The red haired man jumped down from the small balcony he stood, staring down at the ensuing battle.
As the man landed, the students could feel the pressure in the hanger shifting. Almost like the tides of this battle had shifted completely once this man entered the stage.
In fact, the battle had come to a standstill as the man landed.
"Oi William, isn't he?" Sara began.
"Yes, he is with the hand."
"So it's one of the crowns that are behind this whole angel eyes scandal? But why?" Sara asked.
"Not sure." William responded.
In the world, there are pillars that hold the power in society. Just like a coin, the world has two different sides, two different worlds that require pillars. There are the pillars of the open world, like the ISC and Elysium. Controlling order, people, governments, etc.
Whilst on the other side of the coin, there are the pillars of the underworld. These pillars are the five crowns. Five factions that control the balance of the underworld like drugs, money, weaponry, etc. These five factions are usually seen as criminals to the normal world, but for others they are kings.
"Should we intervene?" Sara asked.
"Not yet. They are nowhere near strong enough to take on some big guy from the crowns. But we have some strong students, some that just need a small push to know their strength, and some that deny their strength." William said, his eyes seemingly focused on Hector.
The red haired man looked around at the chaos that was undergoing.
"Bernard! What happened here?" the man shouted.
An injured man wearing a red suit with small black handprints walked up to him.
"We were suddenly attacked by them from nowhere. However, they seemed to know about our product as well as where to find it." the man called Bernard said.
"Judging from the woman outside, she seems to wear gear from Elysium. So, it's most likely that these are students from Elysium. Boss James." Bernard reported.
The red haired man that Bernard called James looked towards the two outside. His eyes fixating on Williams.
Just as James was focused on William, Nadia took this chance to throw a surprise attack.
She formed her hand so to point with her index and middle fingers.
"Sanctus sagitta!" Nadia screamed.
From her fingers, a bolt of concentrated lightning shot out towards James.
The lightning hit James' suit, and it seemingly did no damage. Like if the suit simply consumed the magic.
James, without breaking eye contact with William, in the blink of an eye, rushed towards Nadia and kicked her away. The force of James' kick threw Nadia towards the hanger’s wall.
"Nadia!" Hector screamed.
Before Hector could even look towards James, Jimmy and Amelia were already focusing on James.
"[Replica: print 2]" Jimmy said, and in his hand his Yade formed a machete.
"Schwerkraftspitze!" Amelia chanted, thrusting her palm towards James' chest.
Still not breaking eye contact with Willam, James quickly raised his right hand and slammed it down swatting Amelia away from him. At the same time, James raised his left arm, and as Jimmy's machete made contact with James' arm, it got stuck.
"Special suit hand crafted by the hand's own artifact maker, gifted to higher ups within the hand. Made to withstand anti tank rounds and absorb magic." William spoke.
"Indeed. Artifact serial number #462511" James responded proudly.
"Oh shut up!" Jimmy screamed as he prepared another attack.
Before Jimmy could even start chanting, he was already on the ground as James had gripped his face with his left hand and thrown him down.
Hector watched from the side. He felt his hands shaking, as memories of a past he wanted to forget flood his mind.
"Shit not now... Not here." Hector said.
"We- I can't..." Hector muttered.
Noticing this, William spoke.
"What do you mean you can't?"
"You have done it before. Don't you remember Hector, what you did that day? What that man told you." William spoke.
Hector glanced towards William, with a horrified look.
"H-how did you..."
"I read your file from Daniel. Quite the story." William responded.
Hector took some steps back.
"The hell is he talking about?" Ophelia muttered.
Hector became more distant, his hands where shaking and he started to sweat profusely. More and more memories flooded his head of people he never wanted to hurt.
"You say that you can't, but I know you can... Champ." William spoke, almost like if he was taunting Hector.
Whatever Williams intentions, that was the word that made Hector snap. In a split-second, Hector had positioned himself right next to James, his hands tightened and ready to fight. Then without hesitation, Hector punched James, aiming for his temple.
Hector's punch was faster than even James could react, which caused James to tumble and break his eye contact with William.
"Ophelia! Heal up the others!" Hector commanded.
"S-sure," Ophelia said, a bit taken aback from Hector's commanding voice.
Ophelia activated her personal ability and rand towards Jimmy, Amelia, and Nadia. From Ophelia grew vines that radiated a faint warm glow that started to heal them.
