Residing in a small Brezhnev-era apartment in Western Russia, the Aksyonov family live in an urban, industrial metropolis of the Soviet Union. They are a family of humble means, comprising of an ex-model turned factory worker, a low-level construction engineer, and a young child; within the confines of the USSR, their life together often leaves much to be desired. On a good day, there is a meal for everyone.
The bad cannot be spoken of.
Young Konstantin Aksyonov is the poster-boy for all respectable Soviet youths: intellectual, athletic and stoic.

Konstantin’s unspoken darkness, repressed for the majority of his childhood, now rises to the surface – and manifests in truly unique ways.
