Leopold lifted his firearm into the air and aimed it towards the dent on the ground lizard while it's stun. The stream of bullets kept hitting the weak spots of the beast till he popped out of his paralysed state and began making cries of pain.

Jonathan's phone vibrates suddenly out of nowhere; it seems a message has come through. He then took out his smart phone from his pocket and looked at the screen to see what message was delivered to him.

Topic: 《Quest 》

Task: Defeat 2 or more ground lizards.

Sub-task: learn to control Mana.

Reward: completing both tasks would reward 2x bonus experience points and also give the  weapon of Alchemy recipe book.

"What is this now, a quest?" Jon mutters as he questions the ridiculousness of the new-found quest.

"Why does it appear now? Why must I fight two ground lizards? and what is mana control?" Jon kept on babbling about the new information that arose from his quest.

"Something just doesn't feel right about this quest."

"There's only one ground lizard in front of us, right? We should go out and find more."

"But why so suddenly, though?" Jon kept on pondering the recent message that he had received. While he was deep in thought, his facial expression became disturbed, causing the others to also become aware of his anxiety.

A faint and gentle voice called out to him. "Don't worry, I'm sure all is okay." These lines of encouragement were spoken to Jon in his time of need.

Not only her, but a few other survivors also turn their sights towards him. As they try to encourage their brave savior, who seems to have been anxious at the time, the ground beneath them starts to shake and rumble, and a tiny rock starts to violently leap into the air. Many thought amongst themselves that it was an earthquake, as they felt their bodies vibrating like a cell phone.

Before he got to finish processing all the information, something horrible made it's appearance. Leopold detected two more red dots showing up on his map, and he started to sweat as fear creeped up on him. Two ground lizards popped up out of many holes all over the place.

One of these beasts lifted its tail up and swung at the party of three before the tail made contact with these three men. Jonathan sprints across the field, Sweating like a pig while puffing and wheezing.

With a dash and slide, Jonathan made contact with the lizard's tail, blocking the tail blow with his arm, forming an x. The collision made a booming sound that echoed through the surrounding area. The impact seemed likely to have broken Jon's hands, but luckily for him, most of the damage was absorbed by the lizard-scale jacket.

"Even with this high-defense jacket, it still felt like I was hit by a cricket bat," Jon mutters to himself with a small amount of blood near the corner of his mouth.

Everyone stared at him, eyes wide open in amazement mixed with shock. Leopold and his men smirked at seeing this young lad leap into action. They seem to have a sense of admiration for the bravery that was displayed before, as well as a sense of thankfulness to avoid taking damage from that surprise attack.

"Oh, I have missed this skill so much, This fight is going to be a big one,"  he stated with a mischievous grin across his face.

Jonathan spit a bit of blood out, then materialized his knife from his smartphone. The beast's tail has already fallen to the ground, and two creatures are preparing to strike once more.

The ground lizards both dive their heads below to rip Jon to shreds as they open their large mouths, causing their sharp fangs to become visible. Jon saw this as an opportunity rather than an issue, as he also prepared to counter both their attacks.

He slahes both their throats instantly; all anyone could see was the white glare of the knife going across the creature's neck. The creatures were stunned for a moment, both looking at each other's necks and wondering if they were badly injured. They noticed that it was nothing but a scratch; the wounds were so shallow that monster laughed at his pathetic attempt.

Jon's expression becomes morbid as he realises that his prize lizard tooth knife is nothing more than a dull butter knife against their scales. Jonathan's blood started to run cold as he noticed the situation before him. Quickly, Jon tries to make a tactical retreat, for his life seems to be nearing its end.

Leo and his team were too occupied with the single-ground lizard from before, which recovered from its slight paralysis. Jonathan may have helped them, but he won't receive same due to circumstances. Both beast set their sight on him, hurtling their heads at his direction and trying to devour him.

Jonathan stood there with no negative thoughts, waiting for a death he did not fear. He watched everything occur in slow motion as two huge mouths prepared to send him to see his maker. 

Various screams could be heard filling the night skies as pale blue moon hung above what could be seen as a tragedy.
