“What Talent do you have?”
Laveda was shaking and I could see her eyes looking around for an escape, but I won’t let her go until she…SHE TOUCHED ME! I don’t want to see her past or future. I don’t want to see her time…huh, nothing is happening? My Talent is not activating. Why isn’t it activating? This is a first. When someone touches me or is too close, my power would activate, but nothing is happening with her.
This really is a first and since my Talent isn’t activating, I’m beginning to notice how small her hand is against my chest. I can feel my heart racing too. What is this feeling? I didn’t have long to think about it, before Laveda turned red and punched me in the face sending me to the ground. THAT REALLY HURT!
When I finally recovered, Laveda was nowhere in sight. She must have escaped when I was on the ground. I know where she’s heading, so let’s go. I have to know what her Talent is and I have to know why my Talent didn’t activate with her touch. I have to know…
I reached the back forest, but what is this? There’s a hut in this forest. It is well made, but why is it here? I can hear movement in that hut, so Laveda must be in there. I approached the hut and stopped at the doorway. How should I talk to her not to appear hostile?
As I was thinking, I heard a crack and then I saw Laveda peeking out of the hut staring at me with wide eyes. I don’t know what to say, so we ended up staring at each other…what should I say? She suddenly slipped back into the hut and then a huge rock rose from the ground blocking the entrance.
“Hey!”
I banged on the rock, but Laveda didn’t answer. Did she summon this rock? Doesn’t that mean she has the earth Talent, but then how was she moving that bear? This doesn’t make sense! I have to make her answer me.
“Don’t ignore me! Open this door!”
Still no answer.
“How did you even make a door?”
Still no answer.
“Are you even listening?”
She’s still not answering. She can’t ignore me forever.
“Lady Laveda, if you don’t open this door, I am going to tell your father!”
The rock was finally lowered and I immediately crawled into the hut before it could reappear again.
“What do you want?”
Laveda was not speaking politely to me anymore and she was glaring at me. I admit I was a little mad about that, but I had to get answers.
“What Talent do you have and you can’t claim you have none. That bear moving proves it!” I exclaimed pointing toward the fallen teddy bear that wasn’t moving. Playing dead won’t save you stupid bear. I grabbed the teddy bear and dangled it in front of my face. This bear attacked me before, so it might attack again, but it will only prove that Laveda has a Talent…I CAN’T BREATHE! There’s a slime on my face? Why is there a slime here?
“GET OFF OF HIM, BIBI!”
Bibi…so this slime is Bibi, the teddy bear? Laveda peeled the slime off my face allowing me to breathe. I really thought I might die from lack of air. I glared at Laveda as she avoided my gaze and demanded why she had a slime. She didn’t answer, but I had my suspicions.
“Could it be that you have the Animal Talent?”
Laveda nodded, but flinched when I added, “Then how did you make a rock wall form before?” Laveda seemed even more nervous than before. I guess she is having a hard time explaining…I CAN’T BREATHE!
“DON’T MURDER HIM!”
Laveda once again peeled that slime off my face. That slime is seriously trying to kill me. I managed to recover and approached Laveda, but I stepped back when I saw the slime shake. I don’t want it to get on me again. I cleared my throat and then looked at Laveda with a serious look.
“Tell me exactly what your Talent is and I promise not to tell your father.”
Laveda seemed to be in deep thought, before she looked at me with her innocent eyes.
“Will you really promise not to tell my father?”
“I cross my heart and hope to die.”
Looks like she doesn’t want her father to know. I wonder why.
“All right, but you must promise.”
“I promise, so tell me already.”
“The truth is that I have all the Talents.”
“…All the Talents?”
Laved nodded, but is she serious? There is no way she has all the Talents.
“When you say all the Talents, do you mean ALL the Talents?”
She nodded again.
“You expect me to believe that. Maybe I should tell your father about you having delusions.”
“I am not lying and you told me that you wouldn’t tell my father.”
“I lied.”
I didn’t really lie. I wouldn’t tell her father, if I wasn’t concerned. I believe she has more than one Talent, but for her to have all the Talents is impossible. She might be having delusions, which is not good, but maybe I should tell my father, since her father is a complete jerk and might just hurt her to stop her delusions.
