethereal beauty, she possessed a heart filled with malice and cruelty. Secretly, she reveled in tormenting the inhabitants of the sea, especially those she deemed inferior or "too ugly" to be in her presence. Among her favorite victims was her personal servant, a kind-hearted and gentle mermaid named Peony.

Peony, with her plump figure and a heart as warm as the sun, dedicated herself to serving the princess faithfully. Yet, Princess Corrania took pleasure in mocking and belittling her because of her plus-sized body. Cruel words and hurtful actions became the princess's daily routine, as she relished in the power she held over her servant.

One fateful day, while going about her duties, Peony overheard a conversation between the princess and her trusted advisor. To her horror, she discovered that Princess Corrania had devised a wicked plan to poison King Frewin. Shocked and stricken with grief, Peony knew that she had to act swiftly to save her beloved king and expose the princess's true nature.

With determination in her heart, Peony embarked on a dangerous mission to gather evidence against the princess. She discreetly gathered information, piecing together the nefarious plot, and even managed to obtain a vial of the deadly poison intended for the king.

As the day of the planned poisoning approached, Peony knew that she had to act. With bravery and audacity, she confronted the princess in her private chambers, presenting the evidence she had gathered. The room filled with tension as Princess Corrania's true colors were revealed.

Enraged by Peony's defiance, the princess lashed out with her dark magic, attempting to silence her servant. But Peony, fueled by her love for the king and her determination to protect the kingdom, stood her ground. With every ounce of strength she possessed, she blocked the princess's spells and fought back, using her own magic to expose the truth.

As the battle raged on, the commotion reached the ears of King Frewin. Alarmed, he rushed to his daughter's chambers, witnessing the confrontation between the two mermaids. Shocked and heartbroken by his daughter's betrayal, he listened to Peony's account of the princess's wicked plan.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, King Frewin banished Princess Corrania from the kingdom, sending her to a faraway and desolate sea. The princess, stripped of her power and banished from her home, was left to reflect on her actions and the consequences of her cruelty.

With the kingdom now free from the princess's tyranny, King Frewin turned to Peony, who had proven herself to be courageous and loyal. Recognizing her unwavering dedication to the kingdom and her selfless act of saving his life, he made the extraordinary decision to adopt Peony as his own daughter and declared her the rightful heir to the throne.

Under Peony's rule, the kingdom flourished like never before. She ruled with empathy and fairness, ensuring that all creatures of the sea were treated with kindness and respect. The underwater realm became a haven of peace and harmony, a testament to the triumph of goodness over evil and the power of courage and compassion.

And so, the tale of Princess Corrania and Peony serves as a reminder that true beauty lies not in appearances but in the purity of one's heart. It teaches us the importance of empathy, compassion, and the power of redemption. From that day forward, the kingdom thrived under the compassionate and just rule of Queen Peony, forever a symbol of hope and integrity.

A few stories that I sometimes enjoy writing. It will therefore not be one, but several short stories.

Remember they are fairy tales, for kids and for dreams. Yes it's short. Yes it's not realistic. That's what a fairy tale is...