As Ophelia was healing the others, Hector went on the offensive, throwing punch after punch. He focused his Yade into his fists to increase the damage of his punches. Since the punches caught James by surprise, he struggled at first to keep up, but eventually he could read and predict Hector's moves. So, he started to defend and counter Hector's attacks.
Whilst they were fighting, the rest of the class who were not disqualified where busy fighting their way towards the containers. Once Nicholas had been successful in burning two more containers, he looked back towards James and Hector, who were still fist fighting.
Noticing an opening, Nicholas prepared a spell. Nicholas took out a small bottle from his jacket's inner pocket. He opened the bottle and poured the strange liquid around himself before taking what's left in the bottle and pouring it into his mouth.
Nicholas closed his eyes and clapped his hand once. In his mind, he started to recite a poem.
"Heavy leaves flow down an autumn path. Drown in sin and plunder the hearts of the once down the autumn path. Six wheels flow and pray it guide your soul down the autumn path."
Nicholas clapped hands again, and still reciting the poem, he started to imagine a path towards James.
Nichlas clapped his hands a third time, and now he opened his eyes as the liquid around him started to glow.
"Mantra: วิญญาณ." Nicholas' voice echoed in his mind.
Nicholas spat the liquid in his mouth towards James. The liquid shot towards James like a bullet, and when it hit him, it made a small hole through him. James spat up blood and dropped to his knees.
He felt the Yade infused liquid spread through his body like a poison, slowly hindering his movements and causing his muscles to break.
A curse? James thought.
Wait, a Mantra! He used a curse out of the mantra series? That bastard! James thought as he was now bleeding from every hole in his body, his muscles still decaying from the inside.
As soon as James got cursed Jimmy, Amelia and Nadia got back up and rushed into the action supporting Hector and Nicholas.
As soon as James got some space to breathe, he placed his hand on himself.
"Genesen" James spoke casting a healing spell on himself to counter the curse Nicholas put on him.
From the sidelines, William took out another cigarette and started to fumble with it.
"I thought you said you wouldn't interfere with the test." Sara said.
"I didn’t. I simply spoke to him. How would I know that it would help him?" William said, acting innocent.
"I suppose technically you are right." Sara said.
William continued to fumble with the cigarette in his hand. After a while of watching, William stopped and started to carve something into the cigarette.
He examined the hanger, watching every movement of every student that where not disqualified. He continued to carve something into the cigarette before he stood up. William took a hand full of talismans and threw them out. The talismans glowed yellow and attached themselves to students, signaling that they had failed. Leaving only ten students left, including Hector, Jimmy, Amelia, Nadia, Ophelia, and Nicholas.
"Sara, you know the criteria of who fails and who doesn't, right?" William asked.
"Those who show most talent and seem to know what they are doing pass." Sara responded.
"Correct. Now keep focused on the remaining students and pick who fails according to how I would do it." Williams said.
"Sure, but where are you going?"
"I feel like I have seen how they handle someone much stronger than them, so I have decided it's best that I can wrap up the James problem so they can continue destroying the drugs." William said, snapping his finger to light the cigarette in his hands.
"Sure thing." Sara said.
"לְהַבהֵב (flicker)" William muttered.
William suddenly disappeared before reappearing behind James.
Noticing this, James Quickly spun around to punch William, but he just hit the air. Because William quickly got down into a squatting position in order to dodge his attack. William began to smoke his cigarette. The carvings on it glowed as he did.
William backed away a few steps before puffing out a cloud of pure fire. The fire enveloped James and the Petroleum that was spread out on the hangar floor.
"Students! Continue with your plan. I'll take care of this guy. And don't worry, I won't interfere." William told the remaining students.
That voice James thought.
"Redirigir" James said waving his hands towards William.
A faint yellow glow emitting from James hands grew out to surround the flames and the flames followed James’ hand movement. The flames spiraled towards Willam. He jumped out of the way, but his right arm got caught in the fire.
As William gained some distance, he ripped off the jacket sleeve that had caught fire. Revealing his arm in its entirety, along with the tattoo he had on it. For on his arm are the words: Avaritia, Ira, Gula, Luxuria, Invidia, Desidia, Superbia. Spiraling down his arm.
"That tattoo!" James exclaimed.
"I knew I recognized that voice from somewhere! And that tattoo proves it even more! I know who you are!" James screamed, in ecstasy.