“I really do have all the Talents and I can prove it.”
“Prove it?”
“That’s right. I can control Bibi and you saw me make a door from earth, but you still have your doubts and even have the nerve to tell me that I am delusional, so how about I use your Talent against you.”
“What?”
Use my Talent against me…does she know?
Laveda suddenly grabbed my arm and I could immediately feel my heart race, but once again, with her touch, my Talent didn’t activate. This is so unreal. I am once again aware of how small her hands are and how warm they are. This is making me nervous. Hold on, Laveda looks troubled as she holds me…why? She’s crying?
She released my arm with tears running down her eyes.
“Hey, Lady Laveda, what did you do? Why are you crying?”
“I saw…”
“What?”
“I saw your mother with you and when your Time Talent first activated; when you first saw the vision of your mother dying in a fire during a tea party.”
My eyes widened as I held my shaking arm. How could she have known that? How could she know when my Time Talent activated? How could she even know about my Time Talent?
“You saw my past?”
She nodded
“So you have the Time Talent?”
She nodded and tears began to fill her eyes even more. She really has the Time Talent, so her having all the Talents must be true, but I have to know one other thing.
“How long have you known about my Talent?”
I haven’t touched her when I first met her, so how did she know about my Talent.
“I’ve known since I first met you.”
Her power is that strong? So she knew with just a glance? Her Talent is very strong. I could feel tears gather in my eyes. For as long as I could remember, I always feared what others would think after realizing that I have the Time Talent, but Laveda shows no sign of fear. She even shares the same Talent as me…it makes me feel…
“I’m glad.”
I smiled as tears continued to flow from my eyes. Laveda looked really shocked as I continued to speak.
“I finally met someone with my Talent. I can tell someone.”
I couldn’t contain myself and hugged Laveda. As I thought, my Talent didn’t activate when I touched her. I could feel her somewhat tense under my touch, before she relaxed in my hold. It felt nice to hug someone…I CAN’T BREATHE AGAIN!
“DON’T MURDER HIM!”
Stupid slime.
We both managed to calm our tears and then began to talk. She once again told me that she had all the Talents and this time I believed her words, but I was focused on only one of her Talents.
“So what is it like, having the Time Talent?”
I never met anyone with the same Talent, so I wonder how she copes with it. Ugh, this slime is getting close to me again.
“I don’t use the Talent much.”
“Are you avoiding it like me by not touching people or getting too close?” I asked as I managed to put my foot on top of the slime to prevent it from moving around. I won’t let it suffocate me again. It doesn’t seem like Laveda noticed.
“My family doesn’t really like getting close to me or touching me, so I don’t really avoid them because of my Time Talent.”
“Do they know about your Talents?”
Laveda shook her head.
“Do you want to tell them? They might respect you more because of your Talents.”
She shook her head once again.
“I won’t tell them and even if I did, I might be taken advantage of and it might put me in danger as well since I don’t know anyone that has all the Talents.”
I see. If it was known that she has all the Talents, she would definitely be in danger and judging by how she is treated by her family now, they would definitely take advantage of her or reveal it to a higher power putting her in even more danger. I definitely understand.
“Your family is cruel to you.”
It made me angry just thinking about how Laveda was treated all this time, even though she was so gifted.
“They are cruel, but they are still my flesh and blood.”
She looked hurt when she mentioned her family again. They must have hurt her deeply for her to show such an expression. I held her hand to try and comfort her, but when I felt her soft small hand again, I felt my cheeks begin to burn. She was so warm to the touch. Laveda seemed ready to yank her hand away, but I held it tighter and said, “Why is it that when I touch you, I don’t see any of your time?”
Laveda looked shocked, so I guess she wasn’t aware that I couldn’t see her time, until I said it. I hugged her feeling more of her warmth.
“I haven’t touched anyone before without seeing their time. This feels nice.”
I made her lie down as I hugged her and soon fell asleep with her in my embrace. I wish I can hold her forever.
